Issue: Fraud or scam

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I was not protected by Chase Bank and their third party affiliate XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I was purchasing concert tickets from a friend and was told to XXXX ( since its used through each parties bank ) the amount of {$1200.00} for the tickets. Come to find out that the tickets were not real and after the recipient did not return the money chase was unable to help me. I filed a claim on the XXXX of XXXX and was told that Chase bank would update me on the status of my claim. It has been well over their window of 3-5 business days and they did not update me and I had to call chase and have them tell me that I was informed of the wrong protocols and procedures with the claim and that they could not help. Chase bank and XXXX has failed me with trying to recover this issue since I have had a high standard with chase and XXXX and have never had a fraud issues or banking issues in general.

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I am on Social Security and was paying my property taxes monthly. The total amt was approx {$630.00}. I was paying monthly and was down to approx {$490.00} when Chase decided they would pay the balance but instead paid the full amount. They then put the XXXX into escrow and was charging me monthly on that amount. Chase never bothered to verify the amount due with the XXXX XXXX XXXX before paying the full amount shown on my yearly taxes. Spoke to manager who agreed correct amt was {$490.00} and would send request to tax commission for repayment of overpayment. Never happened. Then Chase decided to charge me over $ XXXX in ANTICIPATION of my not paying by 2023 taxes which I haven't even received yet. Chase has no right to charge me for what they THINK I may not be able to pay in the future. I was willing to pay the approx {$41.00} in escrow on my tax balance of {$490.00} but they never corrected the amount. Chase then informed me they don't have to verify the tax balnce, just pay what they see. This is definitely unacceptable and so is the {$78.00} in anticipation of what may be due in the future. I want Chase to be fined for the backhandedness in charging me for an invalid amount and for charging me more than due on my balance of property taxes. Please Help resolve this matter ASAP. How many others are enduring this same issue? An investigation needs to be done.

Consumer Complaint: There at XXXX, XXXX dollar charges having been withdrawn from my account. From XXXX separate chase banks. I informed the police, and they did their investigations. When I gave chase bank the information they said it was fraud on XXXX separate occasions. So I submitted a " formal complaint '' and that was also declined. The fraud department says there weren't any " new devices '' added to have even withdrawn the money. Yet refuse to explain how that person could have done it without a " new device '' nor has my mom XXXX XXXX ever used a phone or smart watch to have any access to her savings account. Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Banking errors

Consumer Complaint: I experienced fraud and a security breach at Chase Bank. Fraudsters has breached Chases customer service phone number and managed to access my online banking credentials. They tried to wire transfer $ XXXX ( my entire bank balance multiple times ) over the course of two months. B/c I've been banking with them for XXXX years, I tried to work with them in changing my debit card info, also closing my older checking account, but Chase has been unable to stop the repeated attempts. I was told Friday XX/XX/XXXX, that their customer service system was breached. It took two months for them to disclose this information to me. I finally closed my checking account, changed my cell phone number ( got a number cell number form a different carrie ) and I am now getting Chase customer fraud care calls on my number cell number and text on this new number. I did not give this number out to anyone, my husband doesn't even know this new number. However, this morning I received a call from " Chase customer service '' and a Chase mobile number asking me whether I authorized a charge and asking for verification. I gave Chase the local bank branch my new cell number. This has been a two plus month ordeal and Chase is not telling the public or anyone about the breach. This seems really irresponsible and not ok.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: I visited Chase Bank ( branch XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX, NY ) to create a cashier 's check of {$20000.00} from our personal checking account. This check was to be used for an earnest money deposit and was time sensitive. Chase issued a check, but instead of being issued from our personal checking account, it was noted as being issued from my business. This was not acceptable for the purpose of the deposit. Chase took the check and tried to reverse this to create the check under my name. They made a mistake in the system and, after several hours, could not return the money. They agree it is their mistake but that it's out of their control. They have informed me that I should have access to the money in the coming days, but this isn't an acceptable solution when we are legally required to provide this check in a time-sensitive manner.

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Problem with fees

Consumer Complaint: I noticed that an interest charge of {$90.00} was applied to my Chase Credit Card account on XX/XX/XXXX. I was surprised by this charge, as my auto-pay settings had been established to pay the statement balance in full. However, without my knowledge or consent, the auto-pay settings were modified to pay only the minimum balance, leading to the accumulation of interest charges. When I found the charge on XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Chase customer service to investigate the issue and seek a resolution. Unfortunately, despite my efforts to clarify the situation and emphasize that the auto-pay settings were changed without my authorization, the representative I spoke with was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation. Furthermore, they stated that they were unable to reverse the interest charges.

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Charged too much interest

Consumer Complaint: I have a Chase credit card ending in XXXX that had a statement balance due of {$24000.00} for the billing cycle of XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. I paid a total of {$24000.00} ( {$100.00} more ) during this period, the last payment of which was following the online prompts on XX/XX/XXXX specifically to pay the remaining statement balance in its entirety to avoid any finance or interest charges. Even so, I was just charged {$150.00} in interest fees for this exact statement cycle in spite of having fulfilled my obligations as a credit borrower, using Chase 's own processes and calculations for remaining statement balances owed to pay my credit card in a timeline manner with 5 days remaining before the payment due dates. Chase phone support acknowledged their ability to reverse the charge, but refuses to do so, citing some XXXX about daily interest rates and how there was some kind of leftover balance that still triggered the interest accrual to assess fees. When asked to get a transcript of the call, I was told they couldn't do that. When asked to get an email summary of their decision and reasons, I was told no. They were completely unhelpful and not at all interested in taking responsibility for their error, instead attempting to bamboozle me into accepting their " logic '' for why paying a statement balance in full should still generate interest charges. I've had credit cards for decades. I know how their statement balances work, and this is outright theft.

Issue: Closing an account

Subissue: Funds not received from closed account

Consumer Complaint: I opened a Chase business checking account for my business on XX/XX/23. I deposited checks for customer orders for about a month and a half. I called them on XX/XX/23 about a payment issue and they told me my account was restricted due to I think they said some stop payments. All of the rest of the checks cleared ( and all the checks are legitimate checks of course ). I tried to resolve this on the phone to keep the account open by them verifying the checks. But XXXX of the check makers did not want to give out the information over the phone to them so they said the account would then be closed. I received a letter in the mail from them saying the same thing. They said my account would be closed on XX/XX/23 and a check would be sent to me in the mail for the balance. I called them again on XX/XX/23 and they told me they had to verify all the checks yet again before releasing the funds to me. They already went through this exercise. Also, the balance consists of checks that have long since cleared. They are holding my account up and not releasing the funds to me.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: Today, XX/XX/2023, I deposited a check for less than {$100.00} into my account. I then received an email that they are holding the check for 10 days, without explanation. My husband also deposited a check today into this account that was less than {$100.00} and it was immediately available. This is the second time in the last few months that my check deposit has been held. The last time, it was strictly due to my being transgender and them not liking that I had a legal name change. I believe that once again, this is the case with todays hold. Getting a remedy to this issue the first time was difficult and took several days and several communications. Today, I spoke with them via phone only to be told theres nothing that they can do. Im sick and tired of being discriminated against by Chase bank for being transgender.
