Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX someone hacked into my bank account and did a wire transfer of a total amount of {$4200.00} from my accounts. I reported it to the bank changed accounts and the very next week on XX/XX/XXXX someone went into my new account and did another wire transfer of {$1300.00}. I report all incidents and have the print out of the first XXXX transactions but the bank said I had to file the claim that could take up to 3-5 business days. They have only returned {$2200.00} but have tried to refuse to refund the remaining balance of {$3200.00} trying to say that it was connected to my IP address and facial recognition which was not me that did it. I've been with the same bank since XXXX and have never done anything like this in the past and they are trying to decline to repay the money that is owed. It was sent by wire transfer to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX by someone named XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX. I've never heard of these people and if you need the other person 's info I will have to get it from the bank since they did not give me a print out. I just want to make sure I file this report because it was fraud on my account and need to see what I can do. They also have been holding our direct deposits that went to the account due to not being able to change the direct deposit to our new bank and they have held onto these funds sine XX/XX/XXXX. And its XXXX weeks later and I still have not received my check.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I wrote a personal check for {$1300.00} made payable to XXXX as payment on my credit card account. I mailed said check via USPS, along with the payment coupon, in the enveloped furnished by XXXX. On or about XX/XX/2023, the {$1300.00} was debited from my account, but it was not applied to my XXXX credit card account. Upon investigation, I discovered that JP Morgan Chase had somehow intercepted and deposited my {$1300.00}. I DO NOT NOW, NOR HAVE I EVER HAD AN ACCOUNT WITH JP MORGAN CHASE. I contacted XXXX, but they refuse to assist claiming they are unable to contact another bank. I filed a report with my local police department ( XXXX XXXX, Ohio ), but they are doing nothing to assist in the recovery of my {$1300.00} from JP Morgan Chase. I attempted to contact JP Morgan Chase, but they refuse to talk to me because again, I DO NOT NOW, NOR HAVE I EVER HAD AN ACCOUNT WITH JP MORGAN CHASE. My XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX ' ( XXXX ) has been in contact and according to them, JP Morgan Chase has supposedly/allegedly started a claim ( Ref # : XXXX ), but they appear to be in no hurry to return my funds and has told the representative from XXXX not to contact them for 45-days. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I am a Veteran and Retired Federal employee. I have limited financial resources, and I am currently out {$2600.00} ( the XXXX bill still had to be paid ). This is a significant hardship. I do not understand how JP Morgan chase came in possession of my check because it was not mailed to them, nor was it made payable to them. As far as I am concerned, JP Morgan Chase has engaged in fraud and theft. How can the deposit funds not payable to them? This is fraud and theft, and they appear to be in no hurry to refund my {$1300.00}. This is a significant financial hardship and if my funds are not recovered soon, it will affect me negatively. Again, I'm retired and have limited income. Any assistance you are able to provide is appreciated.

Consumer Complaint: I paid {$30.00} on to XXXX XXXX credit card. Approx XXXX or XXXX XXXX. I saw reversal return to my Chase account. XXXX of {$30.00}. I never told Chase not to pay this. I called XXXX XXXX, they said Chase revoked my payment. My funds were more than sufficient to pay this bill. XXXX then charged me a {$30.00} added fee for payment returned, and added {$9.00} late fee. Chase refused to acknowledge they made a mistake. Chase is responsible to refund me my {$30.00} extra fee. I paid the {$27.00} AND {$30.00} FEE TO XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2023. Chase owes me the return fee of {$30.00}. I have spent 2 days, on phone to numerous Chase departments. No help whatsoever. Consumer Complaint: I received XXXX checks from The State of XXXX ( XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX check is for XXXX dollars and the other check is for XXXX dollars. I electronically deposited the XXXX checks to my Chase account. The XXXX checks were placed on hold after a few days and then it cleared. I realized afterwards my account had locked me out. I contacted Chase and they said my account had been restricted because they needed to verify the XXXX checks. I contacted XXXX and asked if there was a number Chase can contact to directly get a hold of XXXX, but XXXX said they never heard about having to verify checks for a bank. I went to the Chase branch and explained my situation. The supervisor had advised me to call XXXX and have them cancel the XXXX checks and refile XXXX new checks and have them put it on a card instead so I wouldn't have this issue again. I called XXXX after and they told me they can not reissue XXXX new checks because it says it has already been cashed. I called Chase again and told them what XXXX had told me so I ask if they can just cancel the checks, but the supervisor of Chase informed me my account has now been closed and the money is considered fraudulent and I might not see the money for up to 3 years and there's nothing she can do until they verify the checks with the issuer. Nobody once informed me I had a time frame to get the XXXX checks verified or they would close my account and the money would be assumed fraudulent. I don't know what to do at this point. It has been XXXX weeks with this ongoing issue and I feel defeated.

Consumer Complaint: We are seeking return of funds to a Chase Bank checking account that were stolen by a former XXXX client through check fraud. The problem holding up the return of stolen funds to the Chase Bank account is the simple failure of Chase Bank and XXXX to communicate with each other. The check fraud and responsibility for recovery is not in dispute by either bank. Funds are not being returned to Chase Bank by XXXX simply because the two major banks are unable to communicate between their respective Check Fraud departments to obtain the necessary documentation for fund recovery. Neither Chase Bank or XXXX acknowledges receipt of correspondence from the other bank via letter, fax, or e-mail. They both further refuse 3-way calls between the banks, hosted by the impacted client to facilitate communication between the banks. Help is kindly requested from the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau to have Chase Bank communicate with XXXX to recover stolen funds through check fraud as the two banks are unable to communicate on their own. We recognize it sounds ridiculous and unprofessional that two major banks are unable to communicate which is why we reached out to the regulator, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency who in turn directed us to the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau to seek assistance. Abridged Summary : A check fraud case was opened with Chase Bank on XX/XX/XXXX, 2 days after discovery of stolen funds through check fraud for a Chase Bank check # XXXX written on XX/XX/XXXX and cashed by a XXXX client XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. Online check image examination showed Check # XXXX had a very obvious and blatant altered and forged payee, an altered and forged memo, and an improper and forged endorsement on the back. Chase Bank provided the name of XXXX as the depositing bank. After delays due to miscommunication and negligence by Chase Bank, Chase Bank sent a claim letter to XXXX for recovery on XX/XX/XXXX. Chase Bank sent a second letter to XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and notified the client on the same date that the check fraud claim was being closed, and for the client to contact XXXX directly for recovering their funds. Chase Bank claimed they were closing the check fraud claim opened on XX/XX/XXXX because XXXX did not respond to either of Chase Banks two letters. After a month of continued effort to recover funds with Chase Bank with no progress, XXXX was contacted on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX in the XXXX XXXX XXXX Department stated that XXXX had opened Case Number XXXX in XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and that Check # XXXX from Chase Bank XXXX XXXX altered and caught by the XXXX systems XXXX Why XXXX processed a blatantly forged and altered check that was flagged by their system was unanswered. XXXX from XXXX suggested going to the local XXXX branch with the evidence and requesting assistance. On XX/XX/XXXX we went to the local XXXX branch and provided the affidavit submitted to Chase Bank on XX/XX/XXXX, proof of alteration submitted to Chase Bank on XX/XX/XXXX, and letters from Chase Bank. After a month of communication with XXXX, XXXX opened Case # XXXX and assigned XXXX XXXX from the Enterprise Client Relations Team to support us. After months of working with XXXX XXXX since XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX has specifically acknowledged that funds will be returned when valid documents are received from Chase Bank. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX sent an XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX to Chase Bank on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX respectively. In multiple calls to the Chase Bank Check Fraud department, Chase Bank claims no letters were received from XXXX. In short, help is requested from the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau because Chase Bank and XXXX are unable or unwilling to communicate to return stolen funds, with Chase Bank abandoning their client.
