Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I paid merchant $ XXXX for materials and labor ( for a home renovation project ), half the cost of the total job ( $ XXXX ). The merchant was supposed to provide me with receipts justifying the costs, he never did. When the work was complete, there were several issues with the work. Walls were not fully painted, holes in drywall, cracks in the walls, new flooring is separating, needed electrical work was not done, and no permits were ever filed with the city. Later an inspector came and said the new wall and flooring has to be removed. On XX/XX/XXXX, I filed a dispute with the credit card company stating that the services are not satisfactory and were not fully completed. On XX/XX/XXXX, the credit card company responded stating the charges are valid. They did not provide any details as to how they came to this decision other than " Based on the information available. '' On XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted photo evidence of the unsatisfactory work to the credit card company. I also provided copies of the multiple invoices and text messages with the merchant about him not completing the electrical work. At this time there were squatters living in my home ( family of the merchant ) and I could not provide additional photos ( other than those already provided ) of the unsatisfied work. On XX/XX/XXXX, I told the credit card company that their website says that if I am not satisfied with the service, than it is a charge error. I recapped everything that is going on and listed why this is a charge error, per their own website. On XX/XX/XXXX, after the eviction and I gained access to my home, I sent the credit card company additional photos of dissatisfied service. On XX/XX/XXXX, the credit card company responded " While you may have a valid complaint with the merchant, the results of our investigation confirm that the transactions are valid and no billing error occurred on your account. '' On XX/XX/XXXX, the credit card company responded with the same message without explaining any details of what they based their decision off of. They end the letter with " Since we have conducted a thorough additional review of your dispute and can not find a valid billing error, future correspondence from you regarding this matter will be reviewed and placed in your file ; we will not send a response. '' On XX/XX/XXXX, I again asked the credit card company to please provide me with the details and information used to make their decision. I also asked them to have a manager contact me and not a " Customer Service Specialist ''. No response. I later asked if they can give me a history of all the documents I uploaded to them ( I am not able to access ) and they said they could not.

Consumer Complaint: I received and deposited 2 bank checks into my JP Morgan Chase checking account associated with the sale of US domiciled property where chase bank was the mortgage lender Chase bank also received a bank check from the same financial institution for pay down of the mortgage loan balance. Chase processed the check to pay down the mortgage loan within 3 business days but put my checks are on hold for 7 business days. Despite repeated calls to release the funds, chase continues to hold and is not depositing the sum into my bank account. They say they must speak with the financial institution before releasing ( which they presumably have already done, given they released /processed the funds the institution had addressed to Chase ). Chase refused to work on resolving the release of my funds unless I remained on hold while they tried to contact all necessary institutions and individuals. I was told if I hang up, they will move to the next case. After 2 hours on hold they tell me they could not contact the institutions and my hold would persist.

Consumer Complaint: I overpaid my Chase Credit Card accidently, and called for credit balance refund on XX/XX/XXXX. I was told to watch my email for an approval and it would take 4 days. I asked to have the balance simply transferred to my Chase Bank Account. I called XX/XX/XXXX because I never got the email. I was told it was not processed on the XXXX, and I should watch my email for an approval message I should approve. On the XXXX I called again and the account representative said the credit was never processed, but they would send an approval within 4 days ( again, same story ) or they will just send me a paper check within 10 days. I called on XX/XX/XXXX to ask where is my money. I was told a refund was processed on XX/XX/XXXX and I will get the check on XXXX. This is 30 days after I made the initial request and has put a burden on me. The credit card statement says the money was refunded on XX/XX/XXXX but I continued to get the run around from account representatives on my refund. At present I do not have my refund. I feel Chase representatives have consistantly lied to me about the refund. I request CFPB help with the overpayment refund. Thank you, XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I received a call from a number that was related to a Chase mortgage facility. I confirmed my name but did not give any information. I clicked the moment I realized it was a scam call. After the call I got an email stating that my debit card was added to an XXXX XXXX. I immediately locked my card and went straight to the bank to get rid of it and order a new one. I took a look at my checking account and didnt see anything suspicious. Later that day, something told me to check my savings account ( all within the same bank, Chase ) and there it was, {$600.00} robbed from my savings. Whoever did this took {$200.00} from my local bank atm and then another {$400.00} from another atm. Thats when I called to make my claim. The department issued a temporarily refund until further notice. About a week they told me they denied my claim because whoever did this was successful on one attempt. Well of course they are going to be able to use any atm successfully after having compromised my XXXX XXXX. It literally states in the guidelines of XXXX XXXX that you can use any atm. I do NOT think this was fair for Chase to deny my claim because I have been a customer with them for years and not a single time have I ever claimed an unauthorized transaction until now. After being told my claim was denied is when I decided to file the police report because I thought my bank would of supported my accusation, my fault apparently. I am currently faxing any documents that will support that this was not a transaction made by myself. I have work documents and work footage that will show I was at neither one of these atms the date and time these transactions were made in hopes I can have my money returned. Any additional help is highly appreciated at this point.

Consumer Complaint: I am a joint owner on my deceased fathers checking account where he had his Social Security XXXX deposited. He passed away on XX/XX/XXXX. His final deposit ( for XX/XX/XXXX ) was deposited on XX/XX/XXXX. Once I received death certificates, I went into a branch on or around XX/XX/XXXX, and informed the bank of his passing. Four days later on XX/XX/XXXX, the funds for his last Social Security deposit had a hold placed on them. I returned to a branch to attempt to sort it out or find out what I needed to do to clear the funds, so they could be handed over to the executor of his estate. An associate banker informed me the hold was placed on the account by the US Treasury, and to contact the SSA for information on how to release funds. After speaking to the SSA, they referred me to a form XXXX, I completed the form, waited weeks for an answer, finally attempting in all my free time to get information on the status of my request for the funds. I finally got through on XX/XX/XXXX The national hotline provided me the information to the local office it was filed by, and the local office informed me the hold was not placed by the SSA because my father ( or his estate ) were entitled to the funds. I then called Chases XXXX number, and was passed around until I spoke with estate services. The first representative informed me it was federal law that they have to hold the funds for 180 days, and that the funds would be available 180 days after deposit. I escalated the call, a supervisor informed me that the funds were now going to be held for 180 days from the date I informed them of his passing, again reiterating that it was a federal law. After being unable to point me to the federal law that required them to hold the funds, I was disconnected. I called back and spoke to another supervisor who tripled down that placing a hold on the funds was federal law, although she was not able to direct me to where in the XXXX XXXX it said it was federal law that the bank was required to hold the funds for 180 days, only that it said the US Treasury can charge back the amount for 180 days. I repeatedly told these Chase representatives that the funds could be held until the cows came home, but that they needed to address the repeated use of deception, by their branch employee, by their representatives, etc. That a complaint needed to be filed, because it was beyond unacceptable to repeatedly lie to a customer and further to try to quote a federal law that doesnt exist, when it is merely their company policy. The following morning, I received a banking notification that the account balance had been zeroed out. In what I feel was a retaliatory motion. Chase lifted the hold on the funds and immediately withdrew them, to allegedly return the funds to the treasury. Upon speaking with a supervisor XX/XX/XXXX, I was informed that the held funds would have never been made available to the account again, as it was their company policy to immediately return any funds to the US Treasury if deposited after the beneficiarys death. The supervisor stated this policy was put in place on XX/XX/XXXX. As nothing will come of my repeated attempts for an honest answer from Chase, I am in the process of ending my business with them, however their blatant UDAAP violation needs to be addressed. I can not be the only person deceived and abused by their employees.
