Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: In late XXXX of 2023 I received an advertisement in the UPSP mail from Chase saying if I opened a new checking account and deposited money electronically by XX/XX/XXXX than I would get a {$220.00} bonus for opening a new checking account. In addition to the physical mailed advertisement I received an email from Chase also saying I would get a {$220.00} bonus if I opened up a Chase checking account and set up electronic deposits into it. I opened my new checking account and my first electronic deposit of {$500.00} happened around XX/XX/2023 followed by another electronic deposit of {$500.00} XX/XX/2023 followed by a third electronic deposit of {$500.00} that is happening right now for a total electronic direct deposit of {$1500.00}. I have not received the deposit from Chase, so I called them and the representative told me I need to look at the fine print and not look at the large bold print in both advertisements Chase sent me. In the fine print Chase says you have to deposit a paycheck directly from an employer or a government agency like Social Security to get the check. If this are the rules or hurdles Chase is going to create for consumers to receive the bonus they are promising then these rules need to be in the visible and large print of the multiple advertisements Chase is sending in their solicitations. I went to alot of trouble to open this checking account and follow the rules, and I feel like Chase is doing a bait and switch. I want them to pay me the new account bonus of {$220.00} because I followed the rules they explicitly advertised in large bold print in their advertisements inducing consumers to open a checking account. I would not have opened a checking account with Chase if it were not for these written advertisements.

Issue: Unexpected or other fees
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/23 I received a wire transfer from XXXX to my Chase checking account in the U.S. The amount of the transfer was XXXXXXXX XXXX and the amount I received was XXXX XXXX This works out to an exchange rate of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX The exchange rate on that day ( per the XXXX XXXX XXXX ) was XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. So, the net amount in XXXX should have been XXXX I called Chase to complain. They said they only receive the funds they dont set the exchange rate. They also said I should contact the originating bank in XXXX. I dont know who that is but I sent an email requesting that information to the law firm in XXXX that sent me the funds. Regardless, I still feel Chase is culpable because before I initiated the transfer request I asked chase for information on how to do the transfer and any associated fees ( see document 1 ). Their response steers you away from using a check and towards using the XXXX XXXX XXXX system. They said they would charge a XXXX} fee but it might be waived depending on the type of account I had ( and they did waive that XXXX fee ). Theres also a footnote that says other financial institutions may charge fees. In this case the originating firm in XXXX charged XXXX ( see documents XXXX, XXXX, XXXX & XXXX ). What Chase doesnt doesnt tell you is that the XXXXXXXX XXXX is a separate entity from Chase and they typically charge a XXXX % fee for these type of transfers ( see document 3 ). I only learned this after researching the matter when I got less money than expected. Also, there are other transfer options available that are either free or substantially less expensive than XXXX. I dont know if Chase XXXX directly, or indirectly, from this hidden charge but I am absolutely certain they knew about it. This makes them an accomplice in what I consider to be a scam. If I had known about the XXXX % skim I would have never done the transfer using XXXX

Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I went to my chase bank branch in XXXX oregon to deposit cash into the ATM, like normal I put my card in, passcode, and pushed deposit, cash then proceeded to put my cash in. Once my cash was in, all of the sudden a screen came up, telling me that I need to call a certain number to make sure that my deposit went through. It did not even give me a receipt with the amount I had just deposited, it simply gave me a receipt stating that I need to call a certain number to make sure that my deposit went through. I then went to the window because this is never happened before, the lady at the window was extremely rude and told me she can't help me. She has no explanation and I need to call the number on the receipt. I called the number on the receipt gave them my information and they did nothing except get my receipt information that I had and tell me I need to make a claim which I did and that they need to investigate it if they have not investigated it before XX/XX/XXXX than I should have a temporary credit on my account. I had first but I deposited {$900.00} into my account, but then I realized I use some of the cash the day before about {$50.00} so then I called back to let them know that I actually had deposited {$850.00} into my account and the person on the phone said that the exact number doesn't matter and won't affect whether my claim is denied or excepted. so I have been patient. I have been calling and today someone said that my claim was denied. It should be on video I have a receipt. I gave them my receipt information. The first call and I still have it but my claim was still denied. I have a child, rent, and other responsibilities to take care of. They took my money from me and they're not giving it back. Please help me to get my money returned to me that I worked hard for.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Hi, Chase bank has failed to protect my identity and prevent fraud. They allowed a account to be open without my permission and failed to investigate it in a fast matter. I open a cclunt couple weeks ago and they close it 3 days later and refuse to tell me why and found out it was from a account i never open and took me 4 days to file a identity theft claim and failed to take my concerns seriously and refuse to reach out and lie about opening a new account only for it to close and keep saying it can take months before finding a resolution and finding more accounts open in my name I never open. Keep lying and changing their answers everything I call. Complaints and messages are missing from different people in the back office. I feel this company is fraud. They allowed employees to keep missing work and never focus on my case. I feel the company doesn't care and the executive office is failing to do their jobs and lying.
