Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: I was a loyal customer of XXXX XXXX for many years, i never one time was offered any promotions or upgrades on equipment. I called them to see if there was anyway i could get new equipment since the old equipment that i originally had was old and wasn't working properly. one of there representatives transferred me to their supervisor to assist me. the supervisor then told me that i qualified for an upgrade, and that they would send me new equipment and a tech out to hook it up. After a month of having the new equipment i received a outstanding bill for the upgrades that XXXX XXXX supervisor didn't make me aware of or discussed. i also found out that they started a new contract that i never agreed to. When i called to discussed theses matters they kept giving me the run around about my issues, telling me that they would have a someone reach out to take care of the problem but never did. i also made them aware that i was on new contract that i never gave authorization to. I tried reaching out to XXXX XXXX on multiple occasions but fell short with talking to someone that could help. After months turned into years after not speaking with anyone or resolving the issue i then get notification on my credit report that XXXX XXXX sold my bill to a debt collector. the amount of money that they are claiming is unfair and inaccurate.

Consumer Complaint: This letter is a formal compliant that you are reporting and incomplete credit information. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ), you are required by federal law to verify, through the physical verification of the original signed consumer contract, any and all accounts that you post on a credit report. Otherwise anyone paying for your reporting services could fax, mail or email in a fraudulent account. I demand to see verifiable proof ( I.e. : an original consumer contract with my signature on it ) that you have on file I demand that the following accounts be verified or removed immediately failure on your behalf to provide a copy of any alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature may result in a small claims action against your company. Therefore, either provide the requested information or cease your collection efforts and reporting of this account on my credit reports immediately. Additionally, please provide the name, address, and telephone number of each person who personally verified this alleged account, so that I can inquire about how they verified without providing any proof, bearing my signature. As per FTC opinion letter from Attorney XXXX XXXX XXXX, you should be aware that a printout of a bill or itemized document does not constitute verification. Consumer Complaint: I mailed a certified letter to XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2020 disputing the collection account for a XXXX XXXX account in the amount of {$320.00}. By the way, I DO NOT ever recall having a XXXX XXXX account. I received a response letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX dated on XX/XX/2020 stating the account has been recalled from their office and returned back to XXXX XXXX on XXXX, please see the attached documents. This account was then bought by IC System Collections agency as it showed back up on my credit report within a few weeks. I mailed a certified letter to IC System on XX/XX/2020. The certified mail receipt number is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and was received by IC System Collections office on XX/XX/2020 at XXXX per the United States Postal Service tracking site. To date, I have not received a response from IC System, they have not provided any documentation to prove that this collection account belongs to me. I also created a dispute with XXXX and they are stating that it has been verified ; however, again, no documentation has been provided to me to support their claim and I do not recall ever having a XXXX XXXX account. This complaint is in regards to IC System Collections as no response has ever been provided to me. It is my understanding that if validation is requested, the collection company must respond within 30 days or delete it from my credit report. IF THE PRIOR COLLECTION COMPANY, CREDENCE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT WAS UNABLE TO VALIDATE THE DEBT, HOW IS IC SYSTEM COLLECTIONS NOW ABLE TO VALIDATE THE DEBT?

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was paid

Consumer Complaint: The debt relates to an XXXX & XXXX XXXX bill. Original amount owed : {$250.00}. Settled in full for {$160.00} XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ). I was contacted by XXXX XXXX XXXX about this early this year and I settled the account with them and it was considered PAID, SETTLED IN FULL, on XX/XX/XXXX. In XXXX I received a notice from a second collection agency, I.C. SYSTEM, making demand for the balance ( {$90.00} ). I called I C System and sent them proof that XXXX XXXX agreed to a reduced settlement. Today I received another notice from I C System, demanding the unpaid balance, claiming that I still owe it. This is affecting my credit. Both these companies have used deceptive tactics with me. I paid once, and I have a letter saying it was settled. Why should I now have to deal with yet another collection company. They won't talk to each other and they are not accepting the proof I sent!

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: THIS COMPANY CAN NOT AND HAS NOT produced me my original bill from the original creditor they purchased my debt from and because of that they must to cease all collection efforts and remove this account from my credit report. REMEMBER I AM REQUESTING VALIDATION, NOT VERIFICATION!! This COMPLAINT is being sent to you in response to notices sent to me from your company and more importantly, due to your erroneous reporting to the Credit Bureau { s }, the highly negative impact on my personal credit report. Please be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 { b } that your claim is disputed and validation is requested. This is NOT a request for verification or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you. Please provide me with the following : What the money you say I owe is for : Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe : Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe : Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable : Identify the original creditor : Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account : Show me the you are licensed to collect in my state : Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent or Agent of Service : At this time I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureaus { XXXX, XXXX or XXXX } this action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent, I will not hesitate to bring legal action against you for the following : Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Defamation of Character If your offices are able to provide proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist. Also, during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes listing any information with a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate, when in fact there is no provided proof that it is accurate. If your company fails to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit report and a copy of such deletion { to any/all of the 3 major credit reporting bureaus : XXXX, XXXX and XXXX } request shall be sent to me immediately. I would also like to request, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your company to my home or my place of employment. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit. All future communications with me MUST be done in writing and sent to the address noted in this letter by USPS. It would be advisable that you assure your records are in order before I am forced to take legal action against your company and your client. This is an attempt to correct your records, any information obtained shall be used for that purpose. A response with a bill is NOT evidence of proof that the debt is mine. Anyone can open an account under my name for which a bill is produced, but that doesn't mean it was actually me or that the debt is actually mine. I need real evidence. This evidence consists of a contract from the original creditor or some agreement bearing MY written signature agreeing to pay the debt. In the absence of this evidence I ask you to please remove this account from my credit report.
