Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: There were two issues that occurred with GM Financial. I have been in contact with a customer service representative on multiple occasions without being able to come to an agreement on this matter. To summarize, GM Financial arbitrarily changed the terms in my signed lease contract and increased the monthly payment more than what was agreed to, and subsequently did not notify me of the changes in payment terms. Please see below for more details. First, per the signed lease, I agreed to pay {$460.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, followed by 35 monthly payments of {$460.00} due by the XXXX of each month. GM Financial has been billing me over the agreed amount, {$460.00} since XX/XX/XXXX. Due to this, the balance of my account has been increasing by {$6.00} every month since XX/XX/XXXX. This is because I have been auto-paying the agreed to monthly payment of {$460.00}, while GM Financial has been charging me over the agreed to monthly payment. Please note I have not agreed to any changes in the terms. Since XX/XX/XXXX I have accumulated a {$32.00} on top of my monthly payment. This balance will continue to grow each month. Unfortunately, If I were to pay the increased payment and the back due balance, I would be put under financial stress. Additionally, this change would cost me a total of around {$160.00} more than what I expected to pay for my lease over the life of the lease. Second, GM Financial did not notify me that they were changing the terms or the monthly payment amount, resulting in my account balance going up due to the difference between my scheduled payments vs. the increased monthly payment. I found out about the change only when I went to update my mailing address on the customer portal ( GMFinancial.com ) on XX/XX/XXXX. Please note GM Financial changed the payment terms in XX/XX/XXXX. This has resulted in {$32.00} in underpayments according to GM Financial as of XX/XX/XXXX. Due to the arbitrary change in terms and payment amount, and the lack of communication of these changes, I would have to pay {$32.00} on top of my increased payment to balance my account. Had I not noticed that GM Financial had changed the terms until the end of the lease, I would have had to either dispute the balance or settle the account. This would have created a financial hardship. Had GM Financial notified me of the changes up front, I could have responded appropriately at that time.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: Over the past few months GM Financial has not been applying payments made from my financial institution to my account and ultimately have reported inaccurate information on my credit report showing late payment history. I have never been late and it is an internal problem with their company. I have attempted to rectify this on multiple occasions with multiple people at GM Financial and they are unwilling to return phone calls to me when requesting to speak with a supervisor. I have documentation of payment history attached to this complaint. This has negatively impacted my ability to pursue a refinance on my home due to their internal error and negative reporting of payment history on my credit report. What could be so hard about looking up the last name on my check to accurately report my payments.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I recently completed a 26 month lease term 2 months of which were an approved lease extension. I learned as of XXXX that since XXXX. GM had my lease account listed as a total loss. I continued to make payments on time throughout these months due to me being unaware as my vehicle was NOT a total loss. Im the midst of this madness GM had not reported a payment to XXXX since XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX since XX/XX/XXXX. Once the vehicle was returned and the total loss issue was resolved after numerous phones calls, Gm then decide to update their monthly reporting with an incorrect balance. My lease was up as of XX/XX/XXXX but according to my XXXX and XXXX reports, I have not yet fulfilled my lease agreement! TransUnion is showing only 42 % of the balance and term have been completed and XXXX is showing something completely different. I contacted GM where I spoke with both reps and supervisors regarding this issue. The reps tried to tell me that the $ XXXX balance on my credit report were end of lease fees and unpaid balances. I advised her I could send her my payment history ( as o knew she had right in front of her ) to show her this was not right. I spoke with a supervisor who confirmed my end of lease invoice had not yet been generated which confirmed that this balance was not from those fees especially when the 2 reporting agencies have 2 different balances. I have since gotten a new vehicle from a different lender because I want to stir clear from GM. However, according to 2 of the 3 major credit reporting agencies, I have now 2 car loans that I am making installment payments on which aid affecting my credit worthiness due to debt to income ratio issues. The supervisor I spoke placed me on hold for an excess of 25 minutes, came back to the line and advised he now understood my issue and that a rep from the reporting department would contact me within 48 hours. It is now 10 days later and I have not received a call or update. I refuse to call customer service because I never get anywhere and the reps and sups are ALL unprofessional.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Excess mileage, damage, or wear fees, or other problem after the lease is finished

Consumer Complaint: Hello. I recently turned in a 2016 XXXX XXXX to the XXXX XXXX XXXX dealer in XXXX Florida after I completed my lease. I made my final payment in XXXX and on XX/XX/XXXX a day before my lease was due to be turned in I went into the dealership and the keys were given to one of the sales guys that sold a vehicle to us the weekend prior. He assured me that the keys were going to be turned into the person responsible for the lease returns. I get a call from GM Financial two weeks which is the finance company for the car on XX/XX/XXXX asking me where the car was. I told them that I had left the car at dealership as per contractual agreements. Apparently the dealership had not done their due diligence and did not do as they were supposed to. I received a letter from GM Financial this week stating that my car was repod and therefore it will get sold at auction and I'm going to be responsible for whatever fees and payments come about that. The car was repod from the dealership and I don't understand how this is any fault of mine. I find that unlawful as I turned over the lease as I was supposed to and the dealership should be responsible for any fees. They didn't even record the car the day that I turned it in. They're saying that they have XX/XX/XXXX as the date that I turned in the car. I should have nothing to do with that. I didn't receive any type of notification other than that call from GM Financial on XX/XX/XXXX that my car had not been turned in. The dealership is giving me the run around but GM Financial is stating that they will proceed with the steps to take after a car is repod. Do you have any advise for me?

Consumer Complaint: XXXX 2019-Current GM Financial My automatic payment had been stopped, without authorization by me ( was set up over the phone upon getting the GM Financial loan initially ). Apparently GM financial stops automatic payments after 20 months, and I was not aware. I logged into the GM Financial website randomly in early XXXX, and was told notified via the GM website that my account was past due. I entered my account/banking information to pay, thinking this was unusual but considered it a fluke since I had been paying automatically for YEARS. After I entered my payment, it said my payment was processing. I followed up by logging in today to make sure this month 's automatic payment would go through, and see that my last payment was never processed, and now I've been turned over to collections. I've never had a late payment on any of my accounts, and this is going to ruin my credit. Up until I had logged in and noticed my account status, I had NEVER been contacted. I spoke to a representative today who told me they had an incorrect number in my account, and had been calling an old number. I'm asking that GM Financial please remove this from my credit report, especially since their system for payment failed, and they failed to contact me.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a new XXXX XX/XX/XXXX financed through GM Financial. In XX/XX/XXXX, my motor went out in the vehicle. The car was towed to XXXX dealership, and it was confirmed the motor was gone. I had around XXXX miles on the vehicle, and GM Financial would not replace the motor even though it was still under warranty. I told them they can pick up the car because there was no way I could pay for the car and get the motor replaced. GM Financial did not offer any assistance in the matter. Therefore, since the car was deemed as totaled, my insurance company paid a portion of the balance and thereafter the car was recovered. Around XX/XX/XXXX, the car was recovered by XXXX XXXX and charged off. However, XX/XX/XXXX, GM Financial is now reporting late payments on my credit report which is ruining my credit. How can the car be charged off and reporting late payments? I have not been in contact with XXXX XXXX the charge off. I have not any activity on this account none whatsoever. The account was closed charged off and date of last payment inaccurate and they would not delete I have read several articles with GM Financial using unethical practices. This is really emotionally disturbing and stressful.

Issue: Communication tactics

Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls

Consumer Complaint: I recently paid off my debt with GM financial and have a balance of XXXX which are the remaining balance of the late charges. I have let this company know I lost my job and have no income. At this time ans over and over again as well as getting repeated calls this is going against my credit. I can not get a release of the title or negotiate for less on the inflated finance charge. I have been told if this balance is not paid by XX/XX/XXXX it will be charged off and I still will not have the title to my car. The calls are repeated each day over and over,
