Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Notification didn't disclose it was an attempt to collect a debt

Consumer Complaint: on XX/XX/XXXX, I checked my credit report and there was a message on the credit report that said : settlement agreement for less than amount owed. I never spoke to GM Financial about a settlement yet they are reporting a settlement on my credit report. This is a debt that has reached its statue of limitations on collection of this debt and has been written of as bad debt and charged off. This has brought my credit score down significantly. The amount of this debt is XXXX. The account was reported on XX/XX/XXXX

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: GM has filed a 30 past due notice to my report of an invoice of a end of lease charge that they say has yet to be generated by them. They admit that this is a mistake but has not made any attempt to correct this " error '' which by YOUR definition is a crime. This is false information put on my credit which by YOUR definition is illegal.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I had a car loan with GM financial up until XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I traded in the car back to XXXX XXXX where I originally got it for something else. After tradeing in the car I noticed several months later that I had 2 late payments for XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I have turned in documentation several times to GM financial which includes a letter saying the dealership had the car. All I've asked was for the payment history to be updated to reflect not late because I no longer had this vehicle. On my XXXX credit report it has a closing date of XX/XX/XXXX while on my XXXX it has w closing date of XX/XX/XXXX. The last time I disputed this information GM financial added a late mark for XX/XX/XXXX on a closed account from XXXX. I called and notified them of this in which the call is recorded. All I want is the late payments to reflect on time never late.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I leased a vehicle from GM financial. For three years I made payments on time, and after going through the return process, I made my close-out payment on XX/XX/XXXX. At that point, the account was completely clear. Never at any time was I made aware that GM financial viewed my account as being past due or delinquent. On XX/XX/XXXX, GM financial notified XXXX ( and probably the other two credit bureaus as well ) that my account was delinquent. On XX/XX/XXXX, GM Financial notified XXXX that my account had been improved. I had had no contact with GM Financial regarding my account subsequent to my last payment on XX/XX/XXXX, so whatever " improved '' the account had nothing to do with me. GM Financial 's erroneous report of my account being delinquent has decreased my credit score considerably. I have custom-ordered a vehicle, and when it arrives, I need my credit score repaired or I may not get the best terms on a loan. I have attempted to contact GM financial via their customer service line several times. Every time I've called, I've been notified of unexpectedly high call volumes and gave up after being on hold for 15 minutes or more. On XX/XX/XXXX, I initiated a chat session via their web page, and after a substantial wait, an agent reviewed my complaint and agreed that my account was clear as of XX/XX/XXXX and indicated that I should receive some sort of notification via email that the issue was being resolved within 24-48 hours. Having received no such email, I again attempted to contact GM financial on XX/XX/XXXX via chat ( so the responding agent could see the message thread from the previous interaction ). After waiting over 30 minutes, the agent again agreed that my account had been cleared as of XX/XX/XXXX and had said that he/she had " submitted [ my ] account for review ''. I was notified that the fastest a correction could be made to my credit report would be 30-45 days, depending on the results of the review. I was also notified that the agent could give me no time frame for the review, and I have no way of knowing if it will happen or monitoring the outcome. Furthermore, the chat lasted over an hour. Because GM Financial crushed my credit without merit causing me immediate financial difficulty, and because GM Financial has provided me no way of knowing when or if the problem will be resolved, I am filing a complaint.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: I have recently paid off a GM financial lease and purchased at new lease through GM. during my almost 3 yr year lease with Gm. I never had a late payment and have never had a late payment on my new current lease. When I purchased my new lease Gm sent me a bill to pay my last few payment left on my old lease, on my old lease my auto payments were stopped with out my knowledge and my online bill payment account was terminated. Once I received the bill I realized they had terminated my auto pay with out telling me. at that time I called Gm to make a payment to the remaining balance. they took my bank acct info and told me they would pull 4 payments out of acct.each mth. I agreed and hung up. a few mths later I received a late notice On my credit. When I contacted GM they stated they never told me they would auto bill pay each mth and said I was told to call back every mth to make a payment. this is not true and they never told me to call back each mth. they told me the payment would be taken out each mth.. they had no right to cancel my original online payments and then proceed to collect my bank acct. info to deduct payments and then not deduct the payment. when I contacted gm several times I was given the run around after receiving the 30 day late notice. They are stating the the 30 day late was not there error and they will not remove. I asked them for the recording off my originally acct and they stated they would look into it. then I called back and they stated they only keep recordings for 30 days. they also told me I can make payments online and then the next customer rep stated no ability to make payments online. I have now paid the acct off in full.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I had an auto loan with GM Financial, opened in XXXX of XXXX. I closed that account in XXXX of XXXX by paying the loan off. Since the loan was paid off, GM Financial or XXXX continued to show the account as open and that payments were being made. Some of the payments listed after the account was closed in XXXX of XXXX showed as late payments. Payments continued to show being made to the account up until XXXX of XXXX. The account was paid in full and closed in XXXX of XXXX. Late payments for this closed account showed for XXXX of XXXX, six months after the account was paid in full, another late payment showed in XXXX of XXXX, two more late payments were reported in XXXX and XXXX of XXXX. I have filed five disputes with XXXX, each dispute was closed and the information remained on the credit report and continued to be inaccurate. I called GM Financial five times, they stated that the account was closed in XXXX of XXXX, they showed the account closed and they stated that they would send a letter to XXXX. All disputes have been closed with both companies and the information remains incorrect.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: I am a leaseholder through GM Financial. Throughout the course of the lease, the ability to setup autopay has been unavailable to me through the online portal. Autopay is an advertised feature of the lease, however it is not possible to setup autopay via the " manage my lease '' function on the GM financial website. As a result, I have had to make all payments manually on a monthly basis, resulting in instances when payments have been late and fees incurred. My preference would have been to enroll in autopay, but because of issues with the company 's website this feature has been unavailable to me. When I tried to submit a complaint on this issue, I also found that the function to submit complaints via the online portal also does not work. The unavailability to me of an autopay feature, despite the fact that this was an advertised feature of the lease produce, results in a potential unfair practice under UDAAP.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I leased a truck from GM back in XXXX of XXXX with a monthly payment of {$250.00} a month for three years for a grand total of {$9000.00} to be paid off by XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX. I paid the {$250.00} a month early every month and paid the last three months in XXXX of XXXX. I was sent a XXXX balance statement and I turned the truck in a week early with XXXX XXXX less miles then the lease allowed amount and the truck was in perfect shape with no scratches or dents. It was so nice that the guy that inspected it wanted to buy it. I thought everything was complete until three months later I was notified by XXXX XXXX that I supposedly owed GM financial {$590.00}. I never received a bill and had no idea I owed them money! I reached out to the company right away but was unable to talk to a real person for at least a week. I tried other numbers but to no avail. Finally after waiting for more then an hour I finally reached a real person. She then transferred me to someone else and then again and then again. Finally a women who did not give me her name said she could help me. I asked her about the charge and she said that {$300.00} was for excess use which she immediately said she could waive. then I asked her about the remaining charge and she said it was a lease ending fee. I told her I had no idea and she said she would send me a bill. After waiting another two weeks for a bill I started the phone calls again. I left my cell phone number and my email which when they did call me back they would only call my house phone number and leave a message to call them on the 800 number. I was always at work when they called. Another month went by and finally one day I was at home to answer their call I talked to a gentleman who once again didn't state his name. We went through the whole process again and he said they would definatly send me a bill and an address to mail it to. I received the bill five days later and immediatly sent the payment. This whole process took months and my credit rating was destroyed because of it. I was told that once I paid the bill my credit would be restored to where it was. Now I find out that it's going to take seven years to restore my credit rating. I'm a person that ALWAYS pays his bills and ALWAYS pays them early. Now because big business GM financial can't treat a consumer properly and they make it almost impossible to reach them my financial ability to apply for a loan or a mortgage has been deminished. I would like my credit rating restored now not in seven years. I'm XXXX XXXX years old. I might not live long enough to wait for the credit agencies to make it right!
