Consumer Complaint: This complaint is not related to my other complaint that I filed last week. I received an offer for a monthly payment plan when I logged in to my CLOSED account online. I accepted and it gave me two option to choose : 1. .9 % APR with a low monthly payment until balance is paid but " THE ACCOUNT WILL REMAIN CLOSED '' 2. 11.9 % APR with a low monthly payment and " KEEP YOUR CHARGING PRIVILEGES '' I selected option # 2 and accepted higher 11.9 % APR so I could keep charging privileges. I made the required payment and chatted with an online rep. He told me that my account will stay closed and will not have any charging privileges. I told him that it was DECEIVING AND FALSELY ADVERTISED and requested him to let me select option # 1 but he refused to do so.

Consumer Complaint: I have a month to month membership with XXXX XXXX XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX, we faced a global pandemic of COVID19. There was a national lock down, especially in XXXX. I reached out to XXXX several times via the phone, to no avail. I went to the website to cancel my services, but was not successful. I emailed them on their site forum. I didnt have a direct email address. After several attempts, I received one submission email in return. I never received a response from them. They were unlawfully charging members for services to which they were not providing. XX/XX/XXXX, a civil class action lawsuit was filed against them. XXXX has failed to provide members with any substantive response to requests of cancellation leaving members effectively dangling in the wind to try to figure out how to protect themselves from being further charged for services not being provided. This is when I started my disputed with Discover, I would hope, they would have my back and security at a volatile time, yet Discover is siding with the enemy. My contract was month to month starting on XX/XX/XXXX. In the contract it clearly states, they need to adhere to State laws. NYS has been in a lockdown since XX/XX/XXXX. I tried to cancel my membership online in their portal, unsuccessfully. I called, I emailed, to no avail. One option was to send a certified letter to them. Discover validated the charges and re-billed me because I did not send a certified letter to cancel my membership. How am I send a certified letter when were in a lockdown? When that option isnt available? Not only that, sending a certified letter is one option, not the only.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I had a student loan from XXXX XXXX which eventually converted over to Discovered student loans. This loan was co-signed by my mother who went into bankruptcy several years ago. For a while, she was making payment until going into bankruptcy. After she filed, I stopped receiving invoices, bills, or any correspondence from Discover. I was not told about the bankruptcy and the loan disappeared from the credit score and this all began. I researched and found out I was not responsible for paying the loan 'during ' the bankruptcy period. Meanwhile, I began to get contacted again ( this was well over a year ago ) by discover threatening to send my account to collections and my information to the credit bureaus for not having paid the loan. I called Discover when I received this notice and reviewing my account online. Out of the total $ XXXX balance, they listed that I owed over {$1000.00}. I advised them I am happy to make a payment however I need to receive a statement or invoice. They refused and demanded I pay the $ 1000+ or the full balance. I reminded them that I need a statement because I think there payment schedule is in error. They were nothing short of rude and disrespectful during our call and I responded in like kind. They did not elaborate on any detail, missed payments and refused to send me any bills. I later come to find out that they can not demand what they are demanding during the bankruptcy. I actually attempted to open a new account and have the loan transferred to a different provider after the horrible experience and they explained they couldn't as the account was frozen during this time. Until now I dropped it. Today, I log in to check my credit score to see it had dropped 80+ points overnight due to this account. My parents are still in bankruptcy until later this year and I have received no bills, invoices or any correspondence explaining what I owe from Discover. Now I am in a position of a negatively affected credit score, on a frozen account where the creditor is demanding an irrational payment on no basis where I do not even have the option to take transfer the loan to a provider who isn't the equivalency of a loan shark.

Consumer Complaint: In early XXXX, my daughter called me and told me that my ex-husband had left and was not picking up his phone. I went and picked her up and we tried to find him. At that point, we received a 'suicide ' note from him. In the note, he claimed that he had taken a loan out in my son 's name. We immediately filed both a missing person 's report with XXXX XXXX PD and a police report for identity theft against my ex-husband with XXXX XXXX, AZ PD. My son and I promptly checked our credit reports. My son found a loan for XXXX dollars from XXXX XXXX, and I found several credit cards under my name that were maxed out that I never knew about, and he neglected to mention when we divorced. I cancelled as many of the cards as I could ( because I was only an Authorized User ), but two of the companies ( XXXX and XXXX XXXX ) have refused to even contact the police officer assigned to the case. XXXX XXXX, on the other hand, has cleared the loan from my son 's name, and they stayed in communication with the officer on the case. XXXX was communicative with us up until recently. Last month, they asked us to mail and fax them a copy of the police report from the police station we filed it at. We mailed AND faxed them a copy. We called a few days later to confirm, but nobody could tell us anything. We checked in again, and now they are telling us that they never received it and they require us to go to the police, have the officer call them, and submit the report even though just a month ago they said otherwise. Moreover, XXXX refuses to give us a copy of the transaction history. I have no way to access the transaction history of the card because I don't know any of the login information. I can not dispute the payments made on the card because they won't give me a copy. XXXX has led us back and forth on this fraud claim even when we have tried to be diligent in our response.

Consumer Complaint: I was incarcerated on XX/XX/XXXX when a Discover Card account was opened in my name by my mother. I did not have knowledge of the account and I did not consent to her opening an account in my name without my knowledge or use. I did not apply for a Discover Card and I did not receive a Discover Card. I have never lived XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, GA XXXX nor have I ever lived at a an address on XXXX XXXX, XXXX, GA XXXX. I informed Discover Card of the identity theft. I also informed Discover Card my mother applied for the card without my knowledge or consent. I also provided Discover Card identity theft affidavit ( s ) as well as a CitXXXX of XXXX police incident report stating I did not apply for or open the account for which my name appears. Discover card closed the account, however they reopened a separate account in my name refusing to remove the liability and {$17000.00} debt from credit reports stating I should have known my mother applied for a credit card in my name. I have also provided Discover with proof I was incarcerated from XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX ; the fraudulent account having been opened XX/XX/XXXX. Please investigate this matter because I should not be held accountable for a debt fraudulently made for which I had no knowledge.
