Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: Hello, I'm still having having serious issues with Discover Financial Services, LLC and XXXX involving errounesly reported on my credit bureau. The item that XXXX and Discover continue to mark as duragatory was placed on my Bankruptcy schedule as an honest mistake, yet, no one wants to help me with it's removal. In it's letter to my attorney, Discover clearly acknowedges that ( 1 ) There were never late payments, ( 2 ) The balance was paid in full, and ( 3 ) The balance was paid in full XX/XX/XXXX prior to my XX/XX/XXXX bankrutcy filing. Thus it should have never been on the bankruptcy schedule to begin with, just an error on my part that I'm being penalized for. I explained to XXXX that no one is perfect and it was an honest mistake on my part that it was on the schedule and now it's causing me financial hardship in obtaining a loan on my personal residence. I explained the situation in it's entirety and they promplty removed it from my credit bureau in one day.

Consumer Complaint: On my reports there is a closed account with huge amount of missed payments. DISCOVER FIN SVCS XXXXXXXX XXXX. Its not mine account. Also there was no written form of communication, contract or signature for this account debt at all. A bill without signature does not validate the debt and anybody can send a bill and say it is mine. According to the FCRA DISCOVER FIN SVCS XXXX has violated my rights as a consumer and I requesting legal action to remove this account immediately.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Consumer Complaint: Today, XX/XX/21, I have received calls from this number. This is not the first time, there have been several days within the past month or so that I have gotten these calls. I have repeatedly told them that they have the wrong contact information. I am not the person they are trying to reach. I have repeatedly told them to stop calling me. I have repeatedly told them that I will reach out to the FTC if they continue to call me. None of these things has been a deterrent. They quite simply will not stop calling!!!!

Issue: Charged fees or interest you didn't expect
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I applied for a Discover loan. I have excellent credit ( XXXX ), but because I needed a slightly extended loan term, I accepted their loan offer of 12.99 %. My expectation was to pay the loan off earlier with extra payments toward the principal. My beginning balance was more than I borrowed, but my loan didnt have any fees. Customer service said that it was interest that accrued before ever receiving my first statement. My credit report showed that I had a larger balance than my loan amount. I continued to make regular payments that were larger than my minimum payment and noticed that my balance didnt reflect the extra payments toward the principal. I was sure to select the option that directed the additional funds to be applied to the principal balance. I used an amortization calculator to double check my math before contacting customer service again. The representative that received my call first tried to make me believe that there was no problem, but after walking through my calculation with her, she admitted to having brought up the misleading practice to management before. She said the only way around losing so much of my extra payment was to pay the extra via a separate transaction. For my XX/XX/2021 payment, I tried her suggestion, and it didnt work. I made my minimum payment before its due date, and allowed it to process, then made the extra payment on the due date. I realized that I lost about 22 % of the money I allocated toward the principal balance. This practice is predatory and misleading, and my payoff amount is always more than my principal. Ive never been late or missed a payment. I could really use your help. Thanks

Consumer Complaint: I thank you, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, for looking into this. I am in XXXX XXXX, XXXX. I am up-to-date on my payments with Discover Student Loans. Every other lender I have has granted me " grace '' because I am XXXX Discover, through a potential arbitrary and subjective decision, has denied my XXXX XXXX status. Ok. I've argued every potential path and Discover has continued to deny my status. Ok, fine. However, I am not pleased with their subjective decision to allocate my payments to my past due amount to current amounts due. These current amounts due have already been covered. Discover has sunk my credit 93 points. So sad. I have made consistent payments since XX/XX/XXXX and the minute I decide to contest, Discover decides to be unreasonable. Unbelievable. Furthermore, I spoke with many Discover agents in the process to try to get deferment and a change in allocation. XXXX, a nice gentlemen, was very understanding to the situation. However, I was transferred to a gentlemen named XXXX out of the XXXX XXXX XXXX office. Very disappointed : he was very unprofessional, consistently interrupting me, extremely argumentative, and always called me " bud. '' My atty who was also part of the call, listening in, relayed the same : " very unprofessional. '' Putting this is writing so as to potentially pursue legal action. ' XXXX
