Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX XXXX. I would like to submit a complaint about a lawsuit against me from Discover credit card company regarding a fraudulent amount of {$2500.00} dollars. The actual amount that I owed is {$1000.00} dollars, not {$2500.00}. I called Discover credit card company to make payment arrangements for the original actual amount of {$1000.00}, but they made some excuse for not to lower the amount. If they allowed me to explain further I wouldve explained to them is the reason I stopped paying was due to the fact that I had to quit my job to take care of my grandma. Initially my mother was taking care of my grandma until my mom got XXXX. After her XXXX my mother was no longer able to take care of my grandma, so I had to step up and help out.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021, I made a payment of {$500.00} to XXXX XXXX XXXX using my Discover Debit Card. The first transaction was rejected due to issues with the card, so another transaction was made using the banks routing and account numbers. It is XX/XX/2021 and those funds still have not bee deducted from my Discover Checking Account. The transaction doesn't even show up in my pending transactions. Additionally, Discover seems to be re-sequencing my transactions as they never occur in the order in which I make them. None of the transactions, I may clear immediately. They clear within 2-3 days after the transaction was made. An problem I never had with my previous bank before they closed.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I applied for a Discover it card. The card is prepaid. I was going to use it to help repair my credit. During the application process I had to give them my banking information and deposit {$200.00} in order to get my card. Discover took my money and about 10 days later started to act hostile. They sent me an email in which they wanted me to fill out tax papers suppose for identification. Bare in mind Discover has already taken my {$200.00} and accessed my bank account. So to turn around now and tell me that they don't know who I am doesn't pass the smell test. 1. They have my banking information 2. They had my SSN 3. They had my money ( prepaid credit card ) If anything I'm the one taking the risk. Then to top it off when my card arrives and I go to activate my card they want to restrict my card. I paid them {$200.00} of my hard earned money and they are telling me that if I use my card they will deny any thing I buy. I suspected it was because I am XXXX American and I told them to refund my money. Not sure that they will. Pretty sure what was suppose to happen was that they were suppose to just activate the card and wish me a good day. If they were going to reject me then don't take my money from the beginning. They already had all of my personal information. XXXX people have a hard enough time getting credit. But to be treated like a third class citizen ... it's a prepaid card ... my money! I think I was discriminated against. Card activation is suppose to be a simply process. XXXX XXXX XXXX Card number : XXXX Please help me. Thank you
