Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I sent out a letter to XXXX and Discover on XX/XX/XXXX. My current XXXX credit file is showing a Discover Account # XXXX as a 1 ) Negative payment status, 2 ) Charge Off for XX/XX/XXXX, 3 ) Worst Delinquency as a Charge Off, and 4 ) Late payments since XXXX. After speaking with the IRS, they define a charge off as ORDINARY AND TAXABLE INCOME which is reported as such on tax returns. ANY amount over {$600.00} they are required to send a 1099c. INCOME IS NOT REPORTED ON CONSUMER REPORTS. And according to Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies, a person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. Also from XXXX 's publication on XX/XX/XXXX, they STATE loud and clear that INCOME IS NOT INCLUDED in a consumer report. Discover and XXXX has failed to resolve this issue and continue to report inaccurately in clear violation. Because of reporting inaccurately, this account should be removed from my credit report entirely. The status of this account should not be negative or a debt anywhere on the account, or a late payment. Instead, THE STATUS OF THIS ACCOUNT IS INCOME. Which is not included on a consumer report and should be removed immediately. I am attaching the letter sent with certified mail receipt.

I believe there is abundant evidence that proves Discover Card has been participating in abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt collection practices. I'm requesting that Discover Card please deliver a notice of debt pursuant to 15 USC 1692g including the material disclosure required under Truth in Lending. Federal Law requires a debt collector to send notice of debt within 30 days of receipt of the dispute.

Consumer Complaint: I had revoked authorization for Autopay with a Discover credit card representative with the credit card department back on XX/XX/2020. And on XX/XX/2020, they charged my account anyway, meaning without my permission, and {$1100.00} was debited from my bank account. I was not paying a lot of attention to my transactions with my bank account at the time, and somehow missed this transaction. About a year later I had to look at my bank statements about a year prior for something, and discovered this disturbing issue. So I immediately filed a dispute with my bank. Unfortunately, due to the timeframe, they were required to ask for a response from Discover before doing the chargeback. Of course, Discover responded, and showed documentation of my account being set to Autopay. In no way, shape or form did this mean I did not call and request to have my authorization revoked. The agent I spoke with confirmed it was taken off Since Discover responded, even though the response was irrelevant, my bank was unable to send the charge back to Discover because it was over 60 days old I urge Discover to review the phone call from XX/XX/2020, provide me and the CFPB with the conversation, and refund me back the full amount of the funds they debited from my account without my authorization back on XX/XX/2020. Or I will file a lawsuit against them and just get my money back that way. But, if they make me go through all that hassle just to get my money back, as if all this thus far wasnt enough, I will also be suing them for charging my account without my permission, which is illegal

Consumer Complaint: Account Ending : XXXX According to a rep in Discover Bank security dept/fraud by the name of Sunny, an amount of {$140.00} was sent to XXXX XXXX as part of a fraud claim. This amount was sent to XXXX XXXX and not myself I believe in error, attempted to obtain check number and or image of check, unable to do so. Further, I attempted to clarify account balance which showed overdrawn according to previous reps in the amount of $ XXXX, it now shows overdrawn in amount of $ XXXX according to Discover letter dated XX/XX/XXXX. It appears Discover made an error in calculating closing balance, it was not overdrawn prior to closing. The amount of {$140.00} is part of a fraud claim made in the amount of {$690.00}, prior complaint made in re, unresolved to date. This amount was also supposedly sent to XXXX XXXX, whom is unable to locate as far as I know. I've attached both letters showing different closing balances for reference. As for current overdrawn amount of $ XXXX, please advise Discover this appears to be an error and will not pay it, if sent to collections agency, they will be advised of account balance before closing and various different amounts thereafter which do not add up.

Consumer Complaint: I filed a dispute last month and Discover card responded with a 2 page letter. Their letter was a giant lie. On page 2 they say that they will " continue to report the account to consumer reporting agencies as " disputed '' until I advise Discover to remove ''. As soon as the XXXX closed the case they removed that dispute

Consumer Complaint: Hello I have a major issue with discover I have been a long standing customer about 6yrs and I have never miss a single payment. Though I have been a loyal good paying customer my loyalty has never paid off. My credit limit has been and remained at XXXX. With that being said there continues to be an unauthorize charge on my account from XXXX XXXX XXXX for XXXX. I immediately reach out to discover to dispute this transaction as I didn't authorize this charge. They dispute the transaction pending investigation. At that point I contact XXXX XXXX and ask them who authorize them to charge my card they claim my card was on file which was not true. Why would i have a card on file that has a XXXX limit and you charging XXXXSo I told them remove my card and never charge it again on a recorded line. However I'm confused as to why Discover would even let the charge go through of XXXX when they only have me at a XXXX credit limit then allow that account to be over drawn. I called discover and explained the situation they say well even though I told them to not charge my card they still can charge it. That makes no sense to me that tells me anybody can go into my account and charge as they please and I'm on hook for the bill. So Discover put the amount back on my card so I end up paying it based on me calling XXXX XXXX to not charge it again. I check my Discover on the XXXX to make a payment and there it is again another charge for XXXX from XXXX XXXX now this is really getting out of control Again why did Discover allow the charge to go through now my account is back over the limit so i dispute again they take it off and place it back on. How is this legal a company can just charge your account as they please even though I have a email stating this is a one time use of the card and they continue to charge it and Discover fails to block the charge and allow it to go through.
