Consumer Complaint: My credit card payment was due on XX/XX/XXXX at Discover -- I never received a statement of notice that the account was late on XX/XX/XXXX -- via email or mail ( I received daily US postal scans ) I have a copy of all scanned mail and none from Discover. I was never notified that I was a day late. I also, contacted XXXX ( case number XXXX ) to verify that I received no email from Discover in the month of XXXX ). Not even my monthly statement that I should have received on XX/XX/XXXX. Therefore, no emails from Discover was received to my XXXX email or Spam folders, etc. I received an email on XX/XX/XXXX that payment was late, of which I paid immediately, the same day. However, Discover had sent late payment with no grace period or notice to the Credit Bureau on XX/XX/XXXX. I should have received some type of communication prior to sending this directly to collections. My credit rating has been XXXX for over 20 years!!! This is unacceptable! Yes, I was late with XXXX being a short month and the day my payment was due, but I was due a NOTICE or GRACE period. I am in the process of seeking legal action. Do I have a case? Thanks in Advance I live in the Maryland area. My address is XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, MD. XXXX -- email address XXXX XXXX

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have had problems with this lender ( Discover ) for a long time now. They are not the original lender that I applied with, they acquired my loan by taking over XXXX. I have communicated with them several times about my financial situation and they disregard it. I have not been having steady for a while and have been placed on deferment plans prior. It takes me time to make the payments, sometimes a little over a week after the due date. They call constantly and as of these past few months have gotten worse. These past two days alone ( XX/XX/22 & XX/XX/22 ), they have called seven times. I always let them know when I make a payment, that I will call in for the following month payment yet they consistently do this.

Consumer Complaint: Discover Bank advertises Home Equity loan rates between 4.49 % and 11.99 %. I applied for a {$40000.00} home equity loan with them. I have an XXXX credit score and our LTV would be below 70 % with the home equity loan. The only debt I have is this loan and an auto loan, and my salary more than covers the potential payments with my existing debt. It would be a second lien loan. Even with my exceptional credit, they offered me 8.99 %. This is insanely high, and I would have never applied and wasted a hit on my credit if I had known that Discover Bank would give me such a high rate even with my exceptional credit and low LTV. Discover Bank is using deceptive marketing practices, advertising rates that they never intend to provide. Please investigate and find out how many borrowers actually receive the 4.49 % rate - I'm sure it's close to zero.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX we were pre-approved for a home equity loan from Discover Home Loans, after an initial phone call with an agent. That same day, we received a list of items to upload to the portal to start the formal application. For weeks, we received requests for more documents -- sometimes the requests were for documents already uploaded once. Each time, we uploaded the documents, as requested, but were concerned that it seemed like there was a glitch in the system. Finally, we received a number of emails from the assistant of the personal banker assigned to us that everything looked in order and they would be forwarding to the underwriter. But then requests continued, and often did not make sense. For example, requests for W2 forms despite the fact that they knew we were self-employed. One of the last straws was when the underwriter 's manager made a false assumption and arbitrary decision to omit some of my Schedule C income because I had moved to a different state, so my income from the prior state must have stopped. This false assumption continued even after I explained that my work as a consultant was the same no matter where I lived. I had a long-standing contract with the same company and the same income level. My Schedule C income was the same in XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. I offered to share a copy of my contract, but they were not interested. The very last straw was speaking to a personal banking supervisor who could not track what was happening, and kept referring to the wrong documents in his attempt to back up the underwriters. It felt like gaslighting. He mentioned that they had closed the file in XXXX, and there was nothing more that could be done. But it was XX/XX/XXXX and this was the first I had heard of it. Indeed, I had had at least 4 phone calls with the personal banker, attempting to rectify their errors, and it had never been mentioned. Truly, an unimaginable nightmare with Discover Home Loans which wasted hours and hours of my time. I am left to wonder whether it was some form of discrimination, a scam, or some other unethical/illegal thinking that drove this process.

Consumer Complaint: I enclose a copy of the letter sent and evidence that Discover received it, a copy of the police report, a copy of the FTC identity theft report, the account balance is {$9100.00}, it does not belong to me, I asked the credit bureaus to investigate the information and correct it, but their answers are that they notify the information that Discover submits to them, Discover alleges that their investigation concludes that it belongs to me but they refuse to send me a copy.
