Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I wake up and see that Discover has taken a payment amount of {$360.00} without my consent and claim I have set up auto pay which I have immediately revoked access to. I have reached out to my bank and they refuse to dispute the amount. I filed a complaint against discover last month and I was supposed to do 3 payments of {$68.00}, which I did but one month was XXXX because I used the last little cash back bonus to make it less. On XX/XX/XXXX, at around XXXX XXXX time I have contacted a live agent from discover that it was an error and should have been reflected back to good standing according to the complaint I filed the company responded with. I should of had a fresh start on my account with a new minimum payment and apparently that was never the case. I have tried and called them and they don't want to fix it. I even contacted my bank and they have also refuse to refund the credit.

Consumer Complaint: I understand that errors can occur, but these mistakes are severely damaging to my chances of owning a home. I have researched the dispute process and I am aware that you must complete your investigation within a thirty-day time frame. The other bureaus have already honored my request to remove the late dates and negative status of this account. However, your bureau is the only one that has not updated my payment history. I request that the late payment markings be updated to reflect my accurate payment history. I have identified the following errors in my credit report : DISCOVER BANK XXXX. I withhold my consent for electronic communication and explicitly request that all responses be conveyed in written form through the United States Postal Service ( USPS ). I am the primary complainant in this matter, and I hereby grant full authority to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ) to thoroughly investigate and address this claim.

Consumer Complaint: I provided two securities via registered mail to Discover Card. Not only was my interest not electronically transferred to my XXXX account, but my credit report does not reflect the payments they have received. According to UCC 3-604 due to their neglecting to process my payment and failure to return said securities I have discharge and I am no longer indebted to Discover.

Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: Discover is charging me 28.24 % on an older balance of {$290.00} and 23.49 % on {$1100.00} so overall interest charged on {$1400.00} is {$30.00} My minimum payment is {$46.00} each month. If I don't at least pay {$46.00} minimum plus the interest on the {$290.00} that {$290.00} keeps building interest at the rate of 28.24 %. I have to pay at minimum {$53.00} to keep that {$290.00} balance from increasing even more. If I can only make the minimum payment for the month the interest on the {$290.00} balance continues to increase that balance even further. This makes it almost impossible to pay off this card or even pay down the balance of this card.

Consumer Complaint: Discover Card had fraudulently closed an account that had been reported as previously fraudulent activity. Discover Card did not properly file a dispute regarding a {$1000.00} amount prior to fraudulently closing said account. I continued to be charged interest as well as fees upon bringing to Discover Cards attention of fraudulent activity occurring. Once I spoke to an account manager who understood consumer law, the remaining {$1100.00} amount owed onto this account was settled and paid in full to me. This account through Discover Card was subsequently reopened without my authorization, without access to any credit amounts as the consumer, yet I am now being told I owe {$1000.00} to this fraudulent account, along with fees and interest and negative reports towards CFRAs. I will file a complaint to the proper magistrate court against Discover Card if the {$1000.00} amount reflected against me is not paid out to me and immediately.

Consumer Complaint: On multiple instances i requested that XXXX XXXX, discover and XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX provide documentation of the ways they identified the identity of the person claiming to be me. They not once have provided it. I request they take it off my credit report since they have not provided proof that the debt is mine and they have not. Ruining my credit and my life. This is unjust and absurd.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a XXXX $ personal loan and the interest rate changed to 23 % after i agreed to the loan. the information sent prior to agreement was a lower interest rate than I am now responsible for. I attempted to get information and the customer service sent me to applications to obtain a larger loan. I have received mailings asking me to apply for a larger loan from discover. I attempted to negotiate at reasonable pay off amount XXXX $ of XXXX $ and was denied with continued attempts to have me give them auth to schedule autopay and update my banking info. I believe this loan practice is predatory and there is no attempt to assist me as a customer. the current loan has collected XXXX $ interest over one year. Consumer Complaint: I provided a police report and identity theft report with supporting documents to remove a fraudulent account off my credit report and for discover Bank to close this account due to it being fraudulent identity theft account. Instead of closing the account Discover Bank used my supporting documents information to up date their information on a fraudulent account and listed the fraudulent identity theft account with My information that I provided them as a prove of identify for the dispute of the identity theft account. They have used the documentation that provided to them through CFPB website for the sole purpose of disputing the identity theft fraudulent account by fraudulently updating such account with my actual information and my correct address instead of the address that was used to commit identity theft fraudulent accounts that they reported to my Credit report. By doing such action they have violated and breached a dozen of federal regulations for consumer credit protection and consumer rights.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/23, I was charged a returned check fee for a payment made against my checking account despite having {$13000.00} in the account at the time. Despite a near universal courtesy policy of a one time exception, customer service refused to honor this request against the {$30.00} charged despite my account 's perfect standing. The only reason for this I surmised is because of a balance from a access check, a discriminatory treatment policy.
