Issue: Getting a line of credit
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I had submitted my personal loan application on XX/XX/2022 and had also unfrozen my credit files at XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. My XXXX XXXX is in the 760 area and have one existing loan with XXXX XXXX with an balance of {$29000.00}. I was looking to payoff my loan with XXXX XXXX with this new loan at Discover. I have made numerous calls but was told they still needed to verify me and would require a copy of both my Driver 's License and Social Security Card which I sent on XX/XX/XXXX of this year. I am still waiting and the payment for XXXX XXXX is due on XX/XX/XXXX of this year. Since Discover has not resolved this issue I will be making the XXXX payment and would like to have the remainder of the loan proceeds sent directly to me and not to XXXX XXXX. I will payoff XXXX XXXX once the current payment has been processed. The loan request with Discover is referenced with # XXXX. Requesting this loan has affected my XXXX XXXX in a negative manner because of their inquiry and lowered my XXXX XXXX. This is a form of discrimination of the Elder.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XXXX, XXXX I purchased what was advertised as a XXXX*Brand New In Box** XXXX XXXX Programmable Thermidistate that was advertised on XXXX. It cost {$460.00} + {$10.00} shipping + {$39.00} tax for a total of {$520.00}. The merchant is XXXX XXXX, XXXX. The purchase was made using my Discover credit card via XXXX. When I received the item on XXXX XXXX, XXXX it was in a USPS shipping box ( not the original box ) wrapped in bubble wrap, clearly was a used thermidistate and was missing a part. I immediately emailed XXXX XXXX asking him to address the issues. He offered to send me the missing part, refund me if I returned it or he had a different brand, brand new in the box. At this point I had no desire to continue to do business with a dishonest merchant so I elected to return it. Reluctantly, per his request on XXXX XXXX, XXXX ( I waited until after the XXXX rush ) I paid another {$8.00} to have the used item shipped back to him. The {$8.00} included a tracking number and up to {$50.00} insurance but the claim has to be filed within 120 days so that time has passed to even file a claim with USPS. Not to mention now the tracking number has also be archived. I didn't take out any extra insurance because I was certain I was covered under XXXX 's and/or Discover 's Consumer Protection Policy considering he advertised a new item and sent me a used item. Unfortunately, according to the USPS tracking number it was never delivered to him. After waiting a reasonable amount of time for it to be delivered, I opened a dispute with XXXX. After getting the run arounds with XXXX ( they were waiting for the item to be delivered ) I had no choice but to open a dispute with Discover on XXXX XXXX, XXXX to keep from having to pay the {$520.00} charge. I have had to reopen the dispute several times with Discover because they keep resolving the case in the merchant 's favor and apparently XXXX responds back that it is a valid charge. XXXX will no longer talk to me about it since I opened a dispute with Discover. I reached out to the Executive Office for Discover to file a complaint. I spoke to XXXX in the XXXX office ( XXXX ) he said he would reopen the case and review it XXXX final time. The " Final review in progress '' was posted on my account on XX/XX/1922. After not hearing anything XXXX followed-up on XXXX XXXX to only be told from XXXX the review had been finalized and it was in the merchant 's favor. I told him I don't understand how that could be and offered to send him pictures of the used item I received. He basically told me he had no way of knowing that is what I received. Unbelievable, even after I provided them with email documentation from the merchant where he did not deny sending me a used one instead of the a new one as advertised. As of XX/XX/1922 I had not received my letter stating it has been resolved so I followed-up again to find out where my letter is. I was not given a reason as to why I have not received my letter. I need the letter because I'm going to continue to pursue this. As a consumer neither XXXX nor Discover has protected me. To this day, XXXX XXXX I have not received any documentation from Discover and it still shows Final review in progress. I'm thankful the charge is not showing up yet but I'm ready to get this resolved. I've been dealing with this since XXXX XXXX, XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I have a credit card with Discover. I filed a dispute on XX/XX/2022 because I received melted, broken candy and shattered glass due to the company 's ( XXXX XXXX ) poor packaging. I called XXXX XXXX and they said they would have a manager reach out to me. They never reached out until I e-mailed them 3 times. I finally opened a request with Discover when they only offered me a partial refund of XXXX dollars. I provided all information Discover requested, including photo documentation of the broken glass to Discover. The company nor Discover is willing to help me. I am a loyal customer, using my Discover card without disputes but when I finally have a problem, they don't help? I have never had such a negative experience with a bank before.

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account
Subissue: Transaction was not authorized
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, {$20000.00} was unauthorized and fraudulently taken from my Discover checking account. I called XXXX about this issue and was told it would be sorted, and that their website had undergone a breach. I did not hear back from XXXX for months and I was directed to contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I have contacted Discover Bank about the issue and opened an unauthorized dispute, however, they have stated that this transaction is valid and closed my dispute the next day without much investigation into the matter. It is to no fault of mine that my account had been hacked. Both Discover and XXXX are FDIC insured in the event that their system becomes breached. I only authorized a withdrawal on XX/XX/2022, for {$2500.00}. The {$20000.00} on XX/XX/2022, is a fraud charge on my account and Discover bank has not helped me in the matter to recuperate my funds as a customer of theirs. I have had calls dropped on me by Discover members when calling to check on the status of my case multiple times. My Fraud claim was opened on XX/XX/XXXX in the evening and closed via letter on XX/XX/XXXX. I believe my claim had been mishandled and Discover lines have been backed up for weeks and agents constantly drop calls making it hard for me to speak to supervisors especially since I am constantly traveling and out of state for work.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, I received a Discover debit card in the mail. I did not apply for this card. I waited on hold for over XXXX minutes and no one answered the phone. I tried to call Discover again on XX/XX/2022 and again as I type this complaint, I have been on hold waiting to speak with someone for more than XXXX and a half hours with no resolution.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a discover student card approximately XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX. Being somewhat financially stable with a steady flow of income and being high school student in my senior year it seemed like a great card to apply for and I was ultimately approved. I received an email on XX/XX/2022 informing me that my discover card application was approved and that the card would be sent to me soon. I received the card on XX/XX/2022 and activated it the same day. Upon attempting to use my card later that same day, I found that it would decline on any transaction I tried to use it on. I had initially believed that it was still in the process of being activated so I didnt give it much thought and decided to try again another day. Upon attempting to use it again a day or so later, the card continued to decline. After dealing with the frustration, I gave Discover a call to try and find out the source of the issue. In my phone call I was informed that they were in the process of reviewing my information and they would inform me when my card was ready to use which I found odd because the emails I had received led me to believe that the card was already ready to be used. I was not informed of exactly what information they needed to verify nor would they disclose more information with me. I decided that I would wait for their notice that I can use the card and that was the only option, so I waited until I received a notice that my account had been closed on XX/XX/2022. The notice I had received informed me that they couldnt verify my personal information ( Which was seemingly not an issue before they opened the account and sent me the card as well as let me activate it online ) and that they would report that the account was closed by the creditor. This upset me quite a bit as I took a hit on my credit report. At the time of the account being closed I thought that was that and that nothing else could be done about it. After learning about this agency I decided to see if anything could be done to rectify this issue I have faced.

Consumer Complaint: The Discover Card company calls me from several different phone numbers several times a day. I have tried to block the numbers to stop getting the calls. They have resorted to calling my parents and the home number of my former residence. None of those numbers that they are calling are connected to my credit card account. They must have searched the numbers through a database.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Consumer Complaint: I received a Discover Bank XXXX card in the mail. I don't have any accounts with Discover and never applied or opened an account with them. I called and was transferred to an account specialist to handle this but after 2 hours on hold, got disconnected. Tried again with same result. Called a new number and they said the only way to handle it is to call the number that keeps disconnecting me after a couple hours of waiting. They won't give me any other option and the number I try to call wastes hours of my time before disconnecting me so I'm unable to get a hold of anyone to resolve this issue.
