Consumer Complaint: I have attached a letter documenting everything that i can remember. I have been a victim of identty theft/fraud. Reached out to DISCOVER, XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX. Approximately XX/XX/2022, I noticed that several of my above credit cards had been comprimised. I contacted each and the companies closed the accounts and reissued cards under different account numbers but did not address the fraudlent charges. I flagged my SS # with the credit bureaus, contacted XXXX XXXX police dept ( see attached ) and filed an incident report. In speaking with the detective, he stated that he was able to track some of the charges to a man/woman in Florida. Both my daughter and myself tried explaining to the credit card companies that I was a victim of identity theft. They stated I need to submit in writing which I did to all of the companies. They refuse to remove the charges.DISCOVER charges total approx $ {$15000.00}, XXXX {$1700.00}, XXXX XXXX {$4500.00}, XXXX XXXX {$4900.00}. Discover did reverse the charges at one point but turned around and put the charges back under 1 card. I received a copy of the police report filed, I can not get a comprehensive copy of the police report. I was told that I needed to hire an attorney and go to court to get that information released to me.

Consumer Complaint: I found out by surprise from a XXXX credit report that my Discover card was closed. I contacted their customer service and they claim they contacted me by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX/XX/2022 that I needed to use the card within a month or so or it would be cancelled. In reality, I never received this letter. I have a daily digest of incoming mail with photos from the XXXX and I checked and no correspondence from Discover was ever received. I believe they XXXX be telling people that these letters were sent when in fact they are not. I brought this up with their online customer service and was not given any sort of reasonable explanation. I have a copy of this transcript from Discover customer service if you want it.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: I opened a savings account with Discover Bank on XX/XX/2022. I made a deposit of {$300.00} into the savings account on XX/XX/2022. I made another deposit of {$400.00} into that same account on XX/XX/2022. This brought my total balance in the account to {$700.00}. However, on XX/XX/2022, I was notified that my savings account was suspended due to " unusual activity '' by Discover, and the account was closed soon after. Because of this account closure, I was unable to view messages from the bank in my account, or other information about the account such as the account number or account statements. I made repeated calls to the bank regarding this, and was only ever told by customer service XXXX and supervisors that Discover has the right to close accounts without warning for " business purposes ''. Upon request that my {$700.00} be returned, I was first told that the funds would be sent to me within 30 days. After this time frame passed, I was then told the money would be dispersed within 90 days. It has now been over 190 days since the account was closed and I have still not received my money. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, Discover now maintains that there was no money in the account at the time of closure and that I should contact the XXXX XXXX XXXX ) that transferred the money into the account. I have called XXXX to confirm the money sent was in fact cleared, which is also verified by emails XXXX sent to me and in my statements that I am attaching as proof.

Consumer Complaint: Between XXXX to XX/XX/2022, I was scammed purchasing clothes from an individual who claimed my package was flagged for 'XXXX XXXX ' by the police and coerced me into sending him continued payments. Attached are conversation logs with the individual as well as the fabricated police report sent to coerce me into payment. I contacted Discover Bank with the same evidence presented below and was not only met with no response from their dispute center for about a week ; but when I had contacted them they said they could not do anything about the dispute and subsequently sent letters claiming that they had contacted the seller and received no response, to which they have justified the transactions. I have further attached a log of the dates and transactions that had been posted to my Discover checkings account. I am appalled that with this level of evidence Discover has shut me out and claimed that I am in the wrong in this situation. I have also contacted XXXX, who not only refused to take my case but did the same for another dispute regarding the scam of {$95.00}.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: I opened a savings account with Discover Bank in XX/XX/2022. Their webpage ( https : XXXX? XXXX ) says that I can get {$150.00} bonus after depositing {$15000.00}. I deposited {$15000.00} right after opening the account. However, I still have not received the bonus. I contacted the bank and asked for the bonus. They in turn asked me to provide the promotion code. I was confused because my understanding was that the offer wass public and should not require a code. When I opened the aforementioned webpage again, I found a code inside a big paragraph of text in small font. I asked them to apply the code I found, but they said the code was not valid for my account. I am very frustrated with their behavior. By hiding the promo code in a big paragraph, they are essentially denying any customer who did not find the code of the bonus. This is a very unfair and misleading practice. A screenshot of the current webpage is attached and anyone can tell that the code is hard to find. I believe all their customers who opened the account through the advertising page, myself included, deserve the advertisied bonus regardless of whether or not they have included the promo code in the account opening process.

Consumer Complaint: My account is suspended at the moment. I have recently tried to get it in good standing and making payments to pay off the balance. I was told that there is no guarantee that the suspension will come off once paid. I asked, is this written anywhere that speaks about this and was told no. It is worded differently to cover that. I stated that it should be written somewhere as a disclaimer. I stated that it is very misleading to send emails saying, " let us help you get your account up to date ''. This would lead one to believe, once balance is paid, your account will be unsuspended. It doesn't state otherwise.

Consumer Complaint: Good afternoon, I am submitting this complaint based on the events of Friday XX/XX/2023. On this date I continued to receive multiple calls from Discover Student Loans ( DSL ) regarding a payment due of nearly {$2600.00}. I am aware my co-signer was receiving the exact same numerous calls for the exact same collection amount for nearly {$2600.00}. I am also aware that my co-signer advised Discover Student loans ( on their recorded lines ) that they, DSL were placing my job in jeopardy and please do not call her, me again but to only call my co-signor. DSL said no that we have separate accounts. However, it is the same student loan account for the exact same collection amount they were calling each of us on. My co-signer believed that it was for my safety that I had my cell phone on at work. While safety is one very important reason for me the other significant reason is that I use my personal cell phone for work. Often times I was on XXXX meeting at work when I would receive multiple calls from XXXXXXXX XXXX - DSL during the business day that would appear on my screen while my team leaders or co-workers were speaking, and for all to see. It was humiliating and disruptive. During these work meetings I participated in my supervisor leading the meeting would often interrupt our XXXX meetings and turn the focus upon me to ask if I needed to address the matter that was urgently and repeatedly calling me which was clearly unrelated to my work. It was terribly embarrassing. I felt such shame each time it occurred. I have been warned at work no personal calls. The DSL calls created enormous XXXX for me. On Friday, XX/XX/XXXX one day after DSL received notice not to call me, they continued to call me throughout the day while I was at work. My co-signer received NO calls that day. I did contact DSL on my commute home and when the DSL representative began to speak after being advised I was on a recorded line, and they were attempting to collect a debt. I asked what I owed. According to the DSL rep I spoke with it now exceeded it {$2600.00}. I asked what this amount represented? The DSL rep advised for XXXX and XXXX. I informed her XXXX was not late and XXXX was not due she replied : " I really don't know myself ". I will check, could you please hold on. I tried to hold on the line, but my train arrived, and the line disconnected when I boarded. DSL continues to call me. DSL was calling me continuously to collect a payment for XXXX ( not late ) and a payment not even due for XXXX. The collection practices of DSL are unfair. The reporting negatively to the credit bureaus is wrong. The rates that DSL gave me was the rates I " qualified for '' by DSL and they presented me the loan contracts to sign. I feel that my rights as a consumer do not exist. I believe I am a victim of predatory lending and bad faith practices. I do not understand why my loan, a private loan has no rights according to the laws and will allow this company DSL to victimize me. I do not even know if DSL held the interest rates properly on my account from start of pandemic to current day. I hope you can help. DSL has caused harm to my quality of life. DSL has compromised my employment without regard or respect for me as a woman, a person, their client. Thank you for your kind consideration and help.
