Consumer Complaint: Good day! I am writing concerning my experience with Discover that is both a grateful thank-you and a pressing request concerning a trade-line in my credit files that I would like to have revised. I received my Discover Card in early 2021 and took pride in the fact that all my payments were routinely made in a timely manner. Unfortunately, since then my life took an unfortunate turn. I lost my uncle, aunt, and brother to the horrid XXXXXXXX XXXX. This led me to fall into debt, and having to sell nearly everything of value that I owned. I was left in a very unfavorable position financially. Not only do I take care of my mom and younger brother, but I have had to make many sacrifices over the last two years in attempts to create a better financial situation ; I was forced to forfeit my school tuition because it was no longer within my abilities to afford. Concessions had to be made and regretfully, this led to late payments on my Discover secured credit card. The loss of income was a brutal wake-up call for me, and I now am attempting to make steady efforts step by step to hopefully avoid bankruptcy. I have gained two sources of income, as well as financial management skills to assure that I will never be late on a payment again. I am hoping to soon begin the process of purchasing my first vehicle, and it has come to my attention that the late notations from Discover may prevent me from taking full advantage of the best rate available. I am requesting that you grant me a second chance at a positive credit rating by allowing me to be relieved of all late notices under financial hardship ; and hopefully we can work out a payment plan to finish the remainder of the balance on the account. I sincerely hope that there is redemption at Discover, as I hope to remain a card member, I plead for such consideration. Consumer Complaint: Discover services closed my account and blocked my payment after an inquiry submission about a lost payment. After submitting a billing dispute and a CFPB complaint they closed my account and told me they closed it because we can. They will not investigate the late payment. It has been over a year. They have blocked my payments several times stating they now need the full amount. By doing so they caused harm by negatively reflecting false late payments to my credit and push the interest rates beyond XXXX XXXX XXXX they also have pulled my credit falsely putting applications in my name then denying the applications. They have broken many laws and have committed crimes against me which has resulted in extreme hardship. They are now threatening to put me in collections without proper investigation and even in XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I made a purchase that I immediately felt was fraudulent and cancelled right on the spot. I didn't sign anything nor received a receipt and was told by the merchant, the charge didn't go through. I went to immediately cancel on my credit card but it indicated charges pending and that a dispute wouldn't be permitted until charges went through. Charge is fraudulent. Vendor refuses to cooperate. Credit card finds in favor of vendor with no proof of valid services, document of swipe is the only evidence. Why did credit card not alert me to XXXX suspicious charges in XXXX and require my verification before pushing it through? It's done so on lesser suspicious charges. I feel this is a failure of the credit card to protect my consumer rights.

For some reason, I realized that there was a late payment on my credit report, I called DISCOVER BANK and they said their system mistakenly put me on paperless billing, which I did not request, and it caused my 30 day late. As you can see, I have always had a stellar payment record. I tried contacting XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and DISCOVER BANK with no successful resolution. XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX reporting me 30 days late in in XX/XX/2021. There was an error on their part. I was never 30 days late.

The only way someone couldve opened an account with them in my name is through obtaining my personal information, i misplace my identification documents all the time. This alleged Debt is not mine. Ive called them and they were very rude in helping me This is very sloppy. they havent validated this debt with any proof, when i called i asked what did they have that proved i owed this debt they said they could send me the list of charges on the account which i know isnt adequate per my knowledge of Consmer Laws i dont want to be all fancy and list the exact laws but if need be i will be doing so

This company is also in violation of GLBA because my consent is needed in order to share my non public information with nonaffiliate company such as XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. Consumer Complaint: Discover has an outage in which payments are denied and the phone lines are down, but they havent admitted they have an outage. Its being going on for several hours. XXXX and the XXXX XXXX are the only two info sources since the discover card folks responding on XXXX are pretending they dont know there is an outage. Their phone lines have a busy signal. This is affecting at least 5k customers based on people who have bothered to make a report at XXXX. But discover has made no official announcement or let folks know that their card isnt going to work if they try to use it. I was really hoping for groceries today.

Spoke with XXXX at the XXXX XXXX. She said the systems were down and they could not transfer money over the phone. I attempted to sign on to their web portal without success. Same message. I was transferred to XXXX XXXX at the XXXX XXXX. She said they could not help close my account and transfer my funds to linked checking account. She stated they had an unknown systems issue and could not determine how long it would take to resolve. I own this account and I should have access to my funds. This is unacceptable.
