Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: Discover is reporting an inaccurate charged off account on my credit reports that I am not familiar with. I have contacted them directly including the credit bureaus concerning this account requesting documents pertaining this account and have not received any sufficient proof proving that this is my account or that this debt belongs to me. Discover sent me back statements concerning this account in response to my letter requesting validation of debt which does not prove that this account is mine or belongs to me. A statement is not proof of debt. I have not received any documents with contract and signatures legally binding me to this debt. Furthermore, isn't Discover the creditor that the credit bureaus reach out to confirm or validate the debt? XXXX deleted this account from my reports so according to them, there isn't valid proof this account is mine. If XXXX could not validate this debt how is Discover able to validate this account? I am demanding that this account is deleted from my reports.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Today, XX/XX/23, I tried to make a payment on one of my family credit cards. We were the victims of bank fraud this week, so we had to move money around and open new accounts, so I didnt get to the site until the afternoon of the due date, about XXXX local time ( XXXX XXXX ). Oh, but apparently Discover has decided that the only valid time zone is Eastern, so they shut down payments at XXXX XXXX. So I cant make a payment today, the day Im actually paying. Nope! The payment will be applied tomorrow and well be charged a late fee. Calling them made no difference, though they did agree to waive the late fee. You know, just this once. This is a disgusting, predatory racket that allows them to charge people unwarranted fees and negatively impact peoples credit scores. I work with other banks and entities that accept bills as paid up to midnight local time. All banks should be required to do so in my opinion.
