Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I have disputed my Discover credit card for multiple charges by XXXX XXXX which were not initiated by me. I am sure that as a credit card company Discover can see where the charges are coming from with the name and XXXX XXXX. I had absolutely nothing to do with the fraudulent charges that were made to my Discover account. Discover assigned a XXXX agent to my case that would make fun of my accent and kept denying my claim as if I was the one that used the card and tried to dispute the charges. I am an old customer with Discover and I would never go as low as to use my card and blame it on fraud. Thanks God we live in the most advanced country with the most advanced technologies and for Discover not to be able to properly investigate and find the perpetrators is simply not true. Discover preferred to blame it on me rather than investigate the charges and find the real fraudsters. If I am guilty of committing this crime they should go ahead and charge me with fraud but instead they find the easiest solution-blame it all on the card holder.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: Use the discover card to purchase an item ( {$110.00} ) from a 3rd party seller on XXXX, back in XX/XX/2022. Item had defect and I returned the item in XX/XX/2022. Seller didnt issue refund and claimed they did not receive the return. I submitted the dispute with Discover in XXXX and now in XXXX they denied the dispute. Called Discover trying to resolve the issue, talked to a representative who could only recite a description like a robot and her supervisor refused to answer my call. Been with Discover for XXXX years and made one dispute, they chose to not believe the loyal customer and instead returned with the lowest quality customer service.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: I do not think that the way Discover card is calculating and charging me interest is correct. At best, their monthly statements are misleading and do not give consumers a clear indication of how much they need to pay to be able to avoid interest fees. I have some 0 % interest balance transfers on the card, and then I also use it for regular purchases each month. Each month I pay as much or more than my purchase amount so that I can avoid interest charges and pay down the 0 % balance transfer. However, I keep getting hit with interest charges regardless of how much I pay. It's as if they're charging me interest for my purchases from the day that I make the purchase rather than giving me the standard 30 days to pay off the balance. I have called numerous times trying to seek clarity on this issue. Last month, I even called and asked directly " how much do I need to pay you this month so that I will not be assessed interest charges? '' I then sent in MORE than I was told to pay and yet was still assessed interest charges. No one at Discover that I have talked with has been able to adequately explain this to me. This month when I called and asked the same question as above, I was told " we're actually not supposed to tell you that amount over the phone. '' So I just want someone else to take a look to make sure that the way they're assessing me is legit and that this is being clearly communicated, because I am a college-educated, literate person and am still not able to figure this out. I am attaching my statements for the past year so that you can review them. Thank you for your assistance.

Issue: False statements or representation
Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: I received and paid a bill for {$30.00} from XXXX for service on XX/XX/XXXX. They showed me what I would be paying up front as part of the no surprises act of XX/XX/XXXX as being {$30.00} but then charged my credit card ( which I had removed from my file so they had no authorization to still have my credit card information or to charge it ) on XX/XX/XXXX for {$160.00} and will not tell me what for, show me the itemized bill, or the proof from insurance they claim gave them the amount. They have provided nothing and since it was already charged and not submitted to me as a bill they won't respond since they already have their money and Discover won't do anything about it since I had already agreed to paying them the {$30.00} they consider that I authorized any future charges they may put on the card to be legitimate as well.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I ordered shirt from XXXX XXXX {$95.00} They sent me the wrong size. I returned the item to XXXX and paid additional {$35.00} for mail. The company kept the returned item and never reimbursed me. Discover card did not accept my 8 pages of proof and documents showing that I did return the item and that the XXXX initially sent me the wrong size. Discover card decided to side with the fraudulent XXXX company which has a history of reaping customers like me. I spoke at least 3 times with Discover agents who denied receiving my faxes and uploaded documents and finally decided to reward the fraudulent company instead of loyal customer like me that holds Discover card for 15 years and never missed a payment or rarely disputes.

Consumer Complaint: I am a student and for a long time I used my Discover student credit card because it provided good benefits. Over the summer of 2022, I traveled abroad and let Discover know that this was the case. I got stuck there with covid and forgot to extend the travel dates with discover, as a result of this, my account got flagged for fraudulent activity, and the only way to fix it was to fill out the physical form that they sent to the United States. For whatever reason, I submitted the form and they still couldn't verify that it wasn't fraudulent so they went ahead and closed my account resulting in not only a huge drop in my credit score because of a closed account but also I get automatically declined whenever I try to apply for the card again. This is extremely annoying because I've called, they cant help, and there was never any fraudulent activity in the first place.
