Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I am submitting this complaint regarding a purchase made with XXXX on XX/XX/2022. I am asserting claims and defenses due to the seller refusing to fix the issue. I initiated a dispute with Discover Card on XX/XX/2022 and they have also refused to fix the issue. Prior to purchasing the vacation package with XXXX, I contacted XXXX via telephone and was provided information which contradicts the package I received. First, the sales individuals are very difficult to understand due to XXXX outsourcing their sales calls outside of the United States. I was provided very different information at the time of my call and was told my trip would be refundable if I needed to cancel or change plans. I was also told about the insurance plan through XXXX which was part of this charge that would also cover my trip. As you can see from the initial email I received after purchasing my vacation package, there is no mention of their terms and conditions regarding non-refundable tickets. The last email Discover sent stated information was insufficient and awarded the decision in favor of XXXX, it clearly indicates on my sales receipt that there is no mention of their terms and conditions. The receipts is very vague and does not provide even a break down of the purchase. There is also not a price breakdown of the vacation package which leaves the consumer with no idea of what they are being charged for. After we realized we needed to change the dates of our trip due to a court hearing/custody issues related to a current divorce proceeding, XXXX attempted to charge us XXXX times the original amount we paid to transfer the dates. When I went online to XXXX and entered the exact same trip that day it was the same price as we had originally paid on the date of purchase. Meanwhile, XXXX was attempting to charge us XXXX times the amount we originally paid. XXXX uses scandalous tactics and is deceitful when purchasing their vacation packages. As you can see from the receipts provided to my email after my purchase, their terms and conditions are not even mentioned. The receipt is very vague and provides very little information to the consumer. Every phone call I made to XXXX, I was provided with different information from the initial purchase to several attempts to transfer the dates. I was never provided with a consistent answer from XXXX. I do not believe this charge was fair as XXXX was not clear of their terms in the information that was provided to me during my initial phone call to inquire about the vacation package, initial purchase and in the receipt I received after my transaction on XX/XX/2022. To date, I have not received any credits for the airline purchases etc. XXXX has not made any attempts to rectify the situation or refund any portion. I have been fastidious about trying to come to some sort of resolution but XXXX and Discover have have not made any attempts to make any type of compensation.

Consumer Complaint: The denial of my credit applications on the XX/XX/2023 used several decisive factors as a basis for denying me access to my own credit. This is a violation of 15 U.S. Code ss 1611. The basis for denial are listed below for Discover >Recent delinquency shown on credit file >Serious delinquency, settlement, bankruptcy, lien or garnishment The information is not only inaccurate, but has no legally-valid basis for consideration in making a credit approval decision. Under 15 U.S. Code 1681, Discover has engaged in adverse action by unlawfully denying me access to a line of credit. A letter detailing these violations has been mailed to Discover Underwriter on XX/XX/2023 to correct these errors.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I filed a transaction dispute for the transaction of {$45.00} XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2022. Discover first resolved the transaction in my favor but later reopened the dispute and resolved it in the merchant 's favor. The transaction was unauthorized because I made a valid transaction with the merchant on the same day for {$64.00} but the waitress charged my card for a further {$45.00} without my knowledge. I did not sign a receipt for {$45.00} and if they have evidence of this I would ask them to show it. When I called, the agent advised me to submit proof of the {$64.00} purchase, but why would that even be relevant if I'm not disputing that transaction? It makes no sense.

Subissue: Credit card company forcing arbitration
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I found out by checking my account that Discover Card had replaced a {$4000.00} charge back on my card which had been disputed. They initially gave me a credit for the {$4000.00} in XXXX and I heard nothing more. When questioned, they said it went to arbitration and was found to be valid. They didn't see where I had provided any documents. I had no idea it went to arbitration. I did upload the limited documents I had ( maybe a web page issue ), since the merchant had closed the portal showing my messages when I attempted to copy them for the credit card company. Discover Card never contacted me about documents, knowing full well that for a {$4000.00} dispute, I would have uploaded what documented I had. I explained this on XX/XX/XXXX, but Discover Card refused to reopen the investigation. Therefore, I have this huge credit utilization increase without any warning and an arbitration I knew nothing about.

Consumer Complaint: The total balance is {$5500.00}. I sent out a VALIDATION OF DEBT on XX/XX/XXXX23, a NOTICE OF FAULT / OPPORTUNITY TO CURE on XX/XX/XXXX, and a NOTICE OF DEFAULT / CERTIFICATE OF DISHONOR on XX/XX/XXXX23 along with an AFFIDAVIT OF TRUTH. I requested validation of the alleged debt made pursuant to the FDCPA laws, listed my terms in my documents, and they provided no proof that there is a valid debt owed. I received a notice from the company on XX/XX/XXXX23, which simply stated that they had conducted their own investigation and the debt was valid. The credit card company closed my account on XX/XX/XXXX2023.
