Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: Last summer I participated in a XXXX campaign for toy animals which ended XX/XX/XXXX and was charged {$70.00} for my pledge on my Discover card. The creator 's last post was XX/XX/XXXX and has subsequently vanished. There was no survey sent out, no one involved received their items, and one of the other backers discovered the " creator '' had used photographs of someone else 's creations which are available on XXXX. Backers involved including myself contacted XXXX who have done nothing despite the person behind the campaign clearly having taken the money and run. Some backers contacted their banks and were refunded. I paid via Discover card and opened a dispute for my {$70.00}. Well, despite their claims otherwise Discover does not protect their customers. The dispute department discerned based on zero evidence that it was a valid transaction and refuses to refund my money. They demanded proof and I showed them copies of the very public discussions between the backers over the past 8 months saying they'd gotten no response from the " creator '' whatsoever. It's been repeatedly reported to XXXX who've done nothing. I made a purchase and received nothing. It's not a case of the creator having difficulties or delays. This is quite obviously a case of " take the money and run ''. There is no other proof I can show other than 'I along with other py paid for something and never received it, AND the person behind the campaign is a scanner '. I have been a good customer with Discover since XXXX and I can't believe they'd be willing to lose me over {$70.00}. Other people got their money back. This is ridiculous.

Consumer Complaint: I booked a rental space through XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX to have old friends get together again for {$640.00}. Prior to our arrival the space had a horrible odor, everything didn't match the photos the host posted on XXXX. There were a lot of fingerprints on the TV and glasses ( plates and cups ), thick dust, extreme dirt, the couch was damaged and tears, one of my group friends got really sick from XXXX due to dust and odor, there are few on the list. I reported XXXX about this situation and sent photos for evidence purposes and they found the policy and house violations against the host. They recommendedthat I file a dispute charge through Discover credit card company because the host refused to refund when XXXX requested the host to do so. I contacted Discover on the phone with XXXX to file for dispute and she said she can not be able to help so I filed a complaint through XXXX and got a response from XXXX through XXXX that he can not do anything to solve this matter. Keep that in mind, I used my stage name known as XXXX XXXX XXXX on XXXXXXXX account.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: Have a letter fron Discover Bank saying the account is closed. Yet I still receive e-mails with various transactions ex post facto. The latest a payment/credit of {$4.00}. Will the CFPB get off its seated parts and ensure the account to be closed and these patently phony transactions cease. Just another brick in the evidentiary wall of Discover Bank silly infantile incompetence. Bye the bye it proves and reinforces ALL the previous compaints which were NEVER properly resolved.

Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I have been working for months to resolve an incorrect late payment on my credit report. Discover says to dispute it with the credit bureaus, they say Discover needs to correctly report the account as never late. As usual the consumer gets XXXX by these negligent companies that make you go through 30 min. of security hoops and hold times every time you try to contact them. In XXXXXXXX XXXX an unauthorized {$2.00} charge was made on my mom 's Discover card without her knowledge and went unnoticed. She was subsequently in and out of the hospital and did not check her statement, since the account balance ( as far as she knew ) was XXXX. Discover reported this as 2 late payments, 60 days and 30 days. My mom called Discover when she learned of the issue and replaced the card, and added me as an authorized signer to try to help resolve the problem. The 60 day late payment was removed, but not the 30 day late payment, which is still on there damaging my mom 's and my credit score. Discover continues, month after month, to claim that they have fixed the issue and are not reporting the late payment any more, and that I should dispute with the credit bureaus it if I want it resolved quickly. The credit bureaus insist that they are accurately reporting it and that Discover is still reporting a late payment. The last time I contacted them, XXXX completely deleted the account altogether then denied any knowledge of it. I was able to get it restored but the late payment is once again on both credit reports. This applies to XXXX and XXXX. XXXX stubbornly refuses to list the account at all.

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I made a purchase for {$3900.00} on XX/XX/XXXX to XXXX XXXX, which was going bankrupt around the time of my purchase. I was informed in XXXX of XXXX that my purchase : " During XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX became unable to place orders with vendors due to the inability to pay. Production of your order had not been started with the manufacturer. Currently, this order will not be able to be fulfilled. '' In XXXX, I tried filing a dispute with my credit card company, Discover, because we spent the money and will not be receiving the product we ordered. After a month of waiting, I was told we didn't have the correct documentation to approve the dispute in our favor. The Discover employees said I need proof that XXXX XXXX said they would refund me and haven't, but XXXX XXXX has never said that. However, they have taken my money and not provided the product I ordered. There have been numerous people in the same situation who used a different credit card company and were given their money back by the company after their dispute.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed
Consumer Complaint: My IRA transaction was incompetently handled at Discover bank and they failed to respond to calls both by telephone or written letter sent by certified mail. I made my {$7000.00} traditional IRA contribution for the prior year ( XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX to my existing IRA savings account via ACH transfer which was mistakenly confirmed as this year 's ( XXXX ) contribution. After I sent a message notifying Discover of the discrepancy I received a secure reply on the morning of XX/XX/XXXX stating that the contribution " would be reclassified and coded to the prior year in 2-4 days ''. However, 10 days went by without a response, and when I called the customer service number I was given conflicting replies that did not address the problem at all. I put all the detailed information in writing and mailed the letter and corresponding documentation to their customer service department by certified mail on XX/XX/XXXX and still have not received a response to such a simple matter. I am totally frustrated and can't comprehend or understand how the Discover bank can operate in such a manner. As they are an online bank they seem to just take in money but do not service clients and they have no branch locations so we have no recourse.
