Consumer Complaint: This account has been charged off and written off for tax purposes. I have disputed the information because not only has it been written off and I did not receive a 1099c but it also still shows a past due balance even after being charged off. It is reporting incorrectly and I believe it to be in violation of my rights per the FCRA.

Subissue: Can't use card to make purchases
Consumer Complaint: My Credit Line was suspended in XX/XX/2023 due to non payment. I was not aware of this until XXXX, 2023, as I tried to use the card for a purchase. In XXXX, 2023, i paid off most of the account, not knowing it was suspended. The account manager i spoke with, did not inform me that my account was suspended. I put myself in financial trouble trying to pay this balance off. The reason why the card was maxed out was that i had XXXX in XXXX and so did my daughter. I had to purchase everything with XXXX XXXX. It was very expensive. Since, my suspension, i was told nothing more than suspension reviews were conducted every month. I was given no review, or opportunity or even instruction on how to re-instate my account. In XX/XX/2023, I spoke with a review manager on the account and was told that my account would not be re-instated until my debt was paid off on my credit report from another company, not Discover. How is this right? I am forced to pay a credit card i can not use, and not able to use it because I owe a different company money.

Consumer Complaint: I have been a Discover card customer since 2007, with a current FICO score of XXXX. I am being charged a variable rate, currently at 19.99 %. My credit line is {$26000.00}. How can Discover trust me with a substantial credit line, and at the same time charge this exorbitant interest rate? It doesn't make sense. I spoke to a customer service representative and asked if my zip code had any thing to do with this high rate. She assured me it did not. I can't be certain but somehow I get the sense that nonwhite people are being charged more than their white counter-parts. Please look into Discover card 's business practices to ascertain that unfair discriminatory decisions are not being applied. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I have a fixed rate, fixed term personal loan with Discover Personal Loans. I have run an amortization calculation, and due to me have been paying MORE than the minimum payments, I am ahead on my pay off balance. As of the XX/XX/XXXX statement that I received, I should have paid less than {$22.00} in interest based on my current balance, and discover charged me {$32.00} in interest. According to the amortization calculation on a fixed rate, fixed term loan, and where the current balance is. Discover is charging more interest based on a special additional calculation that they added in, which resulted in me paying more in interest than I was supposed to be paying over that 30 day window.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Banking errors
Consumer Complaint: We opened an account with Discover Bank in XXXX of this year with {$25000.00}. During this time period Discover bank was running a promotion of crediting savings accounts opened with an additional {$200.00} if the balance deposited was {$25000.00} or greater. After initialing opening the account, I didn't see any confirmation of the {$200.00} credit. I contacted customer service who told me a code needed inputted to receive the credit. They assured me that the code had been applied and I should receive the {$200.00} in our account within the next two months. Two months later, we still hadn't received any credit. I contacted customer service numerous times and they informed me that no code had been applied. They asked me for the code which I no longer had. I sent them a similar Discover promotion online with a code and they informed me that that code was no longer valid and they would not be able to credit me the {$200.00}. I had told them my previous conversation with customer service at the time of opening the account and if they checked their records they could see that I had been assured all was in order and that I would receive the credit. They did not even respond to this other than to say they were unable to give me the credit. It felt like a bait and switch scam. We have closed this account as we do not want to do business with an unreputable company. We are also contacting the Ohio XXXX Attorney General as we feel there may be a class of people that this involves and could also involve criminal activity by the bank. We are seniors and feel we were treated with little regard and taken advantage of. Thanks for all you do! XXXX and XXXX XXXX
