Consumer Complaint: I opened a secured card with Discover. Opening the card required a deposit. I paid an {$800.00} deposit which allowed for a secured credit card balance of {$800.00}. After reporting unrecognized charges, Discover conducted XXXX investigation. Discover decided to close the secured credit card account. Discover never returned the {$800.00} deposit. Discover reported XXXX late payments to XXXX credit report however, payments were never late. The late payments Discover is reporting were related to reversed temporary credits during the investigation. After they did not find in my favor and determined I was responsible for the fraudulent charges, reversing the temporary credit, Discover claims resulted in late payments. Further, Discover still refuses to return my {$800.00} deposit. The account has been closed for XXXX years.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I took out a personal loan for {$10000.00} with Discover. I made the final payment for this personal loan on XX/XX/XXXX, in the amount of {$730.00}. This payment settled my account in full, completely paying all interest/principal that was due. Discover has not reported this payoff to the credit bureaus, and this personal loan account still shows as open on my XXXX credit report with a balance due.

Consumer Complaint: Recently, I began taking my credit more seriously and noticed a few items on my credit report that were reporting inaccurately. I have tried to resolve those issue but no luck. I was faced financial hardship losing my job due to the pandemic layoff. The CARES Act, passed in XXXX XXXX gave legal protection to consumers by providing loan forbearance. Under the act, consumers were given the option of not making payments on their loans without suffering any credit-related consequences, like late payments and delinquencies. Also, creditors must make accommodations for people having trouble making payments. But I was never contacted. Due to covid-19 forbearance program regulations it states that no late payments are to be reported to the financial credit bureau during the time of Covid forbearance period. I have late payments on my report that I want to be removed because I am a victim of Covid 19 and legally you should not have put them there. The program regulations 15 USC 13 ( a ) states that no late payments are to be reported to the financial credit bureau during the time of Covid forbearance period.

Consumer Complaint: The presence of a derogatory rating on my account is deeply concerning to me. I am worried about the impact it may have on my credit, as it has already resulted in the denial of a recent loan application and an increase in the interest rates on my existing credit accounts. I want to emphasize the significant financial and emotional distress this negative rating has caused me and will continue to cause until it is resolved.

Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of fraud. I filed a police report with my local Police Dept. Discover first credited me for the fraud and then charged me with the fraud on the replacement card. I now have a XXXX point drop in my credit and the fees and interest on the Discover Card continue to accrue. I can provide proof that Discover removed the fraudulent charges. I can provide a copy of the Police Report. I canceled the Discover Card. I am still being harassed by monthly bills, interest, penalties and my credit destroyed because of Discover. Thank you.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Consumer Complaint: Discover offered a credit card promotion and then put double interest into place. they kept increasing my credit limit etc and I really didn't understand their intent to increase interest. Finally I contacted them again for the 3rd time and they agreed to lower the interest rate. making it like it was my fault vs a partnership decision and they played no role in it. their advertising is a joke making it like they are your advocate. I am attaching a copy of what they agreed to and what their comments were. they assured me this was only " : in house '' and would not affect my credit or credit on the bureaus. I am writing this to make sure it does not. I will be paying this off and then I will make the decision whether they are closed or not as I just closed XXXX XXXX XXXX cards due to interest and will only work with the ones with low interest and XXXX charges for credit card holding.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: This complaint is about Discover closing my Discover It card with the vague reason of being " unable to verify personal information '' even though I have promptly submitted to them my ID verification signed by a licensed notary in a local bank branch. On XX/XX/2023, I received an identity verification request from Discover asking me to submit an ID Verification form signed by a licensed notary in two weeks to prevent card closure. Only after one day, I visited a local bank branch, get the form notarized, and submit it to Discover 's website. In the email requesting this document, Discover told me that they would give me the result of this verification in two weeks. In the following two weeks, I received absolutely no feedback from Discover. When I called to inquire about the progress of this ID verification, the agent told me that the company did receive the document but, due to the large amount of ID verification going on, has been failing to meet the two-week promise of feedback. " That's not a problem at all '', I said to her because I just wanted my form to be verified so I could continue to use my card. My Discover IT card is my first card and I wanted to use it to help build my credit, so I sincerely wish to continue to use it. I had never heard from Discover about this ID verification until today, XX/XX/2023, when Discover suddenly sent me a letter stating that they had made the decision to close my account due to the inability to verify my personal information. The letter provided no other reason, and neither any detail on why they could not verify my ID. Shocked and confused, I called Discover Customer Service for an inquiry. The person to whom I was transferred, who claims that she was in charge of closing accounts, coldly and impatiently provided me with the exact same information in the letter I received. I asked her which part of my notarized form had a problem, and she replied, refusing to say one more word about it : " That's all the information I get here ''. I told her that they could have told me which part of the document was not meeting their requirement so I could re-submit it, and she told me that that was impossible because their team took more than two weeks to review my document, so the result becomes final when it comes out. By saying so, she affirmed that it was the company 's reviewing team, not me, who deprived me of the opportunity to re-submit the document. Lastly, she yelled at me and ask me to STOP TALKING while refusing to provide any further information about why my card is closed without a clear reason. Hence, Discover closed my card, without providing a single clue why my card was closed. I responded to Discover 's ID verification request the day after they sent me the email. In contrast, Discover provided me the result far past due, while not allowing me to have any other option but to accept their arrangement because of their own failure to review my document on time. Although Discover stated that I can re-apply for their card, it is predictable that I will face the same situation of being requested an identity verification, and have my second card closed due to the same vague reason.
