Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX after speaking with numerous customer service representatives, I sent the following letter to Discover : " To whom it may concern, I am writing with regards to a discrepancy on my bill. In XX/XX/XXXX, I did a balance transfer and since then I have spent hours ( and I do mean hours ), trying to reconcile the numbers. According to my calculations, I owe ( round numbers ) {$1300.00}, according to my statement closing date XX/XX/XXXX, the remainder due on the balance transfer is {$1500.00}. Every month I've made a payment in excess of the current charges, assuming whatever was left over would be applied to the transfer. And even though the current charges were paid in full, I was still being charged interest. I've stopped using the card and it remains to be seen if I ever use it again. Meantime, I am requesting a month-by-month breakdown DO NOT SEND a convoluted, undecipherable computer printout. I want to see line by line how my payments were applied by bill date, ie current charges were... payment was this much... this was left over and applied to the loan, etc. '' Their first response was sending a form letter on how they calculate and assess interest charges. I wrote a second time- they responding by sending a copy of the XXXX XXXX. I then called the XXXX XXXX of Customer Advocacy and again requested, " month-by-month breakdown DO NOT SEND a convoluted, undecipherable computer printout. I want to see line by line how my payments were applied by bill date, ie current charges were... payment was this much... this was left over and applied to the loan, etc. '' I received another copy of the XXXX XXXX and copies of the last six months of billing statements. I called again today and was told what they sent was the response to my inquiry. No it is not. If Discover can't explain in real numbers how my payments were applied, how am I supposed to figure it out?

Consumer Complaint: I got XXXX on XX/XX/2022. Around that same time, I had a house fire and had to evacuate and move into temporary housing. I was overwhelmed by both recovering from XXXX and managing the home repairs and restoration. I forgot to set up autopay for my discover credit card. I reached out to Discover and they reimbursed the late fee charge. The customer service agent understood that this incident is classified under the CARES Act. However, Discover card refuses to remove this late payment from my report. I have reached out to XXXX, XXXX and XXXX regarding removing the late payment. However, they all mention that the lender, Discover would have to " unreport '' it. I have already paid of my entire balance with Discover but they are still refusing to acknowled the CARES Act. I am hoping to have the late payment removed in order to improve my credit so I can buy another home for my family. My credit score has been negatively impacted by this late payment and I am not sure I will qualify for a home loan I can afford.

Consumer Complaint: The presence of a derogatory rating on my account is causing me great concern. I am deeply worried about the impact it may have on my credit. It has already led to the denial of a recent loan application and an increase in the interest rates on my existing credit accounts. I want to emphasize the severe financial and emotional distress that this negative rating has caused me and will continue to cause until it is resolved.

Consumer Complaint: Discover card has been using my information to file inaccurate reports at the credit bureau. I trusted them with my information and what they have done for months is abuse my information, to the point that it feels criminal. Discover card told me on a recorded conversation that what they tell the credit bureau doesn't matter and if I wanted to get a loan all I had to do was call them. This is not true and for them to say something like this to me says they can not be trusted with my information. Any and all they do with my information from this point forward will be documented and viewed as identity theft. I believe that I am not the only person they filed false balances for, I have conversations with them I have not posted yet that prove they are engaging in consumer fraud

Consumer Complaint: The Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S. Code 1681 ) says ( 1 ) The banking system is dependent upon fair and accurate credit reporting. Inaccurate credit reports directly impair the efficiency of the banking system, and unfair credit reporting methods undermine the public confidence which is essential to the continued functioning of the banking system. So whenever there is a violation under the FCRA, it impairs the efficiency of the banking system. This is a violation of my privacy with my consumer report, since I control what is listed and what is not. In the event that any accounts are reported without my written consent, that is considered identity theft. This is a violation of both 15 U.S. Code 1681b ( 2 ) and 15 U.S. Code 1681c-2. This leads way to civil liability against the credit reporting agency for negligent and willful noncompliance under 15 U.S. Code 1681n, which allows for {$1000.00} per violation, for account listed without my expressed written consent.
