Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: The original balance being reported owed is {$1500.00}, yet it's being reported the balance owed is {$1500.00}. Also, a collection account can't have a past due amount. To many clear inaccuracies as this is grounds for deletion and to be in compliance with FCRA guidelines. Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: I have been receiving letters and a voicemail message from XXXX offering a discount on a debt of {$2500.00} that needed to be taken care of. They said they were issuing a 1099C against me. I had no idea what the debt was for so I went to the website and found that it was a debt that my ex-husband incurred several years after our divorce was final XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX, TX. I found the case online and stated that it was not my debt that I had been divorced since XXXX and requested they cease and desist contacting me for a debt that I did not owe. In less than 2 weeks they called my husband 's phone and requested to speak with XXXX XXXX ( my ex-husband 's name ). They said they were collecting a debt that I owed and he gave me the phone. I informed the woman on the phone that it could not possibly be my debt because it happened several years after my divorce. I only know that because I asked her what year it was from. I informed her that I had a voicemail from her company stating that they would report me to the credit bureau and IRS. She said that her company does not ever threaten to do that ( see attached folder ). I also requested that she send me some proof with my signature on it for the debt they were collecting. I have not received that from them, just papers to fill out for fraud. I can not fill out fraud papers if I do not know what the debt is for or if someone was impersonating me in the mid XXXX. They have refused to listen to me or address my request for proof of a debt that is over 25 years old. Unfortunately I am tied to that man since I was married to him from XXXX to XXXX. After some research I did discover that he died in XX/XX/XXXX. I have had no contact with him since the divorce and do not know what happened in his life since XXXX. I do know that the debt is not mine. I had to pay off his tax debts for the last 2 years of our marriage because he would not file his taxes. I have received no proof that my name or signature was ever on that debt. It is not on my credit report and this company needs to be reported. I am attaching a transcript from the voicemail that stated they had filled out a 1099C tax form. Fraud forms sent to me are from Convergent Outsourcing , Inc showing creditor as XXXX XXXX, XXXX

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from Convergent dated XX/XX/XXXX Indicating that I had an outstanding XXXX XXXX XXXX debt of nearly {$8000.00} going back to XXXX of XXXX. I responded that this is not my debt. I have never dealt with XXXX XXXX, nor with The XXXX XXXX. I then received a letter from Convergent dated XX/XX/XXXX asking me to complete a notarized affidavit outlining all of my personal and private information. This affidavit boldly stated on each page not to notify the FTC or any other government agency. I called them to tell them I would not offer any personal or private information and that I would file a complaint with the FTC. I also indicated that I would consider having the information reviewed by my lawyer. I believe this to be a scam.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was already discharged in bankruptcy and is no longer owed

Consumer Complaint: I have been trying to get this resolved for quite some time and it has now affected my credit. I got this account back on XX/XX/2020 and I got a phone for my daughter because she lived alone. The original phone was stolen at her job. When we went to get a replacement, the store we went to said they didn't have original phone on the account in stock. Needless to say, she decided to upgrade her phone and the store we went to screwed my account up. The guy decided to give her a upgrade by creating a new line and putting it as a camera on my account to get a new phone. The bill started getting out of control and to a point where the payments were very high as a phone bill. My daughter called and was told she could return the phone and it would be closed. When we called XXXX, they informed us that the location we went to was not an original XXXX location under them. We tried to return the phone because that was what she was really having to pay for but we have not gotten anywhere with it. I now have an outstanding balance of {$1800.00} on my credit report. I called XXXX recently and they said it is in collections and the company, Convergent Outsourcing, quoted me a balance of {$2100.00} and offered to settle for {$1400.00} and then said the lowest was {$1300.00}. I have received nothing but the run arounds and I want it off my credit so I can move to a new house. This one thing is holding me up. This is ridiculous for a phone that's not being used. The phone is still in great condition. XXXX said it couldn't be handled by them because the debt was in collections. I was given false information. I need help getting this resolved ASAP!
