Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: The debt collector, Convergent, is claiming that I owe a cable provider debt that I do not owe. They claim that this debt was incurred in XXXX this is OUTRIGHT FALSE. The last time I had cable television in my name was in XXXX or XXXX. As far as I remember, that account was closed satisfactorily with no payment due. However, even if this were not the case, this debt would be over XXXX XXXX XXXX. Furthermore, I lived in XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX until XX/XX/XXXX. Since I was there working the refugee crisis, my time in XXXX is well documented via major media like XXXX XXXX, and social media pages. At best, this company is REAGING old debt to make it appear new. A practice illegal and violating my rights to have my credit reported ACCURATELY. At worst, they are making up debt all together. Because I am rebuilding my credit and have VERY LIMITED number of accounts, the damage of this collection account has been immense and I have been rejected from many financial opportunities. I can not even get approved for the smallest card amounts and have been unable to rebuild my name because of their illegal practices. I disputed this account with XXXX back in XXXX and this company verified the false information they are providing and XXXX took their word for it without an further investigation that would have concluded this is NOT a valid debt or that it could possibly be recycled and reaged. As such, I would like to file a complaint against both XXXX and Convergent. But especially against Convergent. For them to intentionally cause financial harm to Americans with false information after everything we went through with COVID shutdowns is particularly repulsive.

Consumer Complaint: I received no notice of debt owed. The only way I found out about the collection was through an alert from the XXXX XXXX app on my phone. I received no phone calls, emails or mail from this company, yet they are reporting an account that I had with them. When I initially disputed this through the credit bureau, the account was simply updated to paid, but I never paid them directly. When I called for more information, they said that I should reach out to the original creditor, but it made no sense because it shows that I have an account with them that was. Even after requesting information in writing, I've received nothing.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I am seeking help to rectify an unfortunate situation involving identify theft and a collection company that will not cease collection attempts after I already supplied them a police report stating identity theft. I received a bill from XXXX a few months that I disregarded, because I am not a XXXX customer and thought it was scam trying to get me to pay. Then, I received a letter from Convergent XXXX stating I had been sent to collections and the debt hit my credit report. I immediately filed a police report ( attached ) and have followed up XXXX times with them to get this resolved. Nobody is responding to my emails and I can not reach their phone system, yet I'm still receiving their letters in the mail demanding payment. This is very unethical and I need help to stop the process so I can remove this fraudulent debt from my credit.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX / XXXX of XXXX I noticed a collections account added to my CR from Convergent. I contacted them regarding the invalid information posted and asked for verification that I owe them any money. The account they claim to have been sent was from XXXX. I reached out to XXXX and was told that I do NOT have any account in collections, but I did have a past due balance. I paid the amount in question to them. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a response from Convergent with my XXXX bills from XXXX through XXXX. I searched through all of the documentation, and I saw nothing stating that I owe any money to Collections. It did show my payment for the past due balance on paid XX/XX/XXXX. I looked at the XXXX bill to see if there are any mentions of Convergent in the " Ways to pay your bill : '' section and saw nothing. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent a letter to Convergent via certified mail. I see that it was delivered XX/XX/XXXX, at XXXXXXXX XXXX. and signed for by XXXX XXXX. As of my submitting this complaint I have not received any response from Convergent and this invalid derogatory information is still posted on my Credit Reports.

Consumer Complaint: The name of the company is Convergent Outsourcing. They constantly taunt and harass me about information they retrieved from the dark web. They claimed to have received my information from XXXX, this is false information. I spoke with a representative from XXXX and they have never heard from the company let alone given away my information. I asked the Convergent representative can I call XXXX on a recorded three way call they continued to decline. I requested to see a contract between XXXX and Convergent Outsourcing and they declined. This company has stolen my information from the dark web and I was warned by an alert on my XXXX account.

Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I have been working to gain clarity of a matter with Convergent Outsourcing since I first received correspondence from them in XX/XX/XXXX. They sent me a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX that resembled a paper check from the outside of the envelope. Once opened, there are several different mailing addresses listed on the letter with repeated mention of XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX WA for accepting payment, the same address solely listed on the envelope without a business letterhead or address. After sending a debt validation letter, it was over 42 days before I received a response claiming a verified debt with attempts to collect, almost two weeks past the federal law limit. The documents received did not outline liability for the debt nor did I receive detailed information including proof of legal status to run this collection account, per my requests. I did my own investigation and learned that not only is Convergent Outsourcing 's po box address is not listed on their foreign business license in the state of Nevada ; but the information that I asked to be provided and had to find out on my own is unfair and inaccurate. Everything mentioned constitutes FDCPA violation also breaking Nevada state law. ( NRS 649-370, NRS 649-375 ( 2 ) ( 4 ), 15 USC 1692e ( 2 ) [ a ], 15 USC 1692f 808 [ 1 ] ) According to my records, after sending an initial debt validation letter XX/XX/XXXX, Convergent Outsourcing received my request letter XX/XX/XXXX. The letter I received back is dated XX/XX/XXXX but postmarked XX/XX/XXXX. This is another deceptive practice to attempt too collect upon a debt not owed. On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent a letter requesting further detailed information again regarding this purported debt noting the clear FDCPA violations already made. However, 30 days later and I haven't received a response. After reaching out in accordance to the FCRA, requesting verification of this account and demanding proof of legal rights to furnish confidential and personal information, Convergent Outsourcing has failed to follow up or give any details into their erroneous ways in a timely fashion. This account is linked to fraud activity/erroneous reporting from ( XXXX XXXX ), which is currently reporting on my credit. I need correspondence for my records to correlate the facts of this inaccurate matter and Convergent Outsourcing has made it beyond difficult to maintain proper recordkeeping by attempting to collect a debt under deceptive practices as well as unethical business structure.
