Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I recently changed wireless carriers from XXXX to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Of course, this was not without hiccups and challenges. While waiting for my final bill ( but not being behind on the XXXX bill at all ), I received a collection notice from a company called Convergent. My account was not yet even 30 days from the final bill and I still have not received said bill. I had made at least one payment toward the bill directly to XXXX less than 5 days prior to receiving the notice from Convergent, and XXXX has verified that I my account has not been written off or put into collections. Despite this, I am fully aware that Convergent had to get my information from somewhere. With this reason, I would like to formally file complaints against both parties, XXXX and Convergent.

Consumer Complaint: Hello XXXX XXXX XXXX I have been having an issue with XXXX. I started new service in XXXX and received XXXX new XXXX - there was a promotion to get {$800.00} credit for each used returned XXXX. I sent in XXXX XXXX XXXX for a credit of {$1600.00}. Since we did a change of responsibility on the original account ( as the store manager instructed me to do )- they took the credit off my new account. ( If I had the old phones - I could at least sell them ) They have tried to charge this to my XXXX XXXX card twice ( both times I disputed the charge and XXXX backed me up ) I was promised a call back on Monday XX/XX/XXXX. If I do not receive a call resolving this matter - I will seek legal action. Please stop collection on this debt and do not report this to credit agencies - I am doing all I can to resolve this with XXXX directly. Thank You.. XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I monitor my credit via XXXX XXXX. I found out about an account that was opened in my name XX/XX/XXXX when it appeared on my credit reports as a collection in the amount of {$340.00}. Original creditor was XXXX XXXX, cable/internet/phone provider for the XXXX XXXX valley. I do not have cable. I do not have a landline. I have used a smaller internet company for the past 10 years. I did not open an account with XXXX XXXX. This company refuses to give me any proofs/documentation or anything else proving I did and I have disputed the collection 3 times with the credit bureaus, to no avail. Reaching out to XXXX directly XX/XX/XXXX unable to receive help by phone so I used their chat service and emailed the transcript to myself, which Im including in this complaint. 3 different agents promised to help me in my efforts to remove the fraudulent account but only transferred me around to different departments, ending in sales to upgrade service that I dont have. Wanting a supervisor, XXXX XXXX in sales flashed a XXXX number then promptly removed it then ended the communication abruptly. This is not my debt. I am the victim of fraud and it is wrong to put the burden of proof on the victim. Additionally, I have suffered other recent fraud/theft ( including burglary ). When I went to my local police station they would only file a report on the burglary. I was told to contact the FBI for any and all fraud. This fraudulent account with XXXX XXXX has devestated my credit scores as it is listed as High Impact. Today I was denied a home loan ( my first ) because of it.
