Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I am disputing this debt because I know that the amount is wrong and the account with XXXX was closed on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX. I started service with XXXX XXXX in XXXX of XXXX and had 2 years to pay off the new phones and before services could be cancelled. The phones were paid off in XX/XX/XXXX despite one of the lines not being in use for over a year because of a lost phone. I called XXXX to cancel my service in XXXX of XXXX and it was officially cancelled on the XXXX. I never received any type of communication from XXXX that any money was owed or a final bill notice. Towards the end of XX/XX/XXXX, I received a collection notice in the mail regarding this account. I called XXXX customer service several times and was unable to get any information or this issue resolved because I had forgotten my passcode for the account and was told I had to go to a store to get this resolved. I went to the store located in the XXXX outlets in XXXX, GA on XX/XX/XXXX and was assisted by an employee named XXXX XXXX. XXXX called up customer service and was on the phone for over an hour trying to get this resolved. There was a female customer service representative on the phone and said that no money was owed, and the issue was resolved. A few weeks later I received another collection notice, and the amount was higher. I called up convergent on XX/XX/XXXX and explained the situation. I was told by the male rep on the phone to call XXXX and that a rep would assist me over the phone. I called XXXX again several times and kept being told that no information could be discussed without the account passcode. I went back to the XXXX store in XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke with the XXXX named XXXX XXXX XXXX I came in distressed and left in more distress than when I arrived. The manager was rude and by his physical body language he clearly did not want to help me. He told me it was out of their control and not to worry about it. XXXX XXXX happened to be there this day and I asked her to explain what happened when I was there last month. So the manager finally agreed to call customer service. After doing his research per XXXX XXXX XXXX I was still being billed for the second phone line and that there was no evidence that any bills were sent to me or any type of notifications. Per XXXX XXXX XXXX since I had already transferred to another service to not worry about this issue. After this visit at the store I received a third collection notice. How can a cell phone company justify billing a customer after they close their account?

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to bring attention to a concerning matter concerning my credit file. I have observed the presence of a collection entry from your agency, which has caught my attention as I was not previously informed about this collection. Furthermore, I hold serious doubts about the accuracy of the debt being claimed. As per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I have the right to request validation of the debt. Thus, I kindly request that you provide me with the required validation and take appropriate actions to address this issue.

Consumer Complaint: To dismiss the unjust Bill of {$84.00} for XXXX who gouged and harassed me with calls and slowing down data on my phone when bills have been timely paid. The worst was during hurricane Ida no power no water and NO PHONE because XXXX made another error on my Bill. This one had something to do with the password. I have several XXXX and challenges. It has been challenging to speak with someone competent or with patience to correct the many errors of this line. Several times a representative was incredibly difficult to understand, but they were kind regarding my challenges. However, their response was incomprehensible. I have Drs. Therapist and advocates who were quite aware and kept advising me to resolve this. Finally, my Dr. took the time out to switch my phone from XXXX to Consumer Cellular which cost less than half of what XXXX. I do not owe this amount or any other amount. I apologize for the lengthiness, its been awful. It would be more than fair for them to drop this debt.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: My identity was used with XXXX and I have been receiving collection notices from them and now Convergent ( debt collector ) to collect a balance owed on the fraudulent account. The account number with XXXX was XXXX and opened in Illinois. I currently reside in NJ and have done so for the near entirety of my life. The e-mail address they used was XXXX, which is not my e-mail address. I'd like for this to be removed from my credit report so that it doesn't continue to harm my credit score.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from Convergent dated XX/XX/XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, for an outstanding debt for a XXXX account that I never opened. I believe I am a victim of identity theft and have been trying to rectify this issue with XXXX directly. I reached out to XXXX asking for proof of substantiation, in which they forwarded me via phone call to a separate debt collector, XXXX group. I mailed a letter sent by certified mail to XXXX XXXX requesting proof of substantiation, in which I received no reply. When calling XXXX group, the representative said they no longer had this debt in their possession. When calling XXXX asking for information about this account to be emailed or mailed to my actual personal mailing address, the XXXX representative said they could only mail or email documentation to the personal information noted on file, which is not my email address ( XXXX ) or my personal mailing address ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, NY XXXX ). The XXXX representative told me to file a police report with the local authorities if I believe the account was opened via fraudulent terms. When going to the police station XXXX New York XXXX Police Department XXXX XXXX in XXXX, NY ), the police officer stated that I must provide proof of substantiation from XXXX in order to process the police report. As I have absolutely no paper or electronic documentation of this account, I have been unable to submit a police report. The only paper mailing with the account number stated that I have received to my actual mailing address ( where I have lived since XXXX ) has been this notice dated XX/XX/XXXX, which I received in my mailbox on XX/XX/XXXX. In order to file a police report, I need actual notices and letters from XXXX, not Convergent, stating my claim for being a victim of fraud. I have a separate XXXX account ( # XXXX ) which I am enrolled in XXXX and have been paying on time each month since I moved to XXXX, NY in XX/XX/XXXX. I am not sure how the fraudulent account ( # XXXX ) was opened using my name and SSN, and false personal information that is not tied to me in any way ( email, phone number, mailing address ) and would like to request proof of substantiation of the account being opened, proof of information they used to open the account, proof of collection of debt, and any additional information that can be provided so I can file a police report. I am disputing this debt and will not be providing payment for a fraudulent account.

Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Convergent Outsourcing Inc, a debt collection agency, for their unjust and unethical practices in attempting to collect a debt that has not been properly verified and is beyond the statute of limitations. I am deeply concerned about their approach, which appears to violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) and other relevant consumer protection laws. I recently received communication from Convergent Outsourcing Inc. in the form of an invoice and a copy of a phone bill, both of which are being used as evidence to support their claim for debt repayment. However, I find their approach inadequate and problematic for the following reasons : XXXX. Failure to XXXX XXXX : According to the FDCPA, debt collectors are required to provide validation of a debt upon request. I have made an official request for debt verification, and all I received in response was a copy of a phone bill and an invoice to pay. This does not constitute sufficient verification of the debt 's legitimacy and accuracy. XXXX. XXXX XXXX of Limitations : The debt in question is beyond the statute of limitations, which means that the legal timeframe for pursuing collection actions has expired. Despite this, Convergent Outsourcing Ink is attempting to collect the debt, which raises concerns about their adherence to legal guidelines and ethical standards. XXXX. Insufficient Documentation : A mere copy of a phone bill and an invoice does not provide the necessary documentation to prove the validity of the debt. Without detailed information and proper validation, it is impossible for me to assess the accuracy of their claim. XXXX. Furnished the written validation notice within the required time period and otherwise complied with applicable validation requirements ( 15 U.S.C. 1692g I kindly request that the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation thoroughly investigates this matter and takes appropriate action against Convergent Outsourcing Inc. if they are found to be in violation of consumer protection laws. I believe their actions not only undermine my rights as a consumer but also contribute to the erosion of trust in the debt collection industry as a whole. I am attaching copies of all relevant correspondence from Convergent Outsourcing Ink, as well as any communication I have had with them. I appreciate your attention to this matter and your commitment to safeguarding consumer rights. Please feel free to contact me at XXXX or XXXX if you require any further information or clarification regarding this complaint. I look forward to a swift resolution to this issue and the restoration of my rights as a consumer. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I received a bill from XXXX in XX/XX/2023, but it did not provide a breakdown of charges. I called XXXX to request the statement of charges, but I did not receive it. In XXXX, I got my credit report which included a collection. I wrote to the collection agency to dispute this collection, and after 20 days, I received a final bill from XXXX. However, this bill also did not provide a breakdown of charges, so I have no idea what the {$1100.00} amount is for. I want to clarify these charges because I was not under contract with XXXX, and I sold my previous device to a retailer in exchange for credit toward a new phone. My new carrier, XXXX, checked with XXXX and confirmed that I did not owe anything. Please assist me in verifying these charges, as I genuinely do not understand why I owe XXXX.
