Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: Recently after reviewing and obtaining a copy of my credit report I discovered that XXXX XXXX ( the original creditor ), reported an account as " Charged Off '' and sold to Jefferson Capital Systems , LLC, transferring a balance of {$1400.00}. The account initial opening date is XX/XX/XXXX tentatively ( transfer date in XXXX ). Despite several disputes filings date ( s ) XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX verbally and written and recently in XXXX requesting debt validation from Jefferson Capital has failed to report any change. XX/XX/XXXX a certified letter was mailed to XXXX XXXX XXXX, a representative listed and collection agent for Jefferson Capital Systems , LLC. requesting removal of the debt, to date no response has been received. Despite my efforts each investigation from the Credit Reporting Agencies has resulted unfavorable and continues to report as " verified as accurate. '' According to the FCRA Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) ( a consumer contract with my signature on it ) and Section 611 ( 5 ) ( A ) mandates " promptly '' DELETION of all information that can not be verified. '' I have included proof of certified mailings addressed to the Credit Reporting Agencies ( CRA ). ( see attachments ). According to the FCRA, Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) required by federal law verification through the original signed consumer contract for all accounts posted on a credit report. ( see attachment ) To date, debt validation has not been satisfied according to the FCRA statue ( s ) my consumer rights have been violated.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX collected a debt via garnishment from my bank account on XX/XX/20 in the amount of {$1300.00}. This debt was originally for a XXXX energy debt, and the garnishment from my bank account satisfied this debt. However, the collection agency run by Ms. XXXX also had a garnishment placed against my state tax return, which they failed to release after the debt had been satisfied on XX/XX/20. As of the writing of this today on XX/XX/20, the state tax return garnishment has still not been released, therefore {$900.00} owed to me by the state has been held up wrongly because of the inaction of this collector to release the garnishment. I have contacted the office on several occasions, most recently on XX/XX/20 at which time it was verified that the debt was indeed satisfied but that they " somehow failed to '' release the tax garnishment. However, I contacted the state of Michigan treasury today, and they still have not received the garnishment release. I would like action taken against XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX for causing harm to myself and my family by failing to release this garnishment and thus preventing my state tax return from being rightfully sent to me. This has caused my family finacial harm during this very difficult season. We need this money and it should have come 6 months ago. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX should be held to account for this egregious error.

Consumer Complaint: I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report this week and I found multiple inaccuracies on my credit report from the 3 major credit bureaus from a collection company that I never have dealt with before. I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information. I have disputed this item with the credit reporting agency and they reported you confirmed the account as valid. I honestly do not believe to ever have any relationship with this collection agency or original creditor. Also there are several inaccuracies with this account the way it's reporting and that's a total violation of FCRA and FDCPA laws and regulations. In a good faith effort to resolve the matter amicably, I must demand proof of this debt, specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature, as well as proof of your authority in this matter. Absent such proof, you must correct any erroneous reports of this past debt as mine. I am writing to request that you please provide the following information : 1. Please evidence your authorization under 15 USC 1692 ( e ) and 15 USC 1692 ( f ) in this alleged matter. 2. What is your authorization of law for your collection of information? 3. What is your authorization of law for your collection of this alleged debt? 4. Please evidence your authorization to do business or operate in this state. 5. Please evidence proof of the alleged debt, including the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature. 6. Please provide a complete account history, including any charges added for collection activity. You have 30 days upon receipt of this letter to provide strict proof of contract. In the event you can not provide strict proof of contract, you must cease and desist any and all collection efforts and immediately remove any derogatory information reported to the consumer reporting agencies. In addition, you will need to provide me your agreement, in writing, that you are closing your file, ceasing collecting activity, and deleting all information related to this reference number from any and all credit reports youve furnished the information to. In the event you transfer this account to an attorney without providing proof of contract, and proving your claim, he/she will be immediate reported to the XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX for code of ethics violations.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of this year I received a written notification that I owed Jefferson Capital Systems {$3200.00}. Apparently the original " creditor '' was XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX, Minnesota. The date it was opened was apparently XX/XX/19. I have never been to XXXX XXXX nor did I open this account. I have no knowledge of this account, did not authorize this account, and expect this account to have been opened due to identity theft. I disputed the collection with both XXXX and XXXX XXXX, but both companies only verified that the information was accurate. I refuse to pay {$3200.00} because I did not open this account. I am furious that neither XXXX nor XXXX XXXX verified that the charge was fraudulent.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a vehicle that was totaled in an accident. The original lien holder was paid by XXXX and Gap insurance. This left a balance of roughly 2000. I received a letter from Jefferson capital a debt collection agency advising they own the debt and offered a settlement on the account. I received a call from Jefferson capital today and was advised the balance is now over 4k and they offered a settlement of XXXX. They are using deceptive practices in an attempt to collect on the deficiency balance which is not legal
