Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls
Consumer Complaint: They have been calling me multiple times a day and from a different number every time. Sometimes they call from what looks like a local phone number, they don't leave messages and when I return the call to see if it's something I should be responding to, I block my phone number and somehow they know it's me. I have disputed this several times over the past 3 years. This debt is not mine and is incorrect. I have written to all 3 credit bureaus, they just keep sending me letters saying that they're verifying the debt which of course they will verify it on their end when they're trying to collect money from people. The deception lies in the fact that they purposely call from different phone # s that look local or even like an area code that I've recently had communication with. Why do they need to hide behind fake phone numbers unless they're illegally contacting me and others? This is absurd. I'm going to report them to every entity possible including the XXXX and the credit bureaus again.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, I was served what looked like to be legal, country documents for wage garnishment. This XXXX XXXX debt collector must have XXXX a previous judgement vs. me. The County documents have no seal of authenticity or filing dates in my county. They have the name of my employer and myself as defendant and garnishee. Not only do I not make enough money to meet the legal requirements for garnishment, I see no date where it was even filed in court. They are using County documents as a scare tactic.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: Last year a debt collection agency named " XXXX '' attempted to collect a non-existent debt owed to XXXX in excess of {$5000.00}. They had mailed several notices that I had discarded since I know the debt isn't owed and validated this with XXXX themselves. No credit line was ever opened with them. I had requested debt validation and to cease contact. I received a letter from them stating that they will no longer communicate and the account had been closed. Today I receive a letter from a company named " Jefferson Capital '' which I believe is associated with XXXX from some brief research. They are attempting to collect a non-existent debt owed to XXXX for {$7400.00}. Once again, validated with XXXX that this does not exist and is not owed. At this point, an investigation should be made to XXXX XXXX and Jefferson Capital Systems LLC for this behavior. XXXX lied ( Violation 1 ) about the account being closing and instead chose to forward it to JCap. JCap has not printed information on what to do if I believe the debt is not owed on the letter, so that's violation 2. Continuing to contact me about this non-existent debt after request to cease contact is potentially violation 3.
