Consumer Complaint: I saw on my credit report I have an account with XXXX XXXX, that is past due and reported to collection to Jefferson Capital. I don't live in the US. I left the US in XXXX. Since then I have not maintained a residential address in the XXXX. According to the record, the account for cell phone was opened in XXXX. I was not in the US then. Why would I open an US cell phone account, when I was not even living in the country? I haven't paid taxes in the US then, not paid electricity, not had a job in the US then. It could be verified. I didn't know about the account until I looked it up on my credit report. I haven't received any notifications in XXXX or since then. It is for {$1000.00}. I am not even sure for what period that refers, what usage, on what residential address is this service based? I didn't have a US residential address in XXXX, so on what address is it based? I want a full investigation of the charge, I want to dispute it. Who opened it? The past due amount has been reported to two credit bureaus, XXXX and XXXX, and the third one knows about the account too. I tried to contact XXXX, but they say because the account has been transferred to a collector, they don't have more information about it. They can't tell me for what period it is, what is the address of the customer.
