Consumer Complaint: I have been harassed by Jefferson Capital for over a year now. Dozens of times I have disputed with the credit bureaus to no avail. Jefferson Capital does not do any sort of research except send the same story back stating that this " debt is valid '' They are saying that I owe a debt and this debt was sold to them by a company. I have no idea what company or what this debt is, and I do not owe it. I have never seen anything other than dozens of letters from Jefferson Capital demanding payment and then threatening civil action. This has crushed my credit score as well. Recently, I have received over 15 letters from local attorneys in the area asking to represent me since I am apparently being " sued '' in civil court in the county I live in, once again for a debt I have no knowledge of and one I do not owe. Since I was getting nowhere with the credit bureaus, I submitted a complaint to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX sent my complaint to Jefferson Capital, where once again they did not do any sort of research into anything or supply me with any sort of valid paperwork. Instead, they sent a letter stating " our records reflect that the account is currently the subject of a lawsuit Filed on XX/XX/2022, pending in XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX as case number XXXX. As a result, this matter is beyond the purview of the XXXX and we request this complaint be dismissed '' For the 20th time, they didn't do anything but ask for a complaint to be dismissed so it wouldn't go on the XXXX webpage, permitting Jefferson Capital from just continuing to threaten and have actually started legal action against me. Today, I received a letter in the mail asking to contact XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX section to pick up papers I am being served. This has to be one of the most predatory Collections practices I have ever seen. I now have been sued in local court for a debt I do not owe and have been bombarded by lawyers asking to represent me for this upcoming case. I am also being threatened with garnishment of wages. I am a 100 % percent XXXX veteran. I have my XXXX benefits and my XXXX benefits as sources of income and that is it. The amount of stress this has added to my life is astounding. Upon research, this appears to be the norm for Jefferson Capital as they are the recipients of dozens of lawsuits for their " collection practices. The complaints have many things in common and this " company '' is disgraceful. Harassment is just what they do.

I also understand that knowing and willful misstatements or omissions of material facts constitutes a FEDERAL CRIMINAL VIOLATION punishable under 18 USC 1001. I have reported them to the three major credit Bureaus for review several times but never had any luck with that method. Not to mention, if I didn't actively monitor my credit, I would not have even known about them because they NEVER called me, NEVER sent a letter in the mail or anything!! They are liars, who hide essential information & they are destroying all my hard work to repair & rebuild my credit for both my family 's future & my business!! First One, currently dragging my credit down, ( fraudulently ), is from the original creditor : XXXX XXXX XXXX. I opened an account with them on XX/XX/XXXX. This is also on my credit report but as " Closed '' with a {$0.00} balance as of, XXXX XXXX, XXXX. Years later, XX/XX/XXXX, Jefferson Capital System suddenly appears on my credit report. Claiming the account was opened with them on XX/XX/XXXX. They also update it every month, falsely claiming I have failed to make agreed payments with them since XXXX! They NEVER even contacted me, EVER, in any way. Yet they have the most recent update on, XX/XX/XXXX, with a balance of {$2500.00} & these negative remarks, ( alongside the alleged 5 years of failed payments ), " Seriously past due date/ assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor 's internal collection department ''!! I'm furious!! SECOND ONE, same company, JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEMS, same fraudulant dates & NO ATTEMPTS to contact me by phone, mail & XXXX other means. The XXXX creditor : XXXX XXXX, claimed to be opened on XX/XX/XXXX, most recent update on, XX/XX/XXXX, with an alleged balance of {$1400.00}. Same deal with the negative comments stated as, " Seriously past due date/ assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor 's internal collection department '' but with 3 years of non payment. ALSO, IT APPEARDED RANDOMLY ON MY CREDIT REPORT THE EXACT SAME DAY AS THE PREVIOUSLY MENTCHIONED ONE!!! ( XX/XX/XXXX ) This account is even more baffling to me as I have no account from XXXX XXXX, I was on someone else 's plan YEARS ago, but XXXX never even tried to attach the account to my credit & as far as I know, it was paid in full due to a promotion to switch carriers from XXXX to XXXX back in XXXX I believe? ( Not 100 % on that date, as it wasn't in my name & I don't have anything to officially look back on to find the exact date. Regardless, in both cases, Jefferson Capital Systems never tried to reach out to me, therefore, I never made any agreements to pay them anything, the dates & payment histories, etc. are all wrong. I owe them NOTHING. Just as I owe XXXX XXXX & the account, I had with XXXX is over XXXX XXXX XXXX & had been closed for years before Jefferson Capital Systems appeared on my report, ( oddly both, XX/XX/XXXX ... after my information got leaked from two different companies. )
