Consumer Complaint: long long long process : 17 was STOLEN from my card. it was FRAUD. while Citibank examined this fraud, they told me NOT to pay the card. I did not. THEY INSTEAD PENALIZED ME FOR LATE FEES and REFUSED TO TELL ME THE BALANCE on what I purchased. THey reportred me to all XXXX credit bureaus. I AM PAYING NOW : 1. my balance LESS the late fee because they told me to NOT pay the card while it was being investibated for FRAUD for XXXX THey need to : REMOVE my name from XXXX, XXXX XXXX and the other crediit organization because they made my credit go from XXXX to XXXX I called htem, wrote to them, wrote to their exec team, complained to XXXX XXXX involved my lawyer XXXX XXXX XXXX These people are absolutely disorganized. happy to provide all XXXX plus correspondence. THey need to CLOSE MY CARD wh ich I have asked over and over and over and over again. are they just plain STUPID

Consumer Complaint: I initiated a transfer of my student loan refund into my XXXX XXXX account at approximately XXXX XXXX Subsequently, I enhanced the security settings of my Citibank online checking account, with the intention of bolstering its protection, and transferred the said refund from XXXX XXXX to Citibank. Approximately two hours post-transfer, at around XXXX XXXX, I attempted to execute a payment of {$77.00} to XXXX, the XXXX XXXX, through my Citibank account using my Citibank debit card ending in XXXX This attempt, and subsequent attempts, were declined without explanation. Upon trying to access my Citibank account via the mobile app, I discovered that access was denied. Efforts to transfer the funds back to XXXX XXXX were also declined. Further attempts to access my Citibank account were met with a message indicating that the account was blocked. Contact with Citibank customer service for resolution was unproductive ; representatives were unable to verify my identity with the information I provided, which had never been an issue in the past. Each interaction with customer service ended abruptly as representatives disconnected the call without offering any resolution or explanation. As of this report, I remain unable to access my account. The lack of access to my funds, coupled with the dismissive and unhelpful attitude of the customer service representatives, has left me in a precarious financial situation. The inability to access my own funds, the absence of a clear explanation, and the apparent disregard for resolving the issue lead me to believe that this situation constitutes fraud or theft by the bank. I firmly believe that the actions, or lack thereof, by Citibank have resulted in the unauthorized withholding of my funds, constituting a breach of trust and potential fraud/theft. The refusal to grant access to my account or return my funds, despite multiple attempts at resolution, supports this claim.

I'm deeply concerned about the safety of my funds.

This complaint is not to remedy any violations but to make an Official, permanent complaint to mark a series of FDCPA violations that are pursuant to " deceptive business practices '' and mark a general disposition and or practice by the company XXXX XXXX XXXX which is a debt collector defined by the FDCPA and the TCPA. 1 ). In the year of XXXX a Credit Card Account was initiated with CITIBANK d/b/a CITICARDS. 2 ). The Account was in dispute by phone and notarized affidavit after the complainant noticed a myriad of discrepancies on his account statement. 3 ) .CITIBANK d/b/a CITICARDS ignored all claims made by the complainant violating billing error resolution laws. 4 ). The only response from CITIBANK d/b/a CITICARDS was a letter stating that it wouldn't contact the complainant about the alleged debt any longer. 5 ). The dispute remains unresolved. 6 ). CITIBANK d/b/a CITICARDS sold/assigned the open disputed account to XXXX & XXXX XXXX without the complainants permission or consulting with the complainant about the account. 7 ). CITIBANK d/b/a CITICARDS disseminated the complainants personal identifying information during an open, unresolved billing error dispute without the permission or consent of the complainant. 8. ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has been made aware multiple times that this account was in dispute, and that it has acquired my PII by identity theft and also that it was in violation the FDCPA by attempting to collect this alleged debt. 9. ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has submitted and filed false and misleading affidavits in a Court of Law. XXXX. ) The complainant has made XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX aware of its " unclean hands '' because of the fact that line 9 of the affidavit that was submitted in a TN General Session court to initiate legal action was false and misleading but continues to pursue action, though it knows its actions are unfair and deceptive violating the FDCPA-TCPA including but not limited to : CFR 12 1006.34 ( c ) ( 3 ) ( i ) in particular part : " the debt collector must cease collection of the debt, or the disputed portion of the debt, until the debt collector sends the consumer either verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment ''. Note : ( A billing statement alone is not sufficient validation of a debt, nor does it reflect any actions in pursuant to the resolution of a billing error or dispute from them or the original creditor. 11 ). XXXX & XXXX have no proof of assignment. 12 ). The Account in question has been charged off as of XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX. 13 ). In the State of Tennessee pursuant to a TN Bankruptcy Court ruling : In re XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) Summary ; concluded that the creditor or ( third party debt collector ) can not collect on a debt that has been charged of due to its inequitable nature, by having the debtor claim the 1099-C as income and still have to pay the alleged debt back. 14 ). These action from XXXX XXXX XXXX are meritless, in gross violation of the FDCPA TCPA and is in defamation of my character and the complainant has suffered actual harm because of these actions by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. 15. The complainant will reiterate previous statements that XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has a habit of violating Federal and State Debt Collection Laws, and are hallmarks of a continuing illicit enterprise of profit by way of those violations. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has made it a generalized practice to violate the FDCPA and disregard State law, and now have well over a hundred complaints via the CFPB and the XXXX that are increasing every month. 15 ). XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX has a generalized practice of violating the FDCPA until a recourse of legal action is brought against them in District Courts throughout the United States were they mostly settle with the Plaintiff who took the action against them. 16 ). Consumer Complaint: I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction and concern regarding the decision made by Citibank to deny my recent application for a credit card. The denial was based on the presence of a collection account on my credit report, which I must stress is not a reflection of my financial behavior or creditworthiness. This account is, in fact, the result of identity theft an issue that has plagued me and against which I have been diligently fighting to protect my financial integrity. It is disheartening to see that despite my efforts to rectify this situation, including the filing of disputes with credit reporting agencies and the provision of substantial documentation to prove my case, my application was still denied. I want to emphasize that the collection account in question does not belong to me. I have been a victim of identity theft, and the fraudulent activities conducted under my name should not be used as a basis to evaluate my creditworthiness. Furthermore, it is important to address the matter of the security ( application ) that I tendered to Citibank. It is my understanding that such securities are commonly traded by financial institutions and can be leveraged to generate profit. Despite the erroneous collection account, the value I offered through my application remains a viable asset that Citibank can capitalize on. Therefore, it is perplexing and unfair that my application was rejected on grounds that are not only incorrect but also overlook the potential financial benefit to Citibank. Enclosed with this letter, you will find a detailed report that outlines my situation, including evidence of my identity theft case and the steps I have taken to dispute the wrongful collection account. I kindly request that my application be re-evaluated in light of this new information, and that greater consideration be given to the fact that the negative mark on my credit report is the result of criminal activity, not financial irresponsibility on my part.
