Issue: Struggling to pay your bill
Subissue: Credit card company won't work with you while you're going through financial hardship
Consumer Complaint: I am once again submitting this on MY OWN BEHALF. This is XXXX XXXX. I will attach proof of identity in the space below. CFPB IGNORED my last complaint, numbered XXXX. I am not sure if they are working with the Capital One or not but in the interest of saving us all time, i will copy paste and hopefully your job will be done this time in at least pasing the message along. mailed Capital One directly and asked for forgiveness due to hardship due to the COVID-19 virus. They responded and told me that they could not do that. I thank them for responding to me, but i also know they are lying. Not only has other companies been able to work with me through this, but I know people that Capital One in particualr has worked with during these issues. I do not know why they wont show me mercy. In XXXX of 2021, I tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and it almost killed me. I have pre-existing conditions that made having this virus almost impossible for me to do ANYTHING, much less leave the house. I was out of work for almost XXXX weeks. I fell behind on a few bills. I got help where I could but I did not know my options. I recovered fully, thank XXXX, but not without some damage. I caught up and paid Capital One as quickly as I could and I have NEVER been late again, nor will I be. I understand you guys have processes that you follow, but compassion can never be overstated. Just this XXXX late payment due to COVID-19 is all i am asking. I do not want any late fees back or anything like that, just this XXXX negative remark on my credit report and i know they can help me and i do not understand why they STILL want me to suffer even though i have paid them, never been late ANY OTHER MONTH since that XXXX. It is just arbitrarily unfair.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Consumer Complaint: I bought a new vehicle XX/XX/XXXX. I had already paid for my vehicle the old loan that I have with Capital One Auto finance on XX/XX/XXXX. The new company that I bought it with dealt with Capital One in order to pay off the finance loan. Today is XXXX the XXXX XXXX. I was needing a letter from Capital One Auto loan stating that my loan was paid off. They are saying that I owe them {$530.00}. Never before had they had I heard this. I went to the new Auto dealership to talk to finance, she gave me a copy of the car title from Capital One Auto finance. She told me they paid off the amount. And if they hadn't paid it off Capital One auto financing would never have given them the title. I keep trying to get capital One Auto finance to drop off the {$530.00} and they keep saying that they had taken the money out of my bank account in XX/XX/XXXX. But it was reversed back in 7 days. I assumed it was them giving me my money back since the new car dealership have paid them off. Capital One Auto finance is saying they didn't do it that I had have done the reversal. well I didn't do it. Yet Capital One fix the problem of taking off the balance. I have worked hard on my credit score. They're the ones that did the blunder I had that car paid off with my new dealership. why should I have to pay more?

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: In late XXXX someone fraudulently opened a checking account in my name at Capital One Bank. I contacted them immediately to let them know it was fraud and they assured me it was closed. A couple of weeks later, I received a debit card on the account. I cut it up, called them again and once again was assured the account was closed. Now today ( XXXX ), I received a bank statement on the account. I contacted them again and had to leave a voice mail with what I think is the same department I have spoken to twice before. I am not sure what I have to do to get this account closed and off of their records so I decided to file this complaint to see if you can help?

Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card
Consumer Complaint: I have a master and visa card account with Capital one. I was having some difficulties in 2022. An attorney mistakenly added my accounts to a emergency bankruptcy stay. The bankruptcy would later be dismissed. This mistake led to both my accounts being closed. The accounts weren't closed due to delinquencies. Now one the companies sale pitch is you will never lose your rewards. The company hasn't forwarded my reward balances to me. A XXXX card that was subject to the attorney 's mistake forwarded my rewards balance to me without my request. I'm not sure of my balances at the time as I didn't expect my accounts to be closed. These closures happened around XX/XX/2022. The entity refuses to forward my balances stating some other non communicated rule.
