Consumer Complaint: n accordance with the fair credit report act, the list of accounts below has violated my federally proted consumer rights to privacy and confidential under 15 usc 1681. Capital One Auto Fin account : XXXX 15 usc 1681 section A. States have rights to privacy. 15 usc 1681 section 604 A section 2 : it also states a consumer reporting agency can not furnish without my written instructions. 15 usc 1681c. ( a ) ( 5 ) section states : no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items of information any other adverse item of information, other than records of convictions of crimes Which antedates the report by more than seven years. 15 usc 1681s-2 ( A ) ( 1 ) A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate.

Consumer Complaint: I had my identity stolen and someone opened six fraudulent capital one accounts with my information. I have already submitted a police report and CFPB complaint about Capital One and five out of the six accounts have been removed from my credit score. One credit card account is still being linked to my information as capital one is still saying it belongs to me, and they are reporting a past due charged off account to my credit to XXXX alone. I have tried for months to remedy and Capital One has been extremely unhelpful and their fraud examiners do not call me back or update me on the dispute as they just close it. They have been awful to work with and nobody wants to/can help.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I voluntary closed my Capital One credit card accounts by contacting customer service at the XXXX number and speaking to an agent. The agent cancelled my credit card accounts during that phone call. However, at no time during that recorded call was I told that I needed to separately contact XXXX XXXX ( a division of Capital One ) and request that my XXXX XXXX monitoring program should be cancelled. On XX/XX/2023, I received an email stating that Capital One was monitoring my credit score and it had not changed. The email had the Capital One logo all over it and also the name XXXX XXXX. A simple XXXX search reveals that XXXX XXXX is an agent/affiliate of Capital One companies On XX/XX/2023, immediately after receiving the email, I contacted Capital One and advised the agent that my accounts were previously closed and that Capital One no longer had my authority to continually monitor my credit score. That program, since it is affiliated with Capital One, should have been cancelled when I cancelled my credit cards. After an approx. XXXX minute phone call, and after speaking with 3 different agents, Capital One advised me that 1 ) XXXX XXXX is a separate request that must be cancelled separately apart from cancelling CC accounts ( despite the fact that I was never told this on the initial call nor did I ever receive any written notification of same ; 2 ) the 3rd representative told me she was cancelling my XXXX XXXX account however she could not provide me with any written confirmation/email or letter nor could she provide me with any confirmation number because her " system wouldn't allow it '' and that was just Capital One 's " procedures. '' After I requested again for such confirmation and after she placed me on hold numerous times, she finally gave me her name : XXXX and her ID # is XXXX. I believe Capital One 's actions are unethical, and their practices and procedures are extremely unhelpful and leave customers with open accounts without their knowledge.

My wife and I sent written, notarized closure requests dated XXXX XX/XX/2023 via XXXX XXXX Mail to Capital One at XXXX Capital One XXXX, XXXX, VA XXXX and Capital One, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX, MN XXXX ( forwarded to XXXX XXXX, NV ). XXXX tracking reports these requests were received by Capital One on XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX, respectively. We mailed these requests to the addresses given on Capital One 's website ( https : //www.capitalone.com/help-center/contact-us/bank-account-support/, https : //www.capitalone.com/about/corporate-information/corporate-offices/ ) and as given on our bank statements. We received no acknowledgement/response from Capital One to either the given email or mailing address as on file with our account ( s ), though we continue to receive emailed, automated statement notices and a great deal of phishing email impersonating Capital One. We sent follow-up requests via XXXX XXXX mail dated XXXX XX/XX/2023 to Capital One Bank/Financial Corp. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NV XXXX XXXX received XXXX XXXX ) and to XXXX Capital One XXXX XXXX, VA XXXX XXXX received XXXX XXXX ). To date, we have received no acknowledgement/response, queries, outreach or guidance from Capital One with regard to our closure request to either the email or home/mailing address provided and as on file with our account ( s ). For this reason, and because we continue to receive only automated account notices from Capital One, we suspect our closure request has not been processed. We feel we have given Capital One a more than reasonable amount of time to process our closure request and to remit written confirmation that our checking and savings accounts have been closed. Because Capital One has failed to communicate anything whatsoever to us in regards to this closure request, we are reaching out to the CFPB for help.

Consumer Complaint: My wife and I were pre-qualified for a car loan with Capital One. We took the letter to the dealership as told. The dealership ran our credit with other finance companies without us signing approval for that. I ask the dealership why they didn't use the Capital One and he replied that Capital One did not approve us. I found out Capital One did approve us, but we needed to get more for our trade in then what the dealership were offering. I requested for the inquires to be removed from the finance companies since they have no signatures. Still on our credit report. Also, Capital One and XXXX running ads, get pre-qualify with no impact to your credit and they also have hard inquires on my report. Consumer Complaint: An authorized user was removed from my account accidentally. I wanted them added back to my account but the consumer stated that the system does not allow them to. I was told that there was a policy stating I could not add them was read in the terms in conditions when adding an account user but that is incorrect. It just states what the account user can or can not do. The particular rep who told me this and was rude was named XXXX employee ID # XXXX. The employee hung up on me when I asked for someone to explain things to me in a better way because I dont see the policy. I even looked in the credit card agreement and it is not there. On the site it gives you ways to add and benefits but not what happens if someone is removed from the account. Another rep did attempt to help and he was confused by the system and could also not find anything in the policy. I would like this user added back to the account. It is affecting a lot of things.

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern, I bought an 11 month CD from Capital One Bank at an advertised interest rate of 5 %. I transferred XXXX dollars from an insurance policy and expected to receive 5 % over XXXX monthly disbursements. The amount at 5 % resulted in XXXX divided by the XXXX month term and yielded a monthly amount of or around {$1100.00}. At no point was it disclosed that the XXXX month CD was going to yield less than the 5 % advertised. The date of the initial disbursement and the maturity date appear to reflect a XXXX month CD and not XXXX as It was advertised online and verified at the branch when we proceeded to make the {$250000.00} deposit and engaged in business with Capital One Bank. It took more than a month for the the initial transfer to go into the new XXXX month CD account. This was very concerning as this is a very large amount of money. My initial meeting took place at the XXXX XXXX Capital One XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, MA XXXX on XXXX XXXX XXXX The actual transfer into the XXXX month CD did not take place until XX/XX/XXXX according to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX However Capital One CD Account shows a deposit on XX/XX/XXXX for the XXXX transferred into the XXXX month CD account, the discrepancy on the debit from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXk XXXX ) on XX/XX/XXXX and a statement from Capitol One showing the deposit on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX also raised a red flag. I proceeded on XX/XX/XXXX to attach my XXXX Account to receive the monthly disbursements of the expected {$1100.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX the initial interest disbursement transferred into my XXXX account was in the amount off around {$100.00} dollars less than expected at {$1000.00}. I called, visited and complained directly to both the branch and the costumer service line where nobody was able to give me a straight answer on why there was a discrepancy. I was sold an XXXX month maturity CD at 5 % and instead I am getting 4.1 % because their bait and switch language and what I believe is false advertisement and misrepresentation of a product. The XXXX month CD term is not being advertised any longer nor I believe is it available as a product of Capital One Bank. I need help to resolve the fact that I did not and am not receiving the 5 % interest rate that was advertised, offered and sold to me by Capitol One. I went to the branch on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX where I spoke with three representatives who were not able to give me a straight answer on the CD product, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. They connected me to their live support via telephone while at their branch. Their representative on the phone was not able to tell me why there was a discrepancy between the expected interest and the received interest. They told me that they needed an accountant to do the math as they could not do the math for me, the client. I then proceeded to ask for them to escalate to a formal complaint and that I needed to speak to someone that could explain why I am getting 4.1 % interest on my 11 month CD and not the 5 % that was advertised, offered and sold to me. I was told that I would receive a call in the next 3 to to 5 business days. Case # XXXX. I have yet to receive a call, an e-mail or a follow up. I am asking you to please help me resolve this issue as I am on a fixed income and trying to supplement it. You can understand how a {$1200.00} dollar discrepancy over XXXX months is not acceptable on a fixed income. Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Consumer Complaint: Capital One sent me a credit card that I had never asked for ( presumably because the sports store XXXX switched its credit card, of which I had one, from XXXX XXXX to Capital One, approximately last year ). I never activated the credit card and posted a letter to Capital One by USPS on XXXX XXXX XXXX, requesting that they cancel this credit card with immediate effect. On XX/XX/, I received a credit card statement ( the first one ever ) from Capital One ( Payment Due Date XXXX XXXX XXXX Balance {$0.00} ), at an address of mine that I had never given Capital One. In other words, Capital One completely ignored my request to cancel my credit card and instead seems to now hold an active account for me. I never opened an account with Capital One, I never activated the credit card that Capital One sent me ( ending in XXXX ), and I do not wish to have a credit card or account with Capital One ( and told Capital One so, in writing ). Please stop Capital One from making credit card and account decisions for me that are diametrically opposite to my written request, namely to cancel this credit card with immediate effect.
