Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Sent card you never applied for
Consumer Complaint: I have had a Kohl 's store card for years, and Kohl 's recently decided to change this to a Rewards Visa through XXXX XXXX automatically. There is a fundamental difference between a store credit card and a XXXX card that can be used anywhere, and I did not accept the risk associated with a XXXX card when applying for this store card. I spoke to two people at Kohl 's Credit and two at XXXX XXXX and none of them could tell me why or how I was selected for this change, only that my store card was no more. However, XXXX XXXX was keen to tell me that this was an " upgrade, '' and I could now use the card anywhere. Additionally, there is no indication on Kohl 's credit website that there was a transfer or that there would be a new way to log in. This prompted me to have issues logging in, as my account was no longer in the old system. Again rather than advise about this when attempting to get in, it kept locking the account, so I called in only to be advised of the change and redirected.
