Consumer Complaint: I've had a number of difficulties with Capital One rejecting charges that I pre-approved so on XXXX XXXX XXXX I called to cancel my card. I had previously applied all remaining rewards to my balance and paid off the balance in full, which is my normal monthly habit. After going through the validation procedures with their agent, the agent informed me that once I closed the account, I would be barred from reopening it. I found this odd, but I had no plans to reopen the account and said that is fine with me. The agent then said I had {$1.00} remaining in cash rewards. I said that was odd because I had redeemed all of my awards prior to making my payment. I first said that they could keep it, but the agent said they would mail me a check ( to the address on my account ) and I said that would be fine. However, the agent then said that she needed to do some additional verification steps in order to send me the check. The verification step involved sending me a code over the phone that I would have to repeat to her. I said, I'm on the phone with her and have no other phone to do that. I asked if she could send it by email and she said no. I asked if I could hang up so then could send the code and she could call me back and she said that wasn't possible. She then said I could send them a copy of my drivers license and some other forms of identification. After much frustrating discussion, I asked to speak with the supervisor on duty and was transferred. I explained the issue and asked ... ... ... .if you were satisfied with my verification to close the account, I don't understand the need to do an additional verification in order to mail a check for the rewards balance. She did admit that it didn't make sense to her either, but that is the company policy. The conversation ended with my advising/stating that I would be filing a complaint with the CFPB. Now, all of these credit card companies will gladly open an account online with instant approval. There are no hoops to jump through. Their policy of additional verification is a deceptive trade practice ... or a practice to attempt to coerce someone to keeping the account open.

I have been a satisfied and responsible Capital One customer for the past 7-8 months, and I appreciate the services your company provides. I am writing to request a credit limit increase on my Capital One Quicksilver credit card account. Consumer Complaint: I made a {$700.00} payment to my account on XX/XX/XXXX via XXXX. I received a notification on XX/XX/XXXX that the payment had posted to my account. I tried to make an {$16.00} purchase and was denied so I contacted Capital One. I was told that even though my payment had posted on the 8th my funds were being withheld until XX/XX/2023 which is bizarre because I have never had returned payment to Capital One. The FIRST gentleman I spoke to agreed to call my bank and verify that the payment cleared to release the funds. XXXX was closed at XXXX PST so he was unable to complete the verification. I called back at XXXX on Saturday and spoke to XXXX who told me completely different information that no such verification process exists and that my payment was on hold because I had several declined purchases. Well XXXX they were declined my money was on hold. Irate I asked to speak to a manager, XXXX gets on the phone and she has a COMPLETELY different answer to the last 2 gentleman. She said she has no idea why the payment was put on hold. Capital One does this to make sure that their funds clear. Its " 2023 this was an XXXX transaction not a paper check. The funds not only cleared the next day Capital One sent me a notification that the payment posted to my account. I am lived because Capital One has improperly held my payment after they have already received the money. There was no notification WRITTEN or VIA TEXT that my funds would be unavailable I had to call in to find out. What if it was an emergency?

Consumer Complaint: I recently pulled my credit report and saw an unauthorized inquiry on my report. These unauthorized inquiries are in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act 15 U.S.C 1681. 15 U.S.C 1681b states A person shall not use or obtain a consumer report for any purpose unless 1. ) the consumer report is obtained for a purpose for which the consumer report is authorized to be furnished under this section ; and 2. ) The purpose is certified in accordance with section 1681e of this title by a prospective user of the report through a general or specific certification. 15 U.S.C. 1681b ( f ). I have never authorized any transactions with the following company ( CAPITAL ONE AUTO FINANCE ) As well as I do not have an account as defined under 15 U.S.C 1693 ( a ) 2 with ( CAPITAL ONE AUTO FINANCE ) of any sort. In regards to The company ( CAPITAL ONE AUTO FINANCE ) has misused the private/personal information associated with my personal consumer report by using my information for personal financial gain for the betterment of their company. They ignored my communications & refused to cease and desist obtaining my personal/private information from any credit reporting agency. The company refused to remedy the matter professionally without any trusted third parties having to intervene into the matter. In addition to the rampant fraud & identity theft the company ( CAPITAL ONE AUTO FINANCE ) keeps taking part in they refused to pay me the consumer/beneficiary the entitled payment that was compensation for the violation ( s ) that kept recurring. I also gave them written notice that if such attempts kept being made against me the consumer/beneficiary that there would be legal actions taken. And it should be taken very seriously as this matter is represented in a trust matter.

Never would issue a card but collected on dsuch card. Paid XXXX credit limit was never applied. Never issued my replacement card. Other one reported lost XXXX years. They broke laws.

The amount of the 4 unauthorized transactions are {$100.00} made a XXXX, than {$60.00} at XXXX, next {$90.00} and last {$62.00} at different XXXX gas stations. The transactions occurred in that order. I received notification of the first transaction at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. All transactions were made within a hour. I received instant notification via text of the transactions and called the same night to report fraudulent activity. The Capital One applied credit to my card on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX the company reapplied the fraudulent charges and is expecting repayment. Per company policy, there is {$0.00} liability for unauthorized charges.

Consumer Complaint: Although I usually pay my balance in full every month, My Capital One Venture Credit card was not paid in full on XX/XX/2023. The next month I was charged an interest fee for the balance owed ( as expected ). My XXXX payment was paid in fullthis included new charges as well as the previous owed amount. In XXXX, my bill include an interest fee of {$8.00}. When I called Capital One, I was told that it was there standard of charging interest on an unpaid balance ( even though that balance had been paid in full ) for two consecutive months after the amount was paid. I told them that was robbery and refused to pay it. The agent told me as a one time courtesy, she would remove the XXXX charge. However, since it was a 2 month fee, my next bill would include an interest charge. Now if I were still carrying a balance, I would expect to incur additional fees. However, when a balance is paid in full, there should be no fee attached to that balance. This should be against the law! They have arbitrarily decided to charge an interest fee on a paid balance. This is stealing expecting the consumer wont notice or complain. Well, Im complaining! This practice has to stop!

THE LENDER XXXX XXXX HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY DOCUMENTATION OF THE FINAL RESOLUTION OF THE LOAN, CHARGE-OFF, PAYOFF STATEMENT, DEFICIENCY JUDGMENT OR THE LIKE WHICH IS IN VIOLATION OF MY FCRA RIGHTS.
