Consumer Complaint: I was recently married and submitted a request to Capital One to update my last name from XXXX to XXXX with my marriage certificate. Capital one erroneously updated my entire name to XXXX XXXX. I opened a prior case XXXX, as I was getting no where with Capital one and getting this rectified. They finally fixed the issue and corrected the name on my account and reissued all cards. Fast forward to XX/XX/2023 I am not getting credit alerts that there is an associated name with my SSN and credit file, which is XXXX XXXX. I am also receiving pre approved credit card offers mailed to me in this name not only from Capital one but from other financial institutions as well which is beyond alarming. A simple name change has caused so many issues and is alarming that a bank completely changed my name to a person who I have no idea who this is. This is my identity, my credit. This name needs to be disassociated with me and my credit/SSN and capital one needs to be held liable for their error and all the time I have spent and continue to spend trying to get this rectified.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I opened an account with Capital One bank over the phone, since they do not have office in XXXX. I made a call and they told me that without being a US resident I could open the account and asked me for my Passport and my Social Security. I told him I was from XXXX and he said there was no problem. The account was opened and without problems began to operate through XXXX. in XX/XX/XXXX, I tried to make a XXXX and it was not possible ; He called to see what happened and at that moment I They said the account was blocked because I couldn't have an account with them if it wasn't resident or citizen US documents, my response was that my XXXX passport was accepted without any problem when opening the account, and that if there was any error it was not my fault, but that of the person who opened the account for me and entered my XXXX social number ( of which I provided a photo and which very clearly it says Social Insurance Number and a XXXX flag. there was no reason to get confused and think it was an American social number. Since XX/XX/XXXX, I have made countless calls to the bank and their response is always that the account is under review by the bank 's security department, I have requested in each call close the account to no longer have my money withheld but their response has been the same " WE SHOULD WAIT FOR THE INVESTIGATION TO BE COMPLETED. '' At that time I did not know what investigation were they talking about since the reason why the account was blocked was for not having a American but XXXX social number These calls are made approximately every month without having any other response. that they have given me from the beginning. In XX/XX/XXXX, I received a statement from the bank, unfortunately it had been misplaced in other documents and I only found it now in XXXX and opened it, and I realize that there is a withdrawal on the XXXX XXXX for the total value of the account balance, leaving ZEROS. I called again and this time they put me through to a person from the security department who answered in English and through a translator, told me that my account was closed because the security department found fraud and the money was returned in a check. I said no had received the check and his response was that I was not the real owner of that money and that this had been returned to its owner. I asked him for more explanations but he didn't want to give them to me and that the bank also had no obligation to Give me more explanations neither by phone nor in writing.

I called numerous times to have payments reallocated to revolving balances instead of be allocated toward special purchases that were not due in full until a future billing cycle. As a result, I was continually incurring unnecessary interest charges. There were times when the interest saver payment was incorrect. I called Capital One to explain this and they could not explain to me how it was calculated. I was charged interest even though I was making payments in full.
