Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: Good afternoon. This complaint is regarding a XXXX Visa from Comenity Bank. My statement balance for XX/XX/2021 was {$1900.00}. I paid off the whole statement balance ON TIME and was charged an interest fee of {$69.00} which is now reflected on my XX/XX/2021 statement. They have also charged me foregin transaction fees amounting to {$6.00} even if these were local USA transactions. I have called them twice today. The first time talking to an agent named XXXX who disconnected my call and just put me back on the phone queue without even telling me. The next person also was not able to help only telling me standard spiels. They have apparently been charging hidden fees like foreign transaction fees even if the merchants are local as I look back on my past statements. This is such a scrupulous company and would never use this card again.

Consumer Complaint: I have had so many issues with this company, from reporting late payments that were not true to now reporting the incorrect balance and it is keeping g me from a better credit score and also keeping me from applying for new credit. I need for the balance to be corrected and also the late payments to be removed since we were in a pandemic and I tried to make payments but the company is so unprofessional I was unable to pay on time due to unprofessional workers working from home

Consumer Complaint: I have been a victim of identity theft / fraud. Someone has used my name, my addresses, my Social Security number, my date of birth and my employers name to open accounts in my name. They have had access to my XXXX XXXX account as well I have discovered, and I think that this is partly how they accessed my information as well as through my Health Insurance coverage claims. I have disputed and disputed these 3 accounts with both XXXX and the companies directly over and over and they still have not removed them from my XXXX credit report. 1. Comenity / XXXX XXXX XXXX. Comenity / XXXX 3. XXXX XXXX XXXX THESE ARE NOT MY ACCOUNTS I have been told by Comenity for both of those accounts to contact XXXX XXXX because they now own both of those accounts, I did so, and XXXX XXXX found me not responsible for these accounts and sent me letters stating this, which I have attached here. Yet, Comenity continues to report these to XXXX. I have sent all of this documentation to XXXX and to Comenity multiple times.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: I stopped the application before it processed but a Victoria 's Secret employee tried to convince me to apply for their " rewards card '' and lied repeatedly to me, insisting it was not a credit card ( and when I asked " so it's not a credit card '' she told me no, not at all ). When the system asked for my SSN and the top said " Victoria 's Secret Credit Card '', I told her " But this says it's a credit card '' and she replied " Oh it just says that but it's not '' then her co-worker stepped in to say it actually is a credit card. Had I not been vigilant, only spoke broken English, was naive, or uneducated, I could have been deceived into applying, only to have my credit hurt by the new account and a new inquiry. I'm also getting ready to apply for a house and something like this could have stopped my application from getting approved. I feel if I were disadvantaged, this would have been very unfair, and at best it was a very deceptive act. I'm concerned about those who have actually fallen for this illegal tactic.

Consumer Complaint: I mailed a check for {$1700.00} to Comenity Mastercard on XX/XX/2021 to pay off a balance. On XX/XX/2021, I noticed that the check had not cleared. Fearing it had gotten lost in the mail, due to the amount, I placed a stop payment on the check and paid the card balance of {$1700.00} online. At this point the card is at a XXXX balance & I think I am done with Comenity Mastercard. On XX/XX/XXXX, Comenity Mastercard attempted to apply the {$1700.00} check to the account & charged me a {$29.00} fee returned check fee on an account that was at a zero balance. I called the customer service line, explained that the card was already paid in full when they tried to apply the check amount, that I had already paid a {$29.00} stop payment fee to my bank and that it is not fair to charge me a fee for a card with a zero balance. After speaking with 3 people, two claiming to be supervisors, the consensus at Comenity is that I should have let the check I presumed was lost in the mail be paid to whomever and then request Comenity to send me a refund for any over payment. I was also told that Comenity Mastercard must pass on charge back fees from their bank to customer ( because I am sure their profit margin can not absorb a {$29.00} fee ) even though my account was at a XXXX balance and I have no choice but to pay them an additional {$29.00}.
