Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: This complaint is in reference to Comenity Capital Bank located in XXXX, Ohio. It is the bank adminstering the credit card of XXXX XXXX. In the fall I made a purchase and was offered a discount based upon acceptance of their credit card. I agreed to get the card. The total purchase was {$56.00}. The next billing statement I got assessed a {$34.00} interest charge because I was a couple of days late making the payment. This amounted to interest in excess of XXXX XXXX of the original charge. I called to protest the interest. The next month I received a bill for {$70.00} which they claimed was XXXX interest charges ( XXXX times {$34.00} is {$68.00} ). I called to cancel the card. I told them I objected to the excessive interest. They started making harrassing calls to my cell phone sometimes several times in one day. They told me that I owed them the {$70.00} for the XXXX months and that they would continue to add interest charges to their billing every month. I sent them a check for {$70.00} which they cashed on XX/XX/ 2023. In the interim they sent a complaint to all the credit rating agencies. To my knowledge this has not been corrected. My complaint is regarding the outrageous interest they are charging, filing a complaint about me with the credit agencies, their failure to correct their complaint and their heavy handed approach to collections.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I made a purchase at the XXXX store on XX/XX/2022. I never received a statement. I did receive an email XX/XX/XXXX saying a payment was due soon. I paid through my XXXX XXXX online bill pay, check # XXXX. I called on XX/XX/XXXX because they had not yet received the check. They asked for a phone payment which I declined as their call center is in the XXXX and we had just had fraudulent charges on our XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX bill. I was unwilling to give them access to our checking account. They waived late fees and interest charges. XXXX XXXX issued check # XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX which should have arrived before XXXX XXXX it is XXXX weeks later and they have still not credited the payment to my account. They continue to add late fees and finance charges and even a returned check fee when I told them I was stopping payment to XXXX because I assumed it had been lost. I might have believed them the first time when this happened in XXXX of 2022, but now I suspect fraudulent practices to gain late fees and interest. As soon as this matter is resolved, I will shred this credit card.

Consumer Complaint: A line of credit was set up without my authorization by XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX with : Comenity Capital Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX OH XXXX Im writing to dispute the entire accounts existence. When I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX about a medically necessary procedure on XX/XX/2022, I was told I could get a line of credit to pay for all of the procedures I needed. I was told my insurance would not cover {$5000.00} of the charges. At that time, XXXX XXXX requested my social security number to conduct a soft credit check to see if I qualified. She told me I did and that I would get documents to set up the line of credit. She also stated I would be billed for everything after the procedures were completed. My first procedure was scheduled for XX/XX/2022. I never received any creditor paperwork or contact, credit card, nor did I complete any application or sign off on a line of credit. I didnt even intend to use a line of credit if I was able to pay for everything with my XXXX XXXX I received a letter in the mail from Comenity that I assumed were the credit application documents. When I opened it on XX/XX/XXXX, I was shocked to see that it was a bill due XX/XX/XXXX. It showed a charge of {$5000.00} that was billed before I even went for my first scheduled procedure on XX/XX/2022. I attempted to pay this bill on XX/XX/2022 using my XXXX debit card as I didnt want any late fees or anything to negatively impact my credit score. That was a Sunday and I intended to call and question the company about this account that following Monday. Unfortunately, I ended up going to the XXXX that night due to complications from the procedure that was performed. At the hospital they informed me the procedure wasnt performed correctly, I was admitted to the hospital, and had to get the procedure done again. I remained in the hospital for almost a month in recovery and have been in home recovery since. While in the hospital I received a collections call on or around XX/XX/2022 from Comenity. At that time I disputed the account and all charges. I was told by the rep that it was not uncommon for an unauthorized account to be set up, and she put the entire account in dispute. I later contacted XXXX at XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX because the charges should have first been sent to my insurance company. She agreed to bill them and told me that I wasnt billed for all of the procedures. To date, they have not responded to requests from me or my insurance company for a bill breakdown.

Consumer Complaint: I have been having the credit card for XXXX insurance from comenity for a few years. Last year, I received a letter telling me that the card will discontinue. I paid my XXXX insurance premium with the card which I am expecting 3 time rewards into my account. That is supposed to be the last statement period of the account. I did not get the rewards points at the end of the statement. I called the customer representative. They told me that they are aware of the problem and they're trying to resolve it. This XXXX, I received another letter telling me that I have until the end of this month to redeem my remaining rewards. But I still do not see my expected rewards points in my account. I still suppose they can fix this problem for me. Thanks
