Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Subissue: Transaction was not authorized

Consumer Complaint: Original dispute submission on XXXX : Hi, I would like to submit a complaint against : DELL and Comenity Capital Bank ( which is part of Bread Financial ) to remove the additional interest they are trying to charge : {$490.00}, as I only agree to pay the remaining of the balance : {$840.00} ( {$1200.00} [ total purchase price ] - {$370.00} [ I already paid ] ). On XX/XX/XXXX I have purchased a computer from DELL for {$1200.00} on credit/loan with Dell Financial Services ( simply to improve my credit score ). I have signed up for a {$150.00} fixed payment amount each month and got a confirmation over an email. With auto-pay setup - I assumed it will be paid on time and I honestly do not recall such outrageous " deal '' where if the loan is not paid in 1 year - all the interest from that year will be charged at once. This seems like intentional fraud where auto-pay system is either not working or they changed it to minimal payment amounts so that it would run over 1 year, so that I end up owning them all this interest, not to mention- they hide these outrageous conditions on the 3rd page of the statement, written with small blue hard to see letters. I do not recall such conditions when I was purchasing the computer. - DELL Statement from XXXX XXXX ( this is all I got and yes it shows minimum payment due, not the auto-pay amount I setup, so I was under assumption the auto-pay system would charge my account XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - Same DELL Statement downloaded this XXXX XXXX ( now it shows all the details, including the conditions on 3rd page, small blue letters ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX decline to pay all this interest ( {$490.00} ) as this is obviously made to trick people/rip them off. 1 ) I have setup {$150.00} fixed monthly payment and got a confirmation, which they either changed without my consent or something was broken in their system and this is not my fault : hXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) I do not recall such outrageous conditions, they never appear on the very first statement from DELL/DELL Financial Services/Bank XXXX After all, these conditions don't matter much as with the {$150.00} fixed payment I have setup initially - I would not be in this situation in the first place. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Today : XX/XX/XXXX - I received another mail from them which states : Your account was previously enrolled in automatic payments with DFS, via the Customer Portal ( CP ) on XXXX XXXX XXXX The payments were initially set up for a fixed payment amount to {$150.00}, later that same day the amount was updated via the CP for the minimum payment due. This is an absolute lie! I never did that and why would I even do that??? Besides, there was no confirmation on the secondary change to minimum payment, unlike there was a confirmation for initial change when I set it up to {$150.00} ( I attached confirmation email screenshot ). They silently changed my payment setting to minimum, so that they could then charge all the interest, this is FRAUD!

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: XXXX did not deliver an online order on XXXX. XXXX promised to refund {$100.00} on XXXX. After a few iterations of communications with XXXX, I filed a dispute with Comenity Bank on XXXX. Comenity Bank closed or ignored this dispute on XXXX with incorrect information, i.e. " We credited $ {$71.00} to your account on XX/XX/2023 '' while there was not such credit on my bank statement... I disagree with Comenity Bank on XXXX that " We credited $ {$71.00} to your account on XX/XX/2023 '' as it is very obvious on the bank statement. I am also disappointed with Comenity Bank that it ignored this dispute for a couple of months without any refunds by now.

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Problem with fees

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I called XXXX XXXX to fully paid my XXXX XXXX credit store card and I was quoted the payoff for the amount of {$91.00}. With a surprise that I have been charged after that fee of interest of {$1.00} on XX/XX/2023 and late fee on XX/XX/2023 {$4.00} and on XX/XX/2023 {$1.00} on XX/XX/2023 {$10.00} XXXX {$1.00} XXXX late fee {$22.00} a late fee on XX/XX/2023 for amount of {$35.00} and interest charge on purchase {$1.00} which I did not make any other purchase at all on the XXXX XXXX credit store XXXX XXXX From {$1.00} interest charge purchase now, I owe a total of {$82.00}. This is unfair that I need to pay a balance amount that I didn't use at all. These are charges over charges to my account from interest over interest and fees. I need your help with this matter this totally arm robbery to a consumer that pay off the balance on the credit card and was told by a representative that was the total and I paid the amount of {$91.00} on XX/XX/2023. The call needs to be heard since it states all calls are recorded. My credit report should not be affective at all for wrong information provided from your staff.

Issue: Problem when making payments

Subissue: Problem during payment process

Consumer Complaint: In late XXXX I made a purchase for {$330.00}. In the first week of XXXX I received my first bill. I paid {$330.00} on XXXX XXXX XXXX I received a second bill on XX/XX/XXXX, saying that I was late and owed late fees. I paid {$41.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I received a bill with XXXX payments credited in XXXX and additional late fees. I called several of their phone numbers and talked to several individuals for about 2 hours ( all holds, and multiple transfers, call times combined ) to dispute this. They said I needed to provide proof of payment. Which I provided via mail. I received another bill in XXXX with XXXX payments credited and more late fees. I received a letter saying that the proof of payment from my bank was unacceptable. I went to the bank and obtained scans of the front and back of both checks and mailed them to Comenity with a request that they acknowledge payments, remove late fees, and close the account. I received another bill in XXXX with XXXX payments credited and more late fees. I received a letter on XX/XX/XXXX saying that they don't accept my proof of payment, I should contact the company that cashed the checks, and I still owe the full balance and all fees. I did contact the bank that cashed the checks, and they said it is illegal for them to confirm payment of my own check, or to tell me anything about any of their account holders. I can provide these checks to you. Oh, I also received between 3 and 12 phone calls per day for about 2 months, including before I received the first bill. When I called in XXXX I told them I would report the harassing robo phone calls, and the calls did stop after that day. I can provide proof of payment.

Consumer Complaint: Commenity Bank issued 2 credit cards in my name without my knowledge or consent to open these credit cards. Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Problem with fees

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I paid my statement balance in full of {$820.00}, they then stopped sending me statements. Then received an alert on my credit report, I was in default. Commenity bank had rolled {$23.00} in interest charges without sending me statements. Two months of late fees. No messages received from the company. I had no clue these were being charged until it hit my credit report. Commenity bank refuses to take ownership, spoke with XXXX on the supervisor level and they still refused to fix the mistake. Told me she can not even verify if they tried to contact me via email they have no record. Clearly a UDAAP violation.

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Unexpected increase in interest rate

Consumer Complaint: I utilized a 12-month, 0 % interest promotion from XXXX XXXX XXXX for a {$5100.00} purchase, making consistent payments for 10 months. As each payment was made, the reminder to pay off the total by the 12-month deadline was clear. There were additional charges, including a {$100.00} on the revolving debit not part of the promotional purchase in the 10th month. Eventually, my total balance hit {$7300.00}, which I fully cleared, believing this would cover the promotional purchase as well as the purchase of {$5100.00} was paid down to {$4900.00} via monthly payments. However, the company deviously applied my payments to the non-promotional items first, cunningly leaving a balance on the promotional purchase. This sneaky move resulted in a staggering {$1500.00} in deferred interest charges in addition to incurring interest charges on that dollar amount. When I brought this up to management, their response was cold and unhelpful. They bluntly stated there was nothing they could do, despite me having paid {$7300.00} on a {$4900.00} promotional amount. This is not only unethical but feels like daylight robbery. I've wasted countless hours trying to sort this out, only to be met with robotic, indifferent responses from Comenity Bank. Their lack of accountability and predatory practices are infuriating and deeply unfair.
