Consumer Complaint: I fell victim to a XXXX scam on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX A tree fell on my family 's house, and we were working with a contractor we did not know to clear it. After he left with checks, he began e-mailing that he could not cash them, and asked if we could pay via XXXX. This was because the real contractor 's e-mail had been hacked. We lost {$3500.00} to this scam. We realized we'd been scammed on XXXX XXXX, and immediately contacting Bank of America. We also filed a police report that day. On XX/XX/XXXXXXXX Bank of America notified me via letter and e-mail that they could not cover the claim. My understanding is that under Regulation E of the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Bank of America does have to cover the claim because the transaction was obtained fraudulently.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX requested for {$20000.00} to checking account and advance never received. I was also charged an {$800.00} fee. These charges are still on my account. For over a month BOA would not, or could not, say where the money was but eventually found out it was sent to wrong checking account number. I was told I had to contact XXXX XXXX Bank to see where the money was. I did and XXXX XXXX could not provide any info about a checking account number that was not mine and told me BOA had to figure this out. I placed many calls to BOA and they would not advance the call to someone who could help, or provide information on how to resolve. I followed the procedure on BOA 's web site to resolve errors for electronic transfers and sent information by certified mail. They state on their web site they will respond within 10 days of being notified. Today is XXXX and they were " notified '' ( first date they identified what happened and said they would work on it and refund money within 30 days ) on XXXX. They received the letter by certified mail on XXXX. To date there had been no response from BOA. Today I called BOA again to try to see if they are taking steps to resolve this issue and after XXXX minutes on hold was disconnected.

Consumer Complaint: Merrill lynch is saying i cashed a check with another bank and how would they know anything outside of their bank or XXXX XXXX, neither bank is suppose to discuss a situation going on with me unless i give them permission, especially if they are assuming and they are a third party that violated my constantutional rights and i am going to sue for all of this going on, thats my money and i want it, their was no other check cashed cause it was cashed with merrill lynch XXXX the check cashing place was doing janky stuff and tried to deposit a check remotely when they did not give me the amount of the check but that's between me and them and the law if something was done fraudently.Which it wasn't, The check cashing place was trying to charge me XXXX so i changed my mind and deposited the check with merrill lynch not whith them they had copies of my check and i deposited my check on the XXXX of XXXX XXXXCheck cashing or banks don't even give you that amount of money at one time anyway you have to wait 5 days, Here is the checks that they sent to me showing they did not get my money merrill has it and i want it back now, before i sue .They are liars and thieves.

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America makes it impossible to close an account. There's no method of doing so online, and when I try to call in and say I want to close my account it puts me on hold indefinitely ( it's been just about a full hour listening to the same annoying marketing message on fast repeat ). They obviously have the means to hire as much call center staff as they seem appropriate, so to me it seems like they're intentionally keeping staff on non-revenue generating actions like account closure slim on purpose. If they want to maximize their profits and refuse to hire more staff, they should at least let us close our accounts via the website. Wasting time having to go into a branch and wait in line there is not a reasonable thing to force us to do in XXXX when everything can be done online.

Consumer Complaint: Complaint # XXXX was made in XXXX XXXXXXXX almost an entire month ago. Im starting a new complaint regarding the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and consideration displayed by Bank of America prepaid card services department. I have a claim totaling a little over XXXX which was made back in XXXX. I have been waiting on. Decision with this claim for over two years! Not receiving decision has cost me an eviction from my home, because I essentially lost {$9000.00} and couldnt pay my rent. Regardless, I have submitted an extremely in depth, detailed, paperwork and documents supporting my claim- and still Bank of America fails to give me any resolution. I even provided them with a letter from my physician stating the dates when the fraudulent transactions occurred occurred during a period of time I was committed to strict bed rest and XXXX due to my medical diagnosis at the time. Bank of America says the same thing over and over again. Just like they stated in my last report they are looking over the. Plain, and will report any decision made immediately to me. Its all lies- whenever I call they say the department handling my case is a separate claims department- and this specialized department does not accept incoming calls- meaning I can NEVER speak to them. I can NEVER speak to anyone who can offer me some insight into whats going on with my claim, and why I still am waiting on a resolution over two years later! In addition, this mysterious phantom claims department has no time restrains on how long they can keep a claim without making a decision. So, basically this mysterious department, who I can never speak with or leave a message for, can also take as long as they want making a decision on my claim! And they have been taking as long as they want- taking their sweet time- considering this claim was borne in 2021! How convenient for Bank of America- they never have to rectify this pricey situation. They simply can just tell me, my claim is under review, being investigated, and I will hear back from them when they are done- they can take any amount of time necessary, are unable to give me a rough time frame, and will not be able to. All me and answer one of my numerous questions. So, Bank of America can essentially continue to tell me the claim is currently being investigated, and I have to just accept that forever- because it doesnt look like any trail of a solution exists in the near future for this claim! This is absolutely unacceptable!
