Consumer Complaint: Bank of America rep confirmed that 2 accounts were opened using my SSN and email address. Called back to ask for confirmation that these are closed. 2nd rep said there were no accounts on file. Uncooperative in resolving this issue and confirming that my SSN will not be used to open any bank accounts or other financial contracts with BOA. I am not a customer and have not been for almost 30 years. And never will be. screenshots of numerous emails I have received are attached. I have selected CREDIT CARD however, I suspect that this could other accounts that use online banking.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Overcharged for something you did purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I booked a hotel room on what I was lead to believe was the website of XXXX XXXX for a trip in early XXXX. I booked a stay for the amount of {$350.00} moments later I received an email from XXXX XXXX XXXX and was charged {$2100.00}. I IMMEDIATLY called the number on the emails and canceled the reservation and was told by this third party company XXXX XXXX XXXX that it not cancelable. I then called my credit card company and filed a claim for a gross overcharge on a unauthorized amount purchase. Bank of America denied the claim stating they can not dispute a merchants cancellation policy. So, Bank of America allowed a scam reservation site to keep {$2100.00} for a UNAUTHORIZED charge. I thought we had fraud protection in this country. There are many many similar complaints about XXXX XXXX across the web. Unfortunately you can not investigate reviews prior because they impersonate legitimate hotels. They only surface after you have supplied you credit card information. Please help .... Thank you Bank of America claim number XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX XXXXXXXX, I received a solicitation for a credit card with 25 months 0 % APR. However, once I got approved, the disclosure stated that I would only get 20 months of 0 % APR, expiring XX/XX/2025. Because I chose this card, I forewent other cards with much better benefits ; this card had no cashback or points, which I only accepted because of the long no-interest period.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of 2023 I took advantage of a 0 % APR credit offer from a seldom used Bank of America credit card. The offer promised 0 % APR for about 18 months from the date of the draw. I drew {$13000.00} against this offer. A month later, XXXX, an automatic payment was attempted for the entire {$13000.00} to clear the card. The payment bounced and a fee was charged against my account. The following month, XXXX, another automatic payment was attempted which succeeded. I contact BofA to complain about the fees and overpayment. They waived the fee and escalated my case for reversing the payment. The representative took down my banking information and said the case would be resolved soon. A few weeks after I called to check the status. The representative had no knowledge of the case and again took my bank information. A couple weeks after that I called a third time. That representative told me that I would need to call the case department. The following morning I called the case department and the representative said that each time I had called they had created a new case which extended the time to resolution. She also explained that BofA would be PAPER mailing me the confirmation. I had never elected paper communication with BofA. She then told me that the time to resolution would be several months. At that time I decided to close my account. A week later I received a check for the overpayment in my account ( ~ {$28.00} ) and I had also lost access to the account on the mobile app. This week XX/XX/XXXX, I received a call from BofA telling me that I had a past due payment of {$130.00} and that my total outstanding balance was over {$13000.00}. After spending an hour on the phone with 5 representatives, I was told that BofA ( in their infinite wisdom ) had decided to memo {$13000.00} against my closed account and then had issued a paper check for me to deposit and then pay against the new account. I neither authorized the account to be reopened nor had I received any notification that the account was reopened. This could adversely affect my credit and has caused me undue stress and wasted time. In my decade working in the financial services industry I have never seen such incompetence. The lack of coordination between BofA departments and the lack of communication to a customer has been disgusting. I have no faith in BofA and I suspect that this is linked to liquidity issues in the wake of the current banking crisis.
