Consumer Complaint: The Bank of America includes on mail the POD on the face of the envelop for anyone to see. The mailman, neighbors who might pick up my mail or my beneficiary all might view my personal information. I have asked them to remove this from the face of the envelop but they refuse to. Who i designate as my beneficiary is not the business of anyone who decides to view the mail envelop. I have tried at the bank, called customer service but they say it can't be removed. When asked if I changed my beneficiary could they remove the name and add a new name they responded yes. Therefore, I claimed, a name could be removed if that were the case. They do not seem to understand this is a violation of my desire not to let anyone know my private business. The date I visited the Bank of America in XXXX, NY, was XXXX XXXX. This is the same day, XXXX XXXX that I called customer service. The lack of understanding and inconsiderate actions of Bank of America are inexcusable. Requesting a simple removal of personal information not to be displayed for anyone to see and outright refusal is not acceptable. Thank you.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Approximately XX/XX/XXXX, I attempted to change my payment method with Bank of America to my new bank account. Unlike EVERY OTHER XXXX who connects to my new bank using PLAID, Bank of America informed me that it must first make deposits in my account which I would later confirm. This occurred on XX/XX/XXXX. ( PLAID takes about XXXX minute per account. ) I confirmed the amounts and verified my new bank account. Every current Bank of America currently says to login and click XXXX XXXX on their first page to change my auto pay. Of coursethere is literally nothing on ANY account page that says XXXX XXXX. Instead, I went into Payments, saw my scheduled payment for XXXX, clicked Edit Payment andit would only let me use the OLD bank account. No problem, I will set it up again. I returned to the Payment screen, clicked CANCEL PAYMENT several times and realized it was only canceling payment on a month-to-month basis. No problem, I went to Manage Payment Methods, DELETED the old account, checked that this deleted all scheduled payments, and tried to set up a new paymentbut where? Eventually, I found that there was a VERY SMALL link that says XXXX. I set this up for my next due date and minimum payment. I received a confirmation that I read as my autopsy being confirmed and my next due date. Perfect. XXXX never showed up in my scheduled payments. So I called and after XXXX minutes I was told they payments set up on XX/XX/XXXX would not be in effect until XX/XX/XXXX over XXXX weeks later. I was also told that it would NOT show up in scheduled payments until XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX days AFTER I expected a payment to post to my account. I then tried to set up bill pay with my new bank, XXXX XXXX, only BoA doesnt accept electronic payments through XXXX XXXX I then logged into my BoA account again, canceled and then reapplied XXXX and realized that it says ( in very small print, above the important details of DUE DATE ( which was indeed the due date on which I expected my payments to occur. ) The reasonable person probably not even have read this far. They would have seen that autopay was set up and never noticed a discrepancy until their next bill IF THEN ( since they already had it on autopay. ) This is clearly a petty scheme to exhaust/defraud BoA credit card customers who want to make timely payments but who are frustrated at every step by arbitrary barriers, insane limitations, and the excuse that you didnt read the fine print for requirements NO ONE ELSE has. This is predatory banking.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: My debit card was fraudulently used XX/XX/XXXX and was notified by bank and card was inactivated and new one was sent. The card was used to make a purchase for {$750.00} at XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX ga. We have never been there and notified bank where they credited our acct and now have stated that they are going to take the money back out. They said that we had to wait until it cleared our acct to dispute the charge. The charge cleared our bank XX/XX/. They stated that purchase was made chip on chip so only we could have done it with our card. Since receiving a card with a chip I have had to get at least 4 new cards due to fraudulent activity. I have contacted the company where my card was used and they have no record of our bank contacting them about the issue. We made purchases with my debit card in XXXX ga that day nowhere near XXXXXXXX gaXXXX We also were at a family function in XXXX ga when the bank contacted me about the fraudulent activity.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: In late XXXX ( XX/XX/23 ) I realized I had written a check that was not going to clear so I stopped in at a branch and spoke to a Bank of America, XXXX representative named XXXX XXXX at XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX MA XXXX. This representative told me that the check would be cancelled and no adverse action taken against my BoA checking account. Later that day, I could not log in to the Bank of America App so I called the XXXX number for help, at which time I learned that my account was in the process of being closed. I asked the rep on the phone, XXXX, how that was possible when the rep earlier told me at the branch it was going to be fine. I was not notified via email or mail. Bank of America just froze my assets and began closing the account without notice to me after telling me it was all set. When I drove back to the branch, I saw XXXX XXXX again and explained what the rep on the phone was saying. She tried to call risk management to stop the closure. We spoke to a supervisor named XXXX who said we would have to call back tomorrow to see if there was a decision made. I followed up with the following day and it had been determined that my account was going to continue the closure and that I would receive a check from the Bank to my address on record. I asked if I could pick up the check at the branch and I was told no, it must be mailed to me. I was told it could take up to sixty days. I called back in XXXX and was told the check was mailed in XXXX. When I asked to confirm the address it was mailed to, I was told it was mailed to an unrelated address on my account. I was told that it was mailed to an address in XXXX, Massachusetts. In no time since I have opened that checking account have I had an address associated from that town. Bank of America sent the cashiers 's check that had two weeks wages from XXXX to an erroneous address and when I pointed that out. They told me I would have to wait for that cashier 's check to expire before they could correct the mistake. When I first opened the account, I shared that I was a member of the XXXX XXXX XXXX in Massachusetts. I was given a hard time about opening an account with the parameters of the Massachusetts XXXX XXXX XXXX, which is a violation of the VAWA act. I can't help but feel that Bank of America has violated it's fiduciary responsibility in lack of communication and not keeping accurate banking records or addresses. The fallout of my wages and money being withheld from me by Bank of America has now brought me in housing court for an eviction case for my family, of which I am a widowed single mother battling XXXX. I don't need additional complications from an incorporated entity that carelessly mis-allocated my earnings and subsequently failed to rectify their error. I am not in a position to cover Bank of America 's fiduciary mistake.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Consumer Complaint: A fraudulent mobile banking account with Bank of America was opened in my name this morning at XXXX. The account was granted by Bank of America and a debit card was issued. I have reported this issue to Bank of America and they have closed the account. This exact issue happened with Bank of America less than a year ago in XXXX of 2022. I have case numbers for both instances along with police reports. I was alerted about this fraudulent account via emails. Bank of America told me that there have been no transactions on the account at the time I reported it. As of last year, my credit has been frozen in XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. This account should not have been approved based on the fact that all my data is frozen with the agencies used to verify my finances.
