Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: I contacted Bank Of America on XX/XX/2020 about an unauthorized withdrawal of my account in the amount of {$15000.00}. Upon contacting them the moment I realized the problem, I was told that I had to order a new set of cards because my accounts have been breached and that this was the only way to secure my account. so I went ahead and order new cards as well as opened new account numbers per Bank of America 's wishes. upon doing so I was told that the video footage from the Bank of America would be accessed so that they could review it to make sure it was in fact a unauthorized transaction. Once I have done this I thought that I was in good hands. Only find out that that was not true in fact here we are just about two years later and I've received several harassing phone calls from reps and no mail correspondence from them at all on this matter. I've been down to the bank in person but couldn't get any in-person help I've called over the phone to only get belittled on knowing what I'm talking about as well as now every account I've had with them forcefully closed and I have no access to the records of the transaction. the money taken out of my account was for my kid 's school programs clothes XXXX and things of the sort .... I didn't expect customer relations to be so harsh and direspectful dealing with there customers.

Consumer Complaint: The presence of a derogatory rating on my account is deeply concerning to me. I am worried about the impact it may have on my credit, as it has already resulted in the denial of a recent loan application and an increase in the interest rates on my existing credit accounts. I want to emphasize the significant financial and emotional distress this negative rating has caused me and will continue to cause until it is resolved.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened as a result of fraud
Consumer Complaint: Bank of America on two separate occasions opened an account with my information without my permission. I have no history of any accounts with them and have never applied for an account. The account was applied for using an old address, oXXXX I have not lived at since XXXX. Occurrence one : I received an email that an application was approved on XX/XX/XXXX for a Bank of america XXXX XXXX balance banking account. I reported this to their fraud divisions and the account was closed. Occurrence two : I received an email that an application was in progress and then approved on XX/XX/XXXX for an XXXX XXXX balance banking account. I contacted them to close the account and report the fraud but I still received mail and email communications with them. The account has no deposits made on my behalf but it has not been closed and looks like no one is using it for fraud activity. I have not attempted to log in to the account at all.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: Bank of America ( BOA ) apparently issued a credit card to someone else using my name. The " fake account '' was able to run up a balance of {$30000.00} before BOA closed the account. All three credit bureaus showed this fraudulent account on my credit report as 120 days past due. I contacted BOA in XX/XX/XXXX, as soon as I knew that this was taking place. I contacted BOA again on XXXX. Beginning XX/XX/XXXX, I have contacted them over a dozen times. In each case, I get transferred around to get the " right department ''. I have been hung up on twice and had employees refuse to identify themselves. They have made promises and done nothing to fix this problem. I submitted a FACT Act request for information. BOA has sent me the statements of the account. However, they declined to send the application for credit for the fake account in my name. I have filled a dispute with all three credit bureaus. XXXX and XXXX have removed this false information from my record. However, XXXX maintains this false information on my record based on corroboration they received from BOA. BOA caused this problem and has refused to correct it. This has affected my ability to obtain credit.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Can't use card to make purchases
Consumer Complaint: I opened an Allegiant Allways credit card last month through Bank of America and was charged a {$59.00} fee which I paid. The second day after using the card for several XXXX purchases, one of the orders was declined and they put a freeze on the card. I called them and they said the card was placed on a security alert, and to use the card, make any changes, or cancel it, I must physically go to one of their offices to answer more security questions and provide 2 forms of identification. The problem is that there are no offices in the state of Wisconsin where I live. I questioned them about why they froze the card and they could not find any reason as it was not an unusual purchase with XXXX. The same day they approved a couple orders with XXXX for a similar amount. I opened the account with the intent off accruing {$1000.00} of charges to attain the bonus points which would have given me a free flight on Allegiant which would have justified the price of the card. Since this is not possible because I can not use the card, I expect a {$59.00} refund. It is unreasonable to require me to physically appear at their office to even close the card. I am concerned about my credit rating which has always been over XXXX because I cant even close it before the next renewal fee. They should either unlock my card or issue me a refund.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Consumer Complaint: My credit card with Bank of America was set on auto pay and I never received any notice from Bank of America that my card was delinquent. After some investigation, it appears that this is a common problem where the Bank of America auto pay malfunctions and costs people fees and adversely affects their credit. This started in XX/XX/2023 This delinquency is improper and should be removed from my report. After raising this with Bank of America, they sent me a letter saying that I have no delinquent accounts with them, but my credit has not been fixed. Before this, Ive had approximately XXXX on time payments and have never had an issue.
