Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: I asked to close all my accounts. They would not let me pay my account online. So I had to pay in person and I paid them the amount they asked and they said they will close the account. Now I am getting a bill that says I still owe them XXXX XXXX. I asked them to close my account and pay off the amount so that I wouldnt have any random stray bills on accident going to that card and they would start declining them. Instead, I believe they purposely gave me the wrong amount so that I would have XXXX XXXX still there so that hopefully they can scam me out of more money and I believe theyre committing fraud in this way. Please help me be able to close my account with Bank of America. If I have to go in again and pay them more money I will, but I would love your assistance and ensuring someone doesnt keep my account open when I ask them to close it. Also, I believe that if I dont pay this XXXX XXXX which I now have to go in person again to pay, they will charge me a late fee, which is again a fraudulent practice when I have a paper trail showing that I came in to pay off my bill and asked them to close it and they said they would. Additionally Id like to understand the laws around why I cant pay this bill online.

Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX. I'm writing this complaint because Bank of America has closed my account for no reason because I asked them, what was the reason for it? And they say, just because we can. Give you no reason. We can close it whenever we want. And that's what it says in our contract. And I keep asking him and calling on why they close my account, and they never told me why. And also, they have a critical. and my name that I already got charged off. So they already wrote him off on the Texas. But yeah, they're still charging me and sold my information to another debt collector and declaration called me and I never. received already consent letter from them about releasing my information. XXXX was over XXXX years old. And this is affecting my credit report significantly because they put the negative remark on My report. and I have called them to get it removed under new federal laws for consumers. and they're title 15 USC 1681B.

Consumer Complaint: I have a Bank of America credit card with a balance on it. All payments are up to date and I pay above the minimum. About half of the balance is under a 0 % interest promotion the bank provided. The other half has a 24.2 % ( usurious if you ask me ) rate. I pay above the minimum and notice all that money goes to the 0 % balance and none to the 24 % balance so every month, my interest payment rises even though I have made above-minimum payments and charged nothing more to the card -- my overall balances are lower. Is this legal? Do the banks decide where they want to apply the money sent to them so they can maximize the interest charged to me? It certainly seems unfair.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I am composing this urgent correspondence to implore the intervention of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) to halt the illicit foreclosure proceedings that are currently targeting my residence, which is presently in a state of pre-foreclosure. These proceedings have been relentlessly pursued by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, headquartered in XXXX, Texas, and XXXX XXXX XXXX, based in XXXX, California. It is pertinent to note that the fraudulent Home Equity Line of Credit ( HELOC ) account, complete with fabricated and forged signatures and fingerprints, was initiated 19 years ago. I have lodged formal complaints with several authoritative bodies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission ( Account number : XXXX ), the California Attorney General 's Office ( Case number : XXXX XXXX ), and the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Attorney 's Office ( Case number : XXXX ), in addition to corresponding with the California Secretary of State, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Regrettably, my efforts have brought to light discrepancies, such as the discovery that a notary public had misrepresented her last name. Furthermore, I reported these egregious acts of fraud to the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) on XX/XX/XXXX, and despite numerous interviews, the FBI has not pursued the matter, citing a statute of limitations related to the financial crimes committed nearly two decades ago. The financial toll resulting from this duplicitous conduct, which transpired in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, amounts to a staggering {$180000.00}. Moreover, the perpetrators made regular interest payments for 27 months to conceal their actions. To compound matters, the fraudulent HELOC account was sold to a debt collector by Bank of America in XXXX, leaving my wife and I ensnared in a web of deceit and accruing interest. In light of these distressing circumstances, I urgently implore your immediate intervention to engage the debt collector, XXXX XXXX, to halt the impending foreclosure proceedings scheduled for XX/XX/XXXX. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX Homeowners of XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, CA XXXX

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I received a denial for a Bank of America credit card XX/XX/2023, XX/XX/2023 and XX/XX/2023. My account was in good standing during all 3 of these requests. The 3 denial letters state I was denied on my XXXX and XXXX credit report. Regardless of the reason for being denied I have the right to credit. Withholding my access to securities is securities fraud. The corporation Bank of America is violating the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Consumer Credit Protection Act. Title 15 USC 1691a states it is unlawful for any creditor to discriminate against any applicant. The Truth and Lending Act protects consumers from inaccurate and unfair credit and billing practices. Reporting to a consumer agency is voluntary according to the CFPB. In fact denial of my right to credit caused me distress. There are no federal laws stating a credit score can deny me my right to extended credit. XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX
