Consumer Complaint: I was late on my Bank of America Visa credit card payment by 1 week. This was a rare occurrence, as I almost always make by payments by the due date. We had taken a vacation and the payment slipped my mind. I made the payment online as soon as I realized that it was late. Normally, I send a check, but because it was late I wanted to expedite the payment by paying it online. Unfortunately, Bank of America put a hold on my credit card and would not let any charges go through until the payment was posted, which can take 1 - 3 days. I starting receiving notices that charges on the card were being rejected and I could not make any purchases on the card. I can not remember the last time that I was late on a payment, but I do remember that the last time I just received a late fee and needed to pay the interest on the unpaid balance the next month, which would be expected. I never expected that Bank of America would stop all charges from going through. This was a great inconvenience for us. This is not a customer friendly way to handle this. I could maybe understand if I had a record of making late payments, or if it was over a month late, but not a week. I not only normally pay onetime, but I usually pay off my balances each month. I spoke with a customer service rep on the phone on XX/XX/23 and online and no one was able to take the hold off the card eventhough the payment was in process.

I called the bank at XXXX employee could not help and asked for her supervisor XXXX who in turn informed me that the bank had placed a minimum of {$1500.00} as a balance to avoid charges on all the accounts. I do believe these are unfair practices.

Consumer Complaint: Bank of America makes it unusually difficult for Business Credit Card Customers to set up the Minimum Due payments to be withdrawn from clients OTHER bank. XXXX Bank of America, ( on Business Accounts ONLY ) makes it difficult for clients to set up AUTO pay for a minimum balance due, and Instead only allows clients to set up Pre-set amount of payment. ( and Not minimum payment due ). I believe that BOA makes it difficult in order to generate millions in Late Charges from Business Clients. My Example : When I received my business credit card, I went on the website to set up auto withdraw for a minimum amount due, and for Paperless statements. my minimum payment due was $ XXXX. After about a year of auto payments, I went online to check my balances, and learned that I was charged XXXX XXXX monthly late fees for 4 months because the minimum payments increased ( due to the rate increase ). When I called BOA, to explain my situation, and to explain to them that I set up min payments to be withdrawn, they stated that it was not the case, and that I was supposed to go through extra steps in order to do that .... I believe BOA is making it difficult for clients in order to generate extra revenue.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX, and I am currently a college student at the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX also known as XXXX. My bank account has been closed by Bank of America and this has been reported numerous consumer reporting agencies. I am pleading the case that I have been falsely accused of checking account fraud and that Bank of America had no right to close my account and inform other agencies that I committed fraud. Here is the incident that happened, I received a job offer through my college on XX/XX/XXXX and applied for the job through XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX page, The job was a charity work from home job, the Employers would give me money via check and with that I was to purchase items for their Charity organizations. The whole time I thought the job was real because I applied though my college. The scammers made me deposit 5 checks of various amounts of money, one of the checks for the amount of {$1100.00} actually deposited to my account and I go a confirmation from Bank of America of that happening, this gave me reassurance that this job couldn't be fake, so I tried to deposit the other XXXX and this is when Bank of America took serious actions. It turned out that all the checks were fake, The Scammer made me XXXX that {$1100.00} to a person and Bank of America allowed that transfer to happen and that amount did get transferred to that person, all of this just kept on giving me reassurance that this whole thing was real, I have proof of those transaction being made in my closing documents with Bank of America. Since this was not real money Bank of America charged me in debt of {$1100.00} and I did pay it off but yet they still reported me to various consumer reporting agencies. I blame bank of America for this because they should have informed me that the check that deposited to my account was fake, I never once was informed by anyone that what I was doing was wrong. I am only XXXX XXXX XXXX ; I really didn't know better. I will be honest know when I look back at this incident it all looks like a scam from the begging but please know that during the incident I had no clue that I was a part of a scam. Once Bank of America took authoritative actions, I knew the job was actually a scam. Bank Of America should have not closed my account and stated that I committed fraud, they really should reconsider their decision, they have the right to close my account but that can not state that it was because of Checking Account Fraud. They also did not have the right to report that I am in XXXX with them. I have reached out to the XXXX XXXX at XXXX and have let them know what has happened. XXXXXXXX XXXX notified me that there have been cases in which fake jobs have been sent out to XXXX students through fake XXXX websites. Ever since this incident me and my college have been working very diligently to bring awareness to the students at XXXX after my incident. I have let my XXXX Police Department know about the situation, and they have provided me with documentation about the situation and have started to investigate the situation. The XXXXXXXX XXXX program at XXXX are in support of my dispute and think that I have been misunderstood by my bank. I even reached out to the victim Advocacy program at XXXX, and they are even aware of the situation. All of the organizations and programs are in support for me, and they want to prove that I am innocent and that I did not by any means intentionally try to deposit altered check to commit fraud. Neither was I trying to break the bank policy. It might have looked like I was thinking of the incident, but it was falsely misunderstood by the bank. Each of My college organizations has provided a letter of support and proof that this job indeed was a scam and that I was not by any means trying to commit any fraudulent activity. They even support the fact that I was misunderstood by my bank and most importantly I was falsely accused of check fraud. Please look at each document and please reconsider the decision made by Bank of America to charge me with check Fraud and Please inform the Consumer agencies that I never committed fraud. I also attached proof of those checks being received by Bank of XXXX AND for deposit. I had no idea that this job I applied for was a scam at all, I even attached the letter that the scammer sent me directly about what origination they were and the Job description of what they expected me to do. I have no prior criminal record and no negative financial banking history. My whole entire family has Bank of America as their bank and none of them have negative banking history, I never did either until this whole incident happened. I was trying to move forward with my life by getting a job but that was not the case, now things need to get fixed because I cant live with the fact that I committed fraud when I actually wasnt trying to commit it. I have been trying very hard to get this whole situation fixed and hopefully you guys can hear me out and understand the situation. Like I said earlier, my college is backing me up with support in numerous ways and I have been working with them to make sure nothing like this ever happens to any student. I have learned a lot from this situation and hopefully you guys will understand this situation and see where I am coming from, please understand I never had the intent of committing fraud, and I was not trying to misuse my bank account by any means.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint against Bank of America XXXX ( XXXX Unemployment Debit Card ) regarding their failure to adhere to the terms and conditions listed on their website, specifically in relation to the issuance of provisional credit. Furthermore, I wish to bring to your attention my special circumstances, which prevented me from immediately notifying the bank about the claims due to an unfortunate incident that occurred. In XX/XX/XXXX, around the time of the account takeover fraud for which my claims were filed, my purse was stolen. It contained my drivers license, mine and my childrens social security cards, my XXXX debit card and several other cards. However, instead of being able to address the issue promptly, because of XXXX XXXX issues from childhood XXXX and XXXX XXXX I was experiencing, I found myself under an unexpected psychiatric hold. This situation rendered me incapable of attending to personal matters, including notifying the bank about the unauthorized claims. My hold lasted until early XX/XX/XXXX, during which time I was not in a position to access my account or communicate with Bank of America Prepaid. Upon being released, I discovered the unfortunate consequences of my stolen purse, resulting in multiple identity theft claims ( claim numbers ending in XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX ). Despite the circumstances beyond my control, I took immediate action to inform the bank about the fraudulent activities and provided all necessary documentation once I was able to do so. Regrettably, Bank of America Prepaid did not take into account the exceptional circumstances I faced during the psychiatric hold. Their response has been unresponsive and unsympathetic, leaving me in a vulnerable and distressing situation without the promised provisional credit. I am currently homeless and have been since my release. I have no support system, no close family and am fighting to get my children back as well. My life is in ruins and even just a little of the money that was taken could make a huge difference. I firmly believe that Bank of America Prepaid should be understanding and accommodating of the exceptional circumstances I encountered during this traumatic period. Instead, their lack of consideration has only added to the emotional and financial distress I have experienced. Therefore, I seek your assistance and intervention to ensure that Bank of America Prepaid recognizes the gravity of my situation and provides the rightful provisional credit for the unauthorized claims. I kindly request that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigates this matter thoroughly and holds Bank of America Prepaid accountable for their actions, or lack thereof. I have enclosed relevant documents, including proof of the psychiatric hold and its duration, police reports, identity theft reports, and verification of my homelessness to substantiate my claim and demonstrate the authenticity of my circumstances. I sincerely hope that your involvement will lead to a just resolution that considers the exceptional situation I endured and protects consumers like myself from further undue hardship. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I appreciate your efforts in safeguarding consumer rights. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX Bank of America Prepaid XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX XXXX Attachments

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2023 I deposited a check into my primary Bank of America account. I was told there was a second account in my name that I had not authorized. I told the bank representative to deposit my funds into my primary authorized account. Through an act of carelessness, the bank rep deposited the money into the wrong account. I spent the next 2 weeks calling the Bank Of America fraud department asking to have my funds released and the unauthorized account closed. A month later for reasons they failed to disclose Bank of America then froze my active checking account that I've had an used for 13 years. I continued to call. I provided every piece of documentation I was asked for. I went to my local branch seeking resolution many times in this matter. It has been 90 days and the unauthorized account is still frozen. Bank of America is holding approximately {$420.00}. In addition to freezing my funds into an unauthorized account, they are charging me a monthly maintenance fee that is eating away at the balance. My initial deposit was for {$440.00}.

Consumer Complaint: I was purchasing a puppy which was {$900.00}. I sent the money to the person I was making a purchase. within 8 hours I did not receive further communication. I called BOA and told them I thought I was scammed and fraud happened. Then they come back and say they can not get my money back from XXXX XXXX which houses the fraud account used to steal hundreds of thousands. It seems like these banks are promoting theft and fraud and they do not do anything about it as a consumer, this is not fair. You think your money in a bank is protected but I can see they are not.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/23 I called Bank of America ( BOA ) as I was trying to set up AutoPay on BOA 's website. It listed in the About Amounts that Fixed Amount could be used. As I clicked the drop down, the Fixed Amount option was not made available. They only gave two options in which BOA is determining the amount paid back. As I called in to better understand why the option is listed on the BOA website but is not made available. I was told it was taken away last year. I explained that the financial institution ( BOA ) does not have the ability to determine the amount paid back within an AutoPay system unless a lien is held against that consumer. The woman on the phone kept deliberately calling me the wrong name and telling me they no longer offer that option despite it being listed on BOA 's website and then hung up on me. Why does a financial Institution get to determine or limit my options as a consumer as to how much I want to pay back my credit card within an AutoPay system?
