Consumer Complaint: I am filing this complaint on behalf of my mother who recently passed away and I had Power of Attorney for : My mother 's banking institution closed her checking account in XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX. I went to the local branch in person and spoke to an agent, branch manager, and with their internal security team to discuss the matter. They all indicated the account had been closed and they also showed me their computer screen to tell me the account was closed and that nothing could be added or changed to the account since it was closed. I asked if the account could be reopened which they stated it could not. I asked if I could open another account in her name which they said they would not. I was told I would have to open an account at another institution for her. Which I ended up doing. During this time, my mother was receiving a monthly pension as a retired teacher in Texas. I contacted her retirement system and had to make the direct deposit changes to her new account since her previous account was closed so she could receive her funds going forward. It took some time for them to process the paperwork so she did not receive funds for XXXX and XXXX since her old account was closed. On XX/XX/2023, my mother passed away. About 4 days later I checked her new account and noticed only the month of XXXX pension was wired to it but there was no back pay of XXXX and XXXX. I contacted the teacher 's retirement system and they stated that the funds for XXXX and XXXX were wired to the account that was on file at the time before the change took place to her new account. I told them that impossible for the account that they had on file to be closed and could not be accepted into a closed account. They double-checked their system and it indicated it was indeed sent and accepted. I then contacted my mother 's old banking institution on how they could accept funds to a closed account. I told them I had POA and I did not authorize them to reopen the account nor did my mother. They indicated to me that the account was never closed and that I did not know what I was talking about. I fell out of my chair when they told me this and told them how I went to the branch and was told by multiple levels that the account was closed and could not be reopened. That I had to go to a different institution but also I saw it with its own eyes when I went to the branch in person. They just told me that all these folks were not trained properly and that I must have made a mistake as well when my eyes deceived me on what I saw. The bank had frozen the account because they were notified by Social Security of my mom 's passing so I could not get the funds withdrawn and close the account that they reopened on their own. I provided a death certificate to them as they asked but now they want me to take it to the courts and file it with a probate court to get all this paperwork to prove them to finally get her funds released. There isn't much in the account and I told them it will cost just as much in legal and court fees to take it to probate just to get those same funds released. It's like having to spend {$100.00} to get my {$100.00} back. I told them we would never have been here if they had on their own reopened an account that was already closed. It was like, " Oh someone is trying to send us funds on an account that is closed, well let 's reopen it so we can take it '' without our permission or letting us know.

Consumer Complaint: I simply have tried repeatedly, by email and customer service phone number, to cancel this card. I continue to receive monthly statements, despite asking to cancel the account and the card. I have expended it completely and the balance is XXXX. I was issued the card by XXXX XXXX in order to refund a {$210.00} overcharge they errantly made- it was their mistake in the first place! When I called today ( the second time ) to customer service number on the card ( XXXX XXXX ), I was asked to give personal information beyond that I gave in activation of the card XXXX XXXX, 2022. Now, one year later, I continue to receive monthly account reports via my email. I have repeatedly tried to cancel it via email, too! Each time, a message told me I had to provide information well beyond that required to activate the card in the first place, a clear violation of privacy of customers. To show the gall of this company in giving me the run-around, I was asked what the make and model of my automobile is in today 's call. When I refused to continue this invasive and potentially fraudulent questioning, I was told I'd have to somehow send a copy of my government issued ID to cancel the account! I hung up once it was clear the attendant - XXXX ( she refused to give her last name, despite the assumption that I have no privacy rights, since she has all my info ) and others on the call- were just trying to gain personal information. I assume they plan to use the information for purposes I have not approved and are blackmailing me to turn over undue information in some form of bait-and-switch operation. The " scraping '' of personal information for resale or even directly intimidating/influencing me is a documented problem in artificial intelligence and other scams. Please ask the company - XXXX XXXX patient refund card, in association with Bank of America debit Visa, to close the account and stop sending me month statements that conceivably threaten my credit rating or ability to use other credit/debit cards for my needs.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I deposited a check from my husband for a value of {$1100.00} into my account by mistake. The money came out on XX/XX/2023. Two days before the deposit was received, they closed my account. account and the reason was that the check had been reported as stolen which is not serious because my husband did not report it and the company from which the funds were received for work did not report it either. I called Bank America they said that the money was going to be returned to where it came from, I went back and contacted them and they told me that they were going to transfer it back to the company we called the company and they said that they did not inform them anything and that they could not do Nothing came back and I contacted them and they told me that the bank was investigating where the funds came from. My husband was listening to the call and gave the number of the company in which they verified that the money was not STOLEN as they said it had been on the day. On XX/XX/XXXX, they had a meeting and decided that they were going to reopen my account. I called on XX/XX/XXXX and the account was actually active again. I asked about the money that was in my account since it appeared in XXXX and they told me that it would take 5 days. They were able to return it to my account, I called every day and each time they told me something different. The last time I called, which was on XX/XX/2023, they told me that on XX/XX/XXXX they would return them to me and I verified my account. and they did not return them and they do not solve me.

Consumer Complaint: I issued a bill pay check to my landlord for XX/XX/2022 rent ( {$2400.00} ). I have been in contact with the bank since XXXX of XXXX to get my money back when my landlord said he never received my rent check but the bank told me the money was mobile deposited by someone. I was constantly provided with wrong and contradicting information from many different members of the bank and they are refusing to abide by what they told me needed to be done to get my money investigated. The landlord and I have both signed affidavits. The last time they sent the affidavit to me the only stipulation on the affidavit was that the notarized signature had to be mailed back within 30 days of signature which it was. They are now saying that it needs to be mailed back within 30 days of receiving the affidavit. There is no date from the bank on the affidavit and they keep mailing the same piece of paper. The notarized document is legally binding and they will not accept it. They keep changing the rules to get my money investigated when I follow the steps they ask me to take to have the incident investigated.

Consumer Complaint: I had a prepaid card with BofA from XXXXXXXX for child support and than for PUA unemployment . Ive been trying to recover all funds that were stolen but also they sent me my statements and numerous transactions show double or triple charged!!! Now all of a sudden when I call to check balance on either account or to pull funds Im told they cant help me over the phone I have to go in to a branch. Well that would be fine if there was one in XXXX the nearest one is 80+ miles away and I have no transportation and they dont seem to care. So now I cant finish my disputes or collect my funds. Not to mention a claim previously investigated and finalized in my favor they reversed it and wont give it back because they claim I was over paid on that account which is a crock of XXXX! They owe me that {$780.00} or whatever it was. I have allot of money they owe me based off my bank statements and theyre now preventing me from getting any of it back

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my debit card was declined at the grocery store in spite of the fact I have {$2800.00} in the account. I thought there was an error with the machine. My card was declined again at the train station at XXXX. I called Bank of America on XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and was told for the first time that my account had been closed for " business decisions. '' I asked how I could withdraw my funds and was told I can not because they've locked my account upon closure. I asked when I was notified if at all of this decision and they said they put a letter in the mail to me on XX/XX/XXXX -- the same day that they closed the account. This closure came without any notice to me and now I have no access to my checking or savings account with Bank of America. I appealed the company to unlock the funds so that I can survive, but I have been told the process takes several days and may be denied at which point my own money will be sent to me on XX/XX/XXXX. Meanwhile, the credit card I have through Bank of America will continue to accrue interest and late fees even though I have no way of settling the bill because the bank itself has frozen my assets. I have never overdrawn the account, I am in good standing, and for no reason at all, Bank of America is holding my own money XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Hi, I have been being contacted by Bank of America for years now, unknowingly they have been pursuing debt that I have paid in XX/XX/2020. I have a receipt that says this debt has been paid in FULL and they refuse to honor the receipt and evidence that I do not own this debt. They have been continuously reselling my debt and new debt collectors keep harassing me for something that I have PAID. It have tried to dispute it several times on my credit report, but they keep saying I am wrong. Why would ANYONE bother to pay debt if they will take your money but not update the account? Please see the attached receipt. This is long overdue and has been stressing me out continuously, as no one will listen.
