Consumer Complaint: A levy was placed on my account by the State of Indiana. I was able to get the levy removed and the funds were supposed to be released back into my account. {$830.00}. Bank of America claims that they sent the state of indiana a check. I was able to confirm with the state of indiana that the check was returned to bank of america on XX/XX/2023. bank of america claims that they still do not have it. I have asked for them to stop payment on the check so that the funds could be placed back into my account. Bank of america refused without a conversation with the state of indiana. Bank of America refused to reach out to the state or indiana regarding the check. I was finally able to get someone from the state of indiana to contact bank of america 's legal department to advise them that the check was sent back and to stoppayment on the check and put it in my account. The legal at bank of america has now promised on 2 different occassions that this would be completed within 2 business days. They keep making promises to stop payment on the check but i still do not have the funds. Please help.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: I closed all of my accounts with Bank of America on XX/XX/ 2023. I spoke on the phone with a representative, XXXX at the company and withdrew all of the money from the accounts. Last week, I checked the account to ensure it was closed before the start of the new year and discovered they did not close the account and have continued to charge me various maintenance fees. The primary reason I closed the account was because of their lack of transparency and false fees that they refused to credit. I called a representative in the XXXX XXXX department of BoA, named XXXX. She claimed that I never actually closed my accounts because there was XXXX dollars in the account. She said all fees were valid because the bank credited the cash back from my credit card to the account, thus not closing it. When at the time of the first call to close the account, there was a XXXX balance. XXXX continued to change her story, would not return calls or investigations in a timely manner, allowing more fees to accrue. She claimed to not be able to find any of the calls I made with various employees over the past year maintaining that all fees were valid, when they were not. She said the account will not close until I pay the fees accrued after I closed the account the first time. When there should not have been any fees since I was told I closed it. I believe the employees at Bank of America are trying to commit fraud. They have lied about fees, and whether they have done the things I have requested. This needs to be investigated.

Consumer Complaint: This delay is not only a violation of the FCRA but also an egregious oversight that has a direct and adverse impact on my creditworthiness. The inaccurate reporting of a late payment is damaging not only to my credit score but also to my ability to secure favorable terms on future credit. I was the victim and Im not sure why the CRA is not complying with the law. The other bureaus have followed suit. Im very confused why this one seems to ignore my requests. Despite my efforts to rectify this situation and the clear guidelines set forth by the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), I find myself facing an unresponsive and inefficient process. The FCRA stipulates that a credit bureau must investigate and respond to disputes within 30 days. However, to my considerable irritation, the stipulated timeframe has elapsed without any response from your bureau. BANK OF AMERICA XXXX Those payments were made on time. I am requesting that the late payment markings be updated to reflect my accurate payment history. I insist on immediate action to rectify this situation. I demand that your bureau promptly investigates and corrects the inaccurate reporting of the late payment on the account. The failure to adhere to the FCRA 's mandated response timeframe is unacceptable, and I expect your bureau to take corrective action without further delay.
