Consumer Complaint: I notified American Express of my situation with the merchant XXXX regarding an order I made for XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX I attempted to reach out to the seller upon receiving the wrong items which I will provide receipt and actual items I received were provided to amex they were glasses and a backpack I had not ordered which is insane how they mixed that up. I contacted American Express to handle this issue for me as I feared of being left with nothing after 60 days of my order being placed which is outside of the chargeback rule. Amex originally sided with me which was the logical case as XXXX made no attempts to communicate with me or try to mediate and for some reason reversed the decision? I am baffled as to why as according to the law they cant make me pay for something I didnt order or return the merchandise they sent ( which I was as Im acting in good faith ) I explained to them that I will gladly return the items so long as Im not responsible for shipping and duties as American Express said the company requested me to. I reached however and they told me it was outside of their return window? So Im just left with nothing? Thats not how the law works and American Express isnt acknowledging that. They were supposed to take care of this for me which is why I involved them in the dispute as the merchant never reached out. I had to reach out because American Express told me they told me to return them and nothing. They provided their return policy which doesnt apply to me because they didnt respond to me within that timeframe?!? So I got Amex involved to provide me help and they sided with them? Theres countless other horror stories on their reviews as well. Please help this is a lot of money to me I got an American Express card because of the reviews of how they help their customers and Im over here out of XXXX because of the merchants fault hopefully this can cause them to reverse their decision and act according to the law. They clearly acknowledged Im in the right but their hands are tied? Im including the letter. Thank you for your time

It allowed me to enter the card information, but when I tried to purchase what I wanted, it declined the card because the merchant couldn't authorize it. I tried the card again at a few different places and discovered I couldn't use it anywhere. So I wasted money on a {XXXX} gift card that doesn't even work and I want my money back.

Consumer Complaint: I have a pre-paid ( Debit ) checking account with American Express, they refuse to make my funds available for my uses, from a merchant. The merchant issue a refund from a cancelation into my American Express account. the bank tried to make me believe the merchant had or have a hold on the funds after returning the funds back to my card So American Express Bank refused to make my funds available for my used. I contacted the merchant they said that was very unusual, but the sent me a statement stating that fact. I would like my funds made available for my use, instead of the band collection interest on my money.

The coupon was received by American Express on XX/XX/2023. However, American Express has failed to apply the payment to my account. I have contacted American Express customer service multiple times to resolve this issue, but they have been unable to help me. I am concerned that American Express is engaging in securities fraud by failing to apply my payment to my account. Additionally, American Express 's XXXX form states that the company has a responsibility to respond to debt inquiries promptly and accurately. American Express has failed to meet this obligation in my case. In my statement it all states your statement and must be received by XXXX XXXX. local time at that address to be credited as of the day it is received. Payments we receive after XXXX XXXX. will not be credited to your Account until the next day. Payments must also : ( 1 ) include the remittance coupon from your statement ; ( 2 ) be made with a single check drawn on a US bank and payable in US dollars, or with a negotiable instrument payable in US dollars and clearable through the US banking system ; and ( 3 ) include your Account number. Consumer Complaint: American Express offers a " Pay Over Time '' function on my XXXXXXXX XXXX. It is advertised, on their website, that you only pay interest " on the amount you choose to pay over time. '' In reality, they are applying interest to the entire card balance, including new charges which have not required payment yet. Ex : I underpaid my statement balance last week by about {$2200.00}. Since the end of that statement period, I had another {$6500.00} of charges which were not yet due ; they are due to be paid by XX/XX/22. American Express is charging me interest not on the {$2200.00} I elected to pay over time, but on the entire {$8700.00} balance of the card. After multiple attempts to get this amended by AMEX, I don't have a choice but to submit the compaint here. I did look in my recent card member agreement, and it discloses that they charge interest in the way I described above. But, this is completely contrary to their marketing material and the way it was sold to me when I first enrolled. I have a screen shot of their website showing that interest will only be charged on amounts you choose not to pay on each statement. It also shows that my card is one of the card this arrangement applies to.

Consumer Complaint: I have been a AMEX card holder since 2020. I have used the card responsibly since I had it as with all my cards. This past XXXX my credit limit was decreased from $ XXXX to {$1200.00}. They stated the reason was because I had a high usage on my other credit cards. The balances on my other card fluctuates through out the year, I am current on all my cards and have never missed a payment. This has always been the case. This reduction in my credit limit has affected my credit score significantly in a negative way. I called to have it increased again but it is unlikely I will get it because my credit score has dropped because of what they did. All I want is my credeit limit increased back to where it was at $ XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX a credit application was submitted for the Business as I was applying for a business credit card. I had entered my EIN and then was asked for the SS #. I had no choice but to enter my private information into he portal to complete the application., I received a response that the account was denied. Apparently for the low XXXX score and a serious delinquency that does not belong on the report to begin with. I have contacted customer service in regards since this is adverse action against me and fraud in accord as they are aware, it is against federal law in accordance with Equal Credit Opportunity Act to proclaim an adverse action against a consumer. Pursuant 15 U.S Code 1691 ( C ) and assume civil liability pursuant 15 U.S Code 1691 ( K ). which has violated my federally protected consumer rights : and also in accord to12 CFR 1002 Regulation B and also 1002.7 with the rules concerning extension f credit. 1. 15 U.S Code 1642 2. 15 U.S Code 1681M 3. 12 CFR 1002 Since the letter they sent me dated XX/XX/XXXX is both a proof and evidence that I have been discriminated against, American Express is also criminally liable. should resort to reasonable procedures to rectify this affair and compensate me for the use of my social security number. Otherwise, this would be considered an unauthorized use since I have received NO BENEFIT. Following this initial attempt to rectify, I will be sending an invoice to collect actual damages for said violations.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX, XXXX contacted by a credit reporting agency warning me that my credit rating was being adversely affected by carrying a large credit card balance. Contacted AmEx and discovered a balance of {$31.00}, XXXX had accumulated from XX/XX/XXXX to late XXXX, XXXX even after the customer service representative had removed all penalties, late fees, interest charges, finance charges, etc. Paid the account balance down to XXXX in early XXXX, XXXX. XXXX, XXXX contacted AmEx regarding the liquidation of my Reward Dollars ( RD ) account on XX/XX/XXXX without paying off any charges, and thus, without my consent. Bumped up several layers of management and finally informed of AmEx 's irresponsible approach to RD accounting and convenient, predatory RD policies. The AmEx manager promised to 1. ) investigate the res ipsa loquitur miscommunication that occurred via chat and phone on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX. ) determine the approximate value of the XXXX account via a process of reverse engineering, and XXXX. ) remove all penalties, late fees, interest charges, finance charges, etc. during his investigation. Either the investigation was not performed, or the results were not communicated to me. Technically, if no investigation was performed, then the non-removal and further accumulation of penalties, etc. is explained. Unclear if this represents negligence, promise failure or both. XX/XX/XXXX e-mail from AmEx that " Uh-oh [ my ] XXXX has decreased. '' In the past, never cared too much about my credit rating. The few times I bothered to look it up was always in the high XXXX 's, but after the " Uh-oh '' e-mail decided to look up my XXXX score : XXXX! Why did AmEx send me an e-mail about my XXXX score on XX/XX/XXXX? I considered my AmEx account cancelled on XX/XX/XXXX and even AmEx considered the account closed on XX/XX/XXXX. Sending me a dramatic e-mail about my XXXX score on XX/XX/XXXX makes no sense. How much of the precipitous fall in my credit rating was due to AmEx mismanagement of the XXXX XXXX account ending in XXXX? Today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) contacted AmEx ( XXXX ) regarding the {$1.00} interest charged to my XXXX XXXX XXXX ( technically dead but remains a nightmare walking ) account. XXXX reassured me that the charge would be removed along with the threat of a $ XXXX XXXX 's Apprentice from XXXX late fee and the XXXX XXXX of 30 %.
