Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I recently applied for American Express Platinium Credit Card with my U.S Social Security number on XX/XX/XXXXXXXX but was denied. As you may know, this denial goes against the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. According to federal law 15 U.S Code 1691c and 15 U.S Code 1691k, American Express violates my consumer rights, specified under 15 U.S Code 1642, 15 U.S Code 1681m, and 12 CFR 1002. I urge American Express to rectify this situation promptly and compensate me for using my securities to avoid potential securities fraud allegations, as I have not received any benefit from this transaction. Also, I've thoroughly reviewed the terms and conditions, confirming eligibility criteria for the credit card, such as being 18 or older, having a US address, and having a valid social security number. Despite providing all the required information, my application was denied. It appears that American Express operates deceptively. I contacted American Express three separate times, on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXXXXXX seeking clarification on the denial but I was informed there's no direct communication with decision-makers. I intend to Hold American Express accountable under 15 U.S Code 57a for Unfair or Deceptive acts or practices if they choose not to rectify these issues which are based on Facts and Facts alone. I am well aware of how to manage my securities and properly discharge debts.

Consumer Complaint: Subject : Follow-Up Consumer Opt-Out Dispute - Urgent Action Required On Account : American Express And Previous Recission of Permission to Furnished Data on My Consumer Report via Affidavit of Suretyship. Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am writing to follow up on opt-out letters dated XX/XX/2023, and Affidavits of Suretyship Notarized XX/XX/2023 in which I formally exercised my right to opt out of all authorizations, whether written or unwritten, verbal or non-verbal, that I have given to American Express , XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. This opt-out request is made in accordance with my rights as a Federally protected consumer under 15 U.S. Code 6802 - Obligations with respect to disclosures of personal information. Regrettably, American Express, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX have chosen to ignore both of my opt- out letters entirely, and my consumer information continues to be furnished without my consent. This persistent violation of my rights under the FCRA is unacceptable. This is an ongoing and egregious violation of my consumer rights, as detailed in my previous communications. I must assert my demand for appropriate remedies to rectify the harm caused by the continued dissemination of inaccurate and unauthorized information. As previously stated, I have unequivocally rescinded all permission for the furnishing of my personal information, in perpetuity, in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C 1681 ), Section 604. Despite these clear and legally binding instructions, American Express, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX have persistently and willfully disregarded the law, leading to a severe compromise of my privacy and financial well-being. The repeated and intentional violation of federal statutes, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C 1681 ) and the Protection of Nonpublic Personal Information ( 15 U.S.C 6801 ), raises grave concerns about American Express, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXXXXXX XXXX commitment to respecting the privacy and security of consumers ' nonpublic personal information. Issue: Trouble using the card
Subissue: Trouble using the card to spend money in a store or online
Consumer Complaint: I used the amex gift card to try to order from several vendors online, including XXXX. Every time, it said the charge was declined by my card. The card says that it's balance is {$200.00}. To test, on XX/XX/XXXX, I tried to use it online small amounts like {$25.00}, declined. Then large amounts like {$150.00} and {$200.00}, declined. Next I tested XX/XX/XXXX in a brick and mortar store. We tried small and large amounts. All declined. Most recent was XX/XX/XXXX online with XXXX for {$200.00} - declined I know I'm using the right information because each time I try, my gift card balance shows that there was a charge attempt and holds {$0.00} in limbo for 10 days until the decline clears. It's impossible to get ahold of anyone at AMEX, to help me.

Consumer Complaint: Hi there. I have a prepaid American Express business gift card. It's worked fine until recently when it keeps getting declined from online stores ( I'm guessing due to increased fraud detection ). Now, I can't use my remaining balance on my gift card. What should I do?

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 an application was submitted for the XXXX XXXX XXXX American Express Card and was denied. ( XXXX XXXX # XXXX ) Upon receipt of the denial letter I called the number to rebut the claim. However, the customer service agent only regurgitated what was on the denial letter, and when I asked to speak to the supervisor he regurgitated the same thing. They were unhelpful, difficult to understand, and rather discriminatory in their assumptions of my capacity to fulfill contractual obligations. I simply asked questions such as " What did American Express do with the original application I submitted if they are not going to release my credit? '' but the reps could not answer the question and ignored it. I asked, " Is American Express not under Truth in Lending? '' in which they only repeated that my credit score was too low. Any representative I've spoken to so far with American Express were clearly unsuited to answer my questions. I also requested to speak with an executive, the trustee of the account, or any authorized persons to dispute the claim but was rudely denied that request as well. Today on XX/XX/2023 I sent them a written response to their adverse action via registered mail informing them of the applicant 's right to credit and instructed any authorized person ( s ) to either conduct a second review of the application or to retract the security collateral entirely. The purpose of this complaint is to remain diligent as a consumer and hopefully get into contact with the proper executive department at American Express to establish a business relationship in good faith. Thank You, XXXX XXXX
